Powerplay a few basic questions about new PowerPlay 2.0 ...on Day 1 i know!

well it depends on your activity level. I collected roughly 2200 merits last night while trying to figure out stuff. I guess once you know the system, it's probably not too hard to collect a few thousand merits per play session, and it seems the rank delta later on settles around 8k merits.

- I was able to get into and out of Leesti [stronghold] a couple of times with no issues from Power security.
Well , i'm def. looking forward to more pilot-paranoa AND also this gives me more reason to pretend i'm Han Solo using my beloved Krait Phantom "stealth" cold-runner more often now to smuggle! :sneaky:
The only quantitative thing it [squadron pledge] does is that your personal actions only count towards your squadron's Powerplay score if they're aligned to the same Power.
i could swear before the PP2.0 patch there was an actual photo of currently pledged superpower/president showing within SQUADRONS main ui screen , just below where it shows current Faction & Home system ? ( maybe i'm mis-remembering )
They do show up fairly clearly on the galaxy map in Powerplay mode, though.
yeah i had noticed that new feature before i posted , but tbqh i was worried from all the players claiming "game crashed" or "mauve adder" from clicking filters within new version of GalMap modes , so i hadn't gone into it yet to check. ( i only personally had ONE crash yesterday, amazingly, but it happened exactly when server updated itself at the thursday PowerPlay 'tick' cycle time and i was alt-tabbing to forums a lot so i dunno )

But anyways, yes new GalMap stuff does look nicer and seems better info'd now , imo.
Has anyone else noticed getting different merits and effectiveness for delivering Powerplay undermining commodities to same-superpower and different-superpower rivals?

I delivered 15t of Kaine Misinformation to a Mahon system and only got 15 merits for it (and no progress towards my intro mission)
i haven't done any 'delivery' type missions/merits yet and now i'm wondering, based on your mentioning just "15tons" , if my new Type-9 cargo runner with nearly 800t cargo capabiility ( in preparation for PP2.0 ) wasn't even necessary. Do we not need to run mass amounts of 'garrison supplies' or 'propaganda' or whatever anymore for Powers deliveries? I suppose i'm glad about never having to spend 20 minutes clicking the 250k credit fasttrack feed of only 25 supplies per.

Apparently, for certain types it was even easier lol yipes --> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...exploration-and-trade-balance-changes.629107/

That ^ certainly makes me glad i deliberated/waited so long to choose a pledge.

Even those don't seem too bad - I was able to get into and out of Leesti a couple of times with no issues from Power security.

It might help if you were recruiting because people can search by power alignment, I think.

If I pledge my squadron to a Power is that an absolute decision or can my squadron change to a different Power or no Power (“None”) in the future?

My understanding is that my squadron can change allegiance to (allied) Factions or Powers.

It should, it would be very weird if all your squadron members (including you) can change their PP allegiance but the squadron itself can't.

There's sure to be another PP 2.0 related FU (Frontier Unlocked) episode before the year ends. If you don't get an answer here, that would be a great place to ask the question.

THANKYOU for the reply! o7
Follow-up question please: How do we know which superpower prefers which type of activity though? Or is it just universal ( no pun intended ) for each superpower the same rates?
Hey! I've been working on a spreadsheet for all of this information, I've already pledged through every power and written it all down.

Seems like nobody else has done it yet either, at least not publicly. So I'll post a link once I can.

So I've made a google sheet with a small table for every single power's "Local Activities" list in all the relevant system states except contested, as when I last checked there weren't any yet.

Interesting to note is that every power has two activities that appear for their opponents when being undermined. So for example if you are undermining Mahon, you will always see "Holoscreen hacking" and "Flood market with low value goods" as Local activities. Delaine's ones are "Bounty Hunting" and "Power Kills". etc.

According to the codex, you can always do ANY eligible activity with any power, regardless of if its on the list or not. But there should be a bonus for activities on the list. The scale of this preferred activity bonus will need to be measured.

Where do I find occupied escaped pods for rank unlock, I'm in reinforced system, scanned some planets but couldn't find any pods, now what?

shame there arent any missions to enter station and pew pew people or a person. then have fight to exist back to hanger back having a fight with internal security people.
this would have been a great opportunity to allow people pew pew inside stations, this action would certainly influence the merits

I collect them when bounty hunting. Most ships spit one out when you kill them as long as you don't overkill them (don't keep shooting after they're dead or the pod can be destroyed)

Do the three powerplay commodities each have a specific function? Or are they all just interchangeable? If so why have 3 commodities?
According to the info when you click on the button for each
- one is for acquiring new systems
- one is for reinforcing existing systems
- one is for undermining enemy systems
I haven't personally checked how accurate those descriptions are, though!

EDIT: checked now, all seems correct. Note that the acquire goods have a fairly strict range limit - you have to take them from a Fortified/Stronghold system capable of supporting the new system.

Only just spotted this. I spent a bit of today doing the same thing in a forum post. I'll try and look for errors in that using your data.

Aha.. I didn't notice this! I probably included some vulnerability activites erroneously as favoured Undermine ones. I'll correct later on.

The PODS are found while in supercruise and show up much like the omissions do except it will say salvage or words to that effect. Use the FSS and scan a system or scan the Nav Beacon and they will show up in the Nav panel.
