DLC18 discussion and predictions

True, but wouldn't that mean that it would be better for a Monday or normal Tuesday release? But I guess we'll never know (It's actually Frontier messing up the release day on the announcement post and forgetting to change it)
Only NA came out on Monday but that was because of World Animal Day
All others came out on Tuesday.. I checked to see if maybe JWE2 had some dlc on December 12, but nothing of the sort.... It's just that Frontier no longer sticks to any patterns when it comes to it
For me now it could be any day they announce it, they didn't wait long after updating prod_final and I don't think it's been more than a few days (1-3).... But I don't remember and I don't want to get hopes up for a potential tomorrow
But something feels like this week!!! 😁🤞
(Please Frontier, it's already been a week)

It's always Iben, isn't it :D
I've never felt so called out 😂

But yes, in technical terms we work with "environments" in which we run different versions of our code. Dev means "development" and it's usually where all of the new code is being put when you're working on it. Then it usually goes to some "staging" or "testing" environment where testers do their thing. And then it depends. Some then go right to production, which is branch that holds the code that will be released to the public, some (like we often do) work with a "fake" production environment called "acceptance" to give it another testing round but this time in something much closer in terms of settings to the final public environment.

I guess that with Frontier "prod_final" is the branch where the final build will be on, and "prod" is the pre-production branch where they test everything with the same settings as their production build.

Not a whalejak this time, but it is a Jeb WFWD meme!
Hopefully the WFWD is gonna win the PZ “elections” and be voted for the upcoming dlc!

One would think. But some of it also could have had to do with development (e.g., maybe that one extra day was needed for development; sounds silly but sometimes one day makes all the difference) and that time of year pushing it out a week isn't really an option.

The irony here is that I was almost going to tag you in my initial post but didn't because I thought "nah, he's got better stuff to do." :ROFLMAO: But yeah, thanks again for all the detail here! It's nice to get some actual insight into what these things mean rather than just "SteamDB update means good!"

Okay, but can you make us a promise? No matter what the DLC includes... Even if none of the remaining leaked animals are in it... That you'll put the DLC animals into those habitats?
Secretary and Echidna's inclusion doesn't look good, but African Spurred, Sifaka, Dik-Dik and Tree kangaroo is guranteed.

Anyway, if Secretary and Echidna isn't added. Thats alright.

So guys, I got a fun idea, make your worse case scenario for a Highlands Pack (include the 3 confirmed species even if you like them) for me I would say
Pallas Cat
Hamadryas Baboon
Markhor
Wild Yak
Andean Mountain Cat
Ethiopian Wolf
Kodiak Bear
(Exhibit Animal) Lord Howie Island Stick Insect
I don't hate all these animals (besides the inferior wild yak) but all together in one pack it would be my worse case scenario, but anything without a hyrax would be worse case scenario 😭
To be honest I would take the bear with open arms…

Sorry if I missed it with so many new pages every day, but the new franchise challenge is called the "silk road". We know that these challenges doesn't really tie to the new dlc, but this historical route covered the areas where the 3 confirmed animals live...
Asia pack… not to bad if it is better see Père David’s deer, GSNM, Tanuki, and Blackbuck and Giant Salamander as exhibit please!

I think it's very hilarious to see so much enthusiasm for person-sized salamanders in the standard exhibits when I've been repeatedly ridiculed for suggesting sulcata tortoises (which rarely reach 1m in length) inside what's essentially a big lawn with some decorations.

I’d rather see it as habitat but so many people don’t see how it’s possible.

Giant salamanders barely move. Tortoises need much more room relative to other herps because they like to roam--the 4x4x4 for the much smaller Hermann's tortoise is basically a minimum.

I’ve seen one move once, it put its head up then back down, it would add nothing to our roster besides an amphibian. But as a exhibit species it could at least add larger exhibit type.
