Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Squadron 42 is divided into 3 episodes. This is just Episode One.

They have planned Episode Two: Behind Enemy Lines, and Episode Three. Each one is supposed to be a Triple A campaign game. If development of each episode takes 5-14 years and if Episode One has below expected sales + negative reviews then we may never get Episode Two and Three.

Lol, they just hosted the 'Live Gameplay Reveal' on their YT, and it has the crashes edited out, and the Scully bug replaced with a clean take...

On one hand they want to show a polished demo. On the other, it's false to erase the bugs and crashes that happened at Citizencon.

Chris seemed to genuinely be surprised by the crashes because he (and QA) had played through the whole thing recently, so it is interesting the announcement was 2026. I guess that means that the rest of the game is is a worse state than the intro ... which crashed multiple times in cut scenes ...

Tyler Witkin played through the whole game in 2016, because he was from QA, and it was his job to do so.... allegedly.

Is Terra supposed to be Sol? Are they goign to ahev 3 planets there write some lore about the other planets being depleted though resource exploitation?

Nope. Sol is planned to be modelled down to the smallest detail!

Terra is one of the biggest systems though and the major hub of the federation.

I think everyone who is getting excited over this year's con should be forced to watch all the previous cons in reverse order.

Pretty sure by the time they are finished they will be completely disillusioned with the whole thing.

Im sure the only reason they can remain excited is because they memory hole everything CIG said before.

The crash message was pretty blurry. (It only appeared on the pull back shot of the big screen)

Does that say...

No such host is known [panic.cloudimperiumgames.com...]

😁

Enhanced and bingo ! :)

I keep thinking these are staged crashes to "show" this is really "live", but perhaps CIG is just this bad.
Cynic me wondered about that when Rich Tyrer said "No, I skipped past it" after the second crash. I couldn't make out the comment.

[drum tears] the error.
[I had] skipped past it [it crashed again]

Here's the official "gameplay" trailer. So without crashes and awkwardness I guess...

I have better things to do in my life than inflict myself more than the first minutes I watched, but I'm curious how far or close it is from what Rich Saviour played yesterday, or it's just his play through hastly edited overnight by a crunched employee. (I didn't watch either, as for the rest of what has been showcased so far, for the same reasons I said)

If you compare that video with the live one, it's not that they have cut the crash and bugs parts, it's that it's directly another gameplay, things happen in a different way... they have the little shame to say in the title that it is “CitizenCon 2954 Live Gameplay Reveal” when it is another different gameplay... shameless.

I love, in this new video that for them is “more showable”, as the last Vanduul of the wave makes an attack directly against the door instead of against the player, and then clipped with the door when the player makes the script to defend himself from the ground... (1:10:54)... that's a “before and after” in the video game industry, no doubt.
