DLC18 discussion and predictions

Just wanted to close out saying this game did have many obstacles that possibly and probably hindered the game. 1 was a pandemic of course. I feel like the game was really starting to pick up momentum before this happened. And of course the second was the layoff’s at frontier. Once again did this effect the production in any way is debatable but definitely some thing to keep in mind.

Smth that I do find strange is the fact that there r 195 animals in the game rn, like come on that would be sad finishing the game with just 5 animals that left to complete a beautiful 200 animals. So although this pack defo give vibe of last pack, I still have a hope we going to see another pack including Secretary Bird, Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo, Black Howler Monkey, South American Coati
And maybe Duck or Pelican or idk lol, cuz although I really do love the new Zookeeper Animal Pack it doesn't feel like a last DLC although there r a lot of evidences towards it.
It's not really that weird to end at 195 species, to be honest. I know people were speculating that getting to 200 would be 'important' from a marketing perspective but that really doesn't matter because:
  1. There's no competition. Planet Zoo is the only modern zoo simulation game on the market. If somebody wants to play a zoo sim, they aren't going to not do that because there's 195 species instead of 200.

  2. That total number of species really only applies to people buying the Ultimate Collection. Otherwise, it's "you can get up to 195 species by buying the base game and then all of the DLC."
Hitting that number would be nice (especially if the tree kangaroo and coati entered the chat as a result!) but I don't think it's as important as people think it is.

If we get a PZ2 I just hope the community can be a bit more optimistic and ambitious in our demands. Not wanting another DLC? Even if just to give us another couple of new rigs for mods 😅
To be honest, I think the community was very optimistic and ambitious in what we wanted for the game. This is solidly reflected in the meta wishlists for both animal species and game features.

But really, what we need to now is to be as vocal as possible so that Frontier crafts the inevitable sequel in a way that gets us what we want! Haha.

I didn't meant from a marketing perspective, I meant cuz it was such a long way so why not to finish on 200 cuz it make it more impressive, and ik it's not that important but I just find it weird.

Yeah, it's a little odd. And it does kinda bug me that they can't push it just a little farther... But I brought up the marketing thing because that's all that really matters to Frontier in the end.

Oof South America was done so dirty. I'm really hoping we get the howler or spider monkey in PZ2's base game roster. I feel like one primate alone would do so much. I wish we could have even got the ocelot as the anniversary animal. I know the African leopard mod was really popular on the nexus so I'm happy that the people who wanted got it, but I personally have no interest in it.

We all know that South America hasn't been lucky. But what do you think about the poor American black bear and the Eurasian brown bear? They are probably the 2 most common bears in zoos and they are the 2 missing ones 😱. The grizzly bear should have been the American black bear and the HBB should have been a generic brown bear.

Yeah i wonder if it being the most popular mod on the nexus was the reason they went with it. Even tho what mods are popular rarely seems to depend on whats highly requested, and more so what looks good and works well based on existing animals.

I mean im happy for anyone that wanted it even tho for me it has a negative impact on the game 😂

Takin are the same size as markhor? This is ridiculous

we have no where to go unlike every other time we dont have a next dlc thread to go to there is one for autumn which already passed and dlc 20 but no 19 and at this point I dont think there are enough people who dont think the game is over to build a new one so we are just sitting here stuck trying to find our footing now that speculation has died
There Is Literally A DLC19 Thread. Here Is The Link To The Thread.

I even suggested we turn one of those threads into a place where people can just make DLCs freely. I highly doubt we have another dlc coming, but I would rather have speculative DLC and Pack ideas be confined to one place over General Discussion and Animals being filled to the brim with more dlc ideas than before.

I think it could be fun! Like you no longer have to abide by what is popular, or what you think is realistic. You can make a dlc that is cool to you and post it, and people can critique or talk about your dlc idea. So it can remain like a speculation thread, but more confined.

It's not wrong, they are both around a metre tall although the Markhor should be a tiny bit smaller. My local zoo has both animals opposite each other and they are very similar in height.
Dude, as someone from the country where the takin originated, I can tell you responsibly that the takin is much more robust, especially the adult male takin. They can grow up to nearly 300 kg, and the shoulder height of a large individual is 1.3 meters, not about 1 meter. The maximum weight of a markhor is about 110 kg, a weight difference of nearly three times, which cannot be reflected in the game at all. The following is a sub-adult takin, and see how they compare to a family car.

Takin and Muskox are both animals you think are huge until you see them in person lol.

It's a shame we never got the Muskox because I know there would be loads of people complaining they are too small when really they aren't actually that big.
Hahaha, brother, I am Chinese. China is one of the countries of origin of takin, and I have seen hundreds of them with my own eyes, including wild ones.

It doesn't matter what country lol, takin don't magically shrink the moment they leave china. I've seen small takin around 1 metre (hence my statement )frontier may have used the same zoo to research them.
