DLC18 discussion and predictions

Guys guys guys! I think this might actually be it.

Introducing...
The "not again" markhor, the "srsly?" pallas cat, the "don't even think about it" rock hyrax, the "oh for Pete's sake" hamadryas baboon, the "I had fun once" burrowing owl, the "mmmffrrrgghh" mountain hare, the "why, tho?" musk ox, and the "say that again. I dare you" Tibetan fox.

For An Exhibit Animal You Could Have " Don't Talk To Me Until I've Had My Coffee" Thorny Devil.

Yeah india and east asia could honestly each use a dedicated animal pack
Both got a "dedicated" roster section in the bsase game so they probably felt they were okay. I hope they get something in the sequel. Also both got "drops" throughout other packs. If you could make a dedicated pack, one for east-asia and one for India, what would you put in it?

Tbf though, they dont really need a pack of attention.
India literally would be fine with just the Blackbuck, good with a monkey and great with a second ungulate (nilgai or deer) and a bird.

Similar for east asia, if wed get the golden pheasent, musk deer, peres david deer and maybe if we are stretching the racoon dog then east asia would also be guccy, amazing even if we include the voldemort monkey aswell.

And this really is a case where it feel like frontier holding the animals back to sell something in the future, as a black buck in grasslands instead of the wildebeast and peres david deer and golden pheasent in eurasia instead of sloth bear and saiga would have easily and efficently brought both areas to a fine state, but as we know they just didnt, not to mention other opportunitys

Yak, Golden-Snub Nosed Monkey, Raccoon Dog, Pere's David Deer, Golden Pheasant, Giant Salamander, Himalayan Monal.

East asia is far from finished, it just needs another pack :)

Okay, the SteamDB is still churning. Considering time zones... That's wildly late. I'm officially at the "I feel bad for the devs" stage of the DLC wait.
Guess some are doing over time at 9PM at night, shows their dedication. Also, don't feel bad. Its their job and they get payed for it.

Gotta say as the original hater of the exhibits here on the forums, id really like to have an exhibit in the next dlc.
Yes generally id agree that scenery > exhibit or any animal really, but id be lying that the barnyard scenery wowed me in any way with its best piece being a wall blueprint made of shrubs and faux rocks allready in the game, with quite thematic but very niche pieces that dont lend themself for anything but their main purpose, so instead of some larger props id prefer just another scenery pack with a bunch of scenery and just the normal bundle of free update plants + the exhibit this time.

Also now that i stubornly had an exhibit rennessaince, i gotta say that my 2 main issues are relativly easily fixable.
Nr.1 is the height, something a null ceiling would fix but also generally the ability to lower the ceiling atleast along the 1, 2, 3 and the current 4 meter mark would be a big improvement, as half the tanks have literally nothing above the 2 meter mark in the tank but you still have to deal with it not fitting size vise into smaller builds. This would ensure that you can actually do that, aswell as the possibility of stacking 2 1 meter height exhibits on top of each other, actually being able to create the most typical layout for atleast insects in zoos freely.

Nr.2 is that there just are no fun choices for africa, asia and to a lesser extent oceania. South america and north america have been pretty cool since the basegame and the love that they got in dlc was also pretty good, with terrapin, axolotl and red eye treefrog among my favorites in the game and even europe got to eat pretty good, going from no exhibit in the base game to 4 that all are very different, with only a snake as a real blindspot. Those other places meanwhile, where do we begin?
Asia is just sad, 2 tbf pretty decent exhibits in the scorpion and the leaf insect and 2 snakes from the middle east edge into asia aswell but i doubt that i have to explain anyone why this area feels so lacking. Omission Nr 1 is obviously the king kobra, but past them other animals like the burmese python, vitnamese mossy frog and chinese water dragon would all make for excelent exhibit animals (the last one even could be among the coolest habitat animals if frontier was daring enough) and do heavy lifting to actually give some diversity to asian exhibits.
Africa is lowkey a joke. No chameleon, nothing from madgascar, a very ugly not found in captivity frog, one of the ugliest models in the game with the puff adder and only 2 dlc exhibit in the very cool scarab and the allright snake. Here the nr 1 omission is obviously a chameleon, but literally any cool inclusion would do wonders, as currently only the snail and the scarab feel fun to build for. Besides the chameleon id love a rock python, madagascar day gecko and if frontiers daring african cychlids in an aquarium style exhibit would all do an awesome job at making africa not boring regarding exhibits.
Oceania feels the least bad of the 3, but theres still much to be improved. Imo its a crime that theres no exhibit from new guinea and while the spectacle flying fox was cool this really was were the oceania pack dropped the ball for me. Among lizards, we got iconic options like the frilled lizard, beardie, tuatara, thorny devil and many many more and just the first 3 allready would make a big difference.

Also i doubt anybody would disagree that getting these guys as a one of aquarium exhibit would not just work but be straight fire and a decent way to introduce the first fish to the game

Say it louder for the people in the back.

It seems though like crunch time started. Means they want to release the DLC very soon.
It seem's to me that they are working over time, unless it doesn't look like the USA. Overtime is when you have the option to put more hours and effeciant work for more money of the outcome.

Huh that's weird. Don't Frontier have some devs in Canada? Maybe it's them? Very unusual for UK employees to work much more than an hour overtime in office work (lots of laws preventing it). That being said they did post on their socials at like 7pm the other day, I was surprised. What is it that you can see in the SteamDB that shows it's being worked on? I'm not familiar with how to look these things up.

The piranha really is a good choice for the first fish. Super common in zoos, and unlike other fish it is mostly kept alone so wouldn't feel super out of place. I've been a big fan of exhibit fish for a long time, I'm hoping PZ2 starts us off with at least a decent selection of "classic reef fish" (clownfish, tangs, lionfish, chromis, etc), some typical "Amazonian" freshwaters (Cichlids, piranhas, plecos, tetras) and then some big carp that can be modified to put in ponds.
