The intended development time between the 2012 Kickstarter and the original expected 2014 release is less than the time CIG need to "polish" the "feature complete" game after delaying it a decade.

Other games by real developers will be conceived & made in full and be robust products between Roberts uttering the words "feature complete" and 2026.

I have better things to do in my life than inflict myself more than the first minutes I watched, but I'm curious how far or close it is from what Rich Saviour played yesterday, or it's just his play through hastly edited overnight by a crunched employee. (I didn't watch either, as for the rest of what has been showcased so far, for the same reasons I said)

They said on the stream today that it was Rich doing another run afterwards to 'prove' it worked, rather than an edit of the live version.
 
Base building tech demo 2024:


This base building demo they are doing is Satisfactory, but ... SC can't handle players in multiplayer. How many servers will melt when people try and build massive buildings?

Without the mystical "server meshing" it would be almost unplayable with lots of players at the same base simultaneously:
  1. Building stuff
  2. Manufacturing
  3. Buying, selling
  4. Docking ships
  5. Using vehicles
  6. Transporting goods
  7. Moving and placing lots of individual items
  8. Modifying the structures, decorating
  9. Warfare, raids between the bases with player groups
If that wasn't enough, how about 10000+ bases on the same planet. Each base would need to be in its own instance.

Yeah the image they showed with org bases scattered about a planet ... unless they have 100+ systems none of this is going to work, all the bases will be on the same bodies.

I mean it's obviously not going to happen but if it did ...

I'm curious how Fdev will do base building. If it has similar capabilities, how do they keep it playable. There can be 150 players with ships in 1 instance in ED.
