DLC18 discussion and predictions

My prediction:

DLC: Zookeeper’s Collection Animal Pack (or something along those lines)
  1. African Spurred Tortoise
  2. Coquerel’s Sifaka
  3. Goodfellow’s Tree Kangaroo
  4. Hamadryas Baboon
  5. Kirk’s Dik Dik
  6. Linnaeus’ Two Toed Sloth (WE)
  7. Markhor
  8. Muskox
  9. Pacific Walrus
  10. Pallas’ Cat
  11. Secretary Bird
  12. South American Coati

There's some debate with genetics involving bovini. Some authors support that idea that bison represent one species under the species Bos bison. This is because some genetic studies support nestling bison within Bos, having their sister taxa be yaks. The practical upshot of this is that you could call yaks "Himalayan bison" and be technically correct!

Why are so many people assuming there will be 12 species? Did the collection pack for JWE2 have more species than usual?
To get the number of animals in game to a nice round 200.
The parkmanager collection had the usual 4 animals. Also anyone ever noticed how much luckier we are with the Planet Zoo dlcs? The jwe2 ones have 4 animals for 8€ and we get either 8 animals or 5+200ish pieces for 10€

If anything, the Sifaka would be a major disappointment... we keep saying there's enough or too much of this kind of animal or that, but at least most of them have the advantage of coming from different parts of the world, different biomes, strong differences in appearances, and so on... but another lemur? It's just another lemur... from the jungles of Madagascar... because they're all from the jungles of Madagascar....
Nah, I see them needed and I love them. I just hoped more people doesn't see them as a plain lemur with same animations as that's far from wrong.

Oh, so it is a wishful thinking rather than anything else.

I mean, no doubt it sounds good to say we have 200 animals in our game, but I seriously doubt they would care that much. Not that it would win any serious sale numbers just because of it.
"Play our game loaded with 200 different animals today!" Pretty much a Marketing technique for them.

Yeah, in reality, it does not matter. Sure, "we have 200 animals" sounds better than "we have 197 animals" but realisticaly no one will decide to get the game based on that number. No one will say "yeah I am not getting the game, because they did not round the animal number to 200".

I bought this game at 150 because it sounded like an Awesome Number, cant believe we got 37 more.

Don't kill the dream man.

Memes are virulent. Though, the 200 number is not technically a 'meme' in the modern internet sense, but it's still the same result; continuous bandwagon-hopping causes the wish to become the theory to become the rumour to become the assumed reality (to then become the disappointment for those who buy into it).
