Powerplay a few basic questions about new PowerPlay 2.0 ...on Day 1 i know!

hi CMDRs , i asked some of this in another thread but it was edits post-haste , so might've been missed. Anyways , i realize it's only Day 1 of new update & everything , so we're all just figuring things out trial & error ( based on the developer 'FAQ' --> https://www.elitedangerous.com/news/powerplay-20-qa ) but still if anyone knows the answers/guidance to the following questions please lemme know THANKS....
  1. noticed my squadron is still "pledged" the same as it was last nite before patch, but i thought today's PP2.0 was supposed to auto-reset squadron ( and character ) pledges back to zero , no?
  2. someone a couple days ago posted breaking down exactly specifically what types of activities the new PP2.0 superpowers like/dislike when it comes to merit missions , but i can't find that post and it doesn't really tell you in-game on new PP2.0 screen. ( at least, not specifically in the PRE-pledge screens ) -- Just heard some stories of players committing pledges today and then realizing after the fact they can't do the preferred actitvities they like to matchup with which activities the superpower likes the most.
  3. how does new PP2.0 gonna affect teaming/winging-up with friends now, who happen to belong to opposing faction/superpower? ( re: "enemies" , but grouped together )
  4. it doesn't appear to show the HOME systems of each superpower anymore , unless/until you actual pledge & commit to them ?
  5. are some of the answers to my above ^ questions now buried within the GalMap filters? ( i haven't clicked them yet because some players were getting CTD's and errors today on patch day)
i'm just having some trepidation about which to pledge , without being able to first know ( and see ) ALL the specific detailed info from each superpower before making the pledge.

THANKYOU for the reply! o7
Follow-up question please: How do we know which superpower prefers which type of activity though? Or is it just universal ( no pun intended ) for each superpower the same rates?
Do you mean the weekly assignment thing? I'm afraid I can't help there, I remember @rootsrat also saying that you have to pledge 1st before they show you the list which isn't very intuitive but that's FDev for you.

At the very least, you can pledge & unpledge to each power to see their preferred activities and record it in a spreadsheet or something since there's no penalty now.

Weekly assignments are quite clearly described.

The preferred activities are only visible on the map after you pledge. You can't see them anywhere else, but it would be great to see them on the Power information screen.

yeah i was trying to avoid that lol , but i suppose you are correct no real "penalty" now 1st day & all.

Exactly ! That's honestly what i'm deliberating over so much. But oh well , guess i'll do the pledge, look, & switch method. :(

Ah my bad, I assumed (wrongly) that the weekly assignments & preferred activities are the same thing.
No worries ! BTW , i just realized some of my "worry" of the pledge decision is unnecessary , relating to "safety" within systems now ( relating to grouping with buddies of opposing power ) because i believe it mostly applies to Stronghold type classified systems?

Also: i don't understand the purpose of pledge'ing with SQUADRONS now? It doesn't seem to affect anything. What exactly is the point of committing squadrons to a superpower & sub-faction system? And should that pledge be exactly the same superpower President as my character's personal pledge?

Even those don't seem too bad - I was able to get into and out of Leesti a couple of times with no issues from Power security.

The only quantitative thing it does is that your personal actions only count towards your squadron's Powerplay score if they're aligned to the same Power.

It might help if you were recruiting because people can search by power alignment, I think.

You don't have to shoot them ;)

They do show up fairly clearly on the galaxy map in Powerplay mode, though.

Actually ... and apologies for the triple post, but while we've got a "general new player mutual help" thread...

Has anyone else noticed getting different merits and effectiveness for delivering Powerplay undermining commodities to same-superpower and different-superpower rivals?

I delivered 15t of Kaine Misinformation to a Mahon system and only got 15 merits for it (and no progress towards my intro mission)
Did the same to a Winters system and got a lot more merits and the intro mission completed.

(All other undermine actions in Mahon systems seem to work normally, Mahon's ships open fire on me pre-emptively, all the usual hostility stuff, nothing wrong there)

I'll try to deliver 15 tons of Mahon Misinformation and deliver them to a Kaine system this Sunday and let you know ;)

Trying to avoid the worst of post-patch instability, hopefully by Sunday it's all golden (y)

There is an interesting (and a bit awkward) relationship between system sec and powers- I was testing out murder and it appears that its lawful until system sec scan you.

This is different to before where sec would not care and each system (PP1 and BGS) were separate.

Its also funny that this also blends awkwardly with bounties on you- a power kill is peanuts, but crime can be in the millions per NPC...even though both are listed targets. Hopefully FD up the merits to compensate otherwise violent crime (like in the real game) is pointless.

So powerplay weapons are now tied to powerplay ranks? For exmaple cytoscramblers are now in end ranks. How quickly we rank up? One rank per week? That is tremendous work to be done in order to ranks, not to mention dozens of weeks. Perhaps I'm getting it wrong?

Yes it does seem daunting at first but once you reached the rank to unlock that specific PP module, it's unlock permanently as long as you are still pledge to that power. No more hoarding PP modules, you can buy them anytime.

So it's better to stay pledged for goood rather than switching sides once in a while. Different approach, I think in favor of those more dedicated players. Will see how this works in a long term.

But what about ranking up? Cmdr ranks up immediately after achieving goals related with each rank or goes +1 with every cycle.

Do the three powerplay commodities each have a specific function? Or are they all just interchangeable? If so why have 3 commodities?
