DLC18 discussion and predictions

Not really, its the reviews written by players. Which anyone can write at any time. When someone writes a review but it does not change the % rating, nothing happens, but when it changes the %, then the branch updates automatically. The reviews are really random.
Well exactly, and that list doesn't look random to me

It's in order of release by default but you can see that things aren't necessarily updated in order. A bunch of packs (e.g., Africa, Arctic, Eurasia) were updated 4 months ago while two others (Wetlands and Twililgght) were updated 3 months ago while others it was 2 months ago.

So yeah, it is a bit random in that regard.

But the TL;DR here is that there's not much we can glean from this.

Well, personally I've never seen a beaver at a zoo, and I've been to a coupl big and small zoos. I see them more in the wild than I have in captivity
Which all depends on where you live in some regards. I've never seen a red fox in a zoo (I think) but I've seen several of them in my own back yard or neighbors yard, and then there's the ones I've seen just around the area.

I'm sure some Australians see more Wombats in the wild than in zoos and that can be applied with all areas of the world and their respective common species.

Goes without saying I guess that super endangered animals aren't seen in the wild that often either no matter if you live in their home range or not.

I've seen quite a few beaver habitats over the years. But, strangely, I don't think I've ever actually seen the beavers in said-habitats except on like, the nest cams or whatever. Haha.

I can't speak to how common they are to see in the wild but... I went to three Australian zoos this year and every single one of them had wombats. Australia seems to emphasize their local wildlife in their zoos. Much more so than your average American or European zoo, TBH.
Ugh, imagine the quietness and the insanity a week after the DLC drop. We'll be all "talk talk talk" about the DLC for about a week after and then it'll kinda go dead
I mean, that all kinda depends. If the pack feels like there could be another on the way and/or if there's hints that it's not the last DLC? Speculation might continue.

Yeah I agree with this take too. If it's really just a highlands pack 7+1 or 7+mini scenery set (and without any Latin American animals) I can totally see one last pack. Though how long have we been saying it? But Highlands particular just Asian highlands seems like a really weird theme to end the support on. A larger than normal or multithemed pack would be more indictative of a finale.

If there's a good chance the theme doesn't seem like a final pack there will be much discussion until we're proven wrong or until the next release. If it's a fairly clear indicator of a finale pack, the forums will probably enjoy a "end of support" wrap up - favorite animals of the game's run, projects now being completed with a final official roster, that sort of thing. But that won't last long I think, and then yes, the forums will probably be pretty quiet from there on out.

I know a decent amount of people will slowly move on or play less or whatever, which will be pretty sad, but the more dedicated players will probably stick around. But I doubt there will be much chatter on the next dlc discussion thread after a certain point because why would there be.
Maybe. Maybe not. Look at Zoo Tycoon: talk went on for years and the community was still there. Smaller, but still alive. Even after PlanZo was released there is still a ZT2 community
This is what will probably happen, though I'm not familiar with ZT at all so I'm not exactly sure what goes on over there.

I like this community pretty well, it would be an absolute shame if 90% of everyone just up and left because “oh the game doesn't have any current support/dlcs/whatever blah blah blah it must be dead” I HATE that mentality, mostly because I still do play some “older” games that still have a decently active online community or even official servers still running and a lot of newer games just don't always have the same charm due to different practices or whatever
