Yeah but honestly i don't need any more. Deer mods are great so inknow i have most deer species i want in mod form. My most wanted deer at the moment is the marsh deer but even then i wouldn't want it taking a spot in a DLC when there are other animals i want more.
I think if the animals we can get are limited, then I can understand what you are saying. Some representative animals may have a higher priority. But I still want at least 2-3 Asian deer. Tufted deer, PD deer, sika deer, etc.

Really any pack that brings in a weird mix of animals: Wetlands, Grasslands, conservation, and to a degree Twilight, Eurasia, and Aquatic (so really all the 2022 dlcs plus a few extra).
So while I might not exactly like or agree with the animal roster some pack had (Twilight and sorta Eurasia), I do appreciate that they didn't stick to the same exact region and picked stuff from all over the place (Twilight could have been great but 3 of the 5 animals could be found in North America, and while I love the skunk, it should have been literally anything else, maybe even the red fox but that one is at least very versatile).

Mod dependency isn't a great argument if I'm being honest. Having the animal come from Frontier themselves means you'll always know it'll work and that you aren't needing to hawk Nexus pages for every mod you own to get updated.
And there's still a few options left for deer. South America could use some representation with brockets and marsh deer, while tufted deer and muntjacs would be appreciated for some small Asian deer.

I would love a roster with:
Golden-Snub Nosed Monkey
Domestic Yak
Pere's David Deer
Reeve's Muntjac
Golden Pheasant
Chinese Alligator
Crested Ibis/Himalayan Monal
Chinese Giant Salamander [WTE]
Then it's way too late to do so. Whilst modders can make a few animals in a few weeks, that's just not the case in a professional environment.
Honestly this is how I would like things to go, depending on whether this is the last pack or not.
- If this is the last pack: make this a bigger pack, with 3 old world animals, 3 new world animals, 3 birds, and then 3 remainder grab bag animals.
- If this isn’t the last pack:
- This pack is an “old world” themed pack
- The next pack is a “new world” themed pack
- The final pack is still average sized but is a grab bag of stuff.
It would be weird if the end the game with 19 DLCs and if this is an Old World pack then the next is a new world pack that also sounds like a wrap up to me. I think ending in 18 DLC is also a Nice round number. My only hope is that there are more than 7 habitat animals in this. Getting to 200 would be great for my ocd but i guess that is not necesarilly a goals for Frontier
Honestly, they're the only category of ungulates that's still kind of lacking.
We have both hippos, 3 rhinos, two tapirs, an equine for each type (although I'd like a Mountain Zebra in a hypothetical future), plenty of antelopes (although I'd love to get Dik-Dik and Blackbuck), more than enough swines (and even a peccary!), three wild caprids, and like 4 wild bovids, plus all the domestics (including all four domestic camelids).
As for deer, we currently have 4: moose, red deer, fallow deer and reindeer. The real problem with our deer selection however is their coverage of continents and biomes: all the ones we have only cover Europe and northern North America, leaving the vast majority of Asia and the Americas completely empty.
Meanwhile if you look at other ungulate groups, such as bovids or caprids, the in-game species are much more spread out and cover several regions. For example, we have markhor from Asia, ibex from Europe and Dall sheep from NA; similarly, we have Cape Buffalo in Africa, Water Buffalo in Asia, Wisent in Europe and Buffalo in North America
At this point I would be fully satisfied with
Golden-Snub Nosed Monkey and Pere David Deer.
I'd still say there's lots of viable bovids on the table, even with all the ones we have so far
Yeah, over 200 animals and 20 DLCs sounds nice and would give us a ton of content. But let’s not convince ourselves that’s coming, my only basis for thinking like that is it sounds nice.
Let’s get the Musk Deer please? In the Ungulate Talk Thread the consistently most wanted ungulates are deers like muntjac, musk deer, Pere David’s, Etc. The only other mentioned ungulates consistently mentioned are Dik Diks, Chevrotains, Musk Ox, Nilgai, Blackbuck, Eland, Kudu and Yak/ Guar overall I’d say deer are needed more than any others
Honestly yeah but I feel like deer should get the priority.
I feel satisfied with only four bovids, but I don't like having no medium-sized ungulates for Asia... Pere David's Deer or even Axis, or why not Blackbuck antelope. I love antelopes but I don't like how Africa got so many while Asia only got Saiga (which, y'know, is pretty much useless in terms of realism).
Would a yak or a banteng be a nice addition? Yes. But I'd feel pretty weird going to a zoo that has like 5 types of bovids and not a single Asian deer
So uhh... Should we still take account on the dictionary animals or no??
