it is hilarious how many asking for "dont nerf one thing, buff everything else"
are you really so hurry to reach the goal?
Yes, I am, because I don't want to have to wait years before I'm able to use Pacifiers, or buy more Prismatics. If the developers didn't want me to make progress through the content they've added, then they shouldn't have added the content in the first place. Besides, this happens with every new feature FD add to Elite and the only way they'll learn is if we yell at them until someone over there grows a brain.

Hello there Frontier devs, quite an important question if we're to understand your reasoning.

Let's assume an average player logs in 2-3 hours per day.
If a player is only doing powerplay stuff during these 2-3 hours, how long is the intended time to get to 100 on your minds?

Surely, you must have some timeframe in mind to even start balancing the merit gains, right?

The powerplay module unlocks should not even be considered an "endgame" activity. Getting a "free" carrier at level 100 would be an endgame activity.

I (but I can speak on behalf of the whole Kumo Crew) despise any form of exploit... one can call me (us) criminal(s), scoundrel(s), mongrel(s), murderer(s) whatever but not exploiters.

Sure?

@MOD - I have the names of the people involved if interested.

ok so you think unlock everything in 10 hours is a good thing for the longevity of the title.
well, we have a different way to see videogames, its ok

Stronghold carrier undermining needs to be disabled until rare trading returns. There's no good way for defenders to fight off an attack without rares

Actually, all FD has to do is slash the merits you get from killing the stronghold carrier SLF's to a small fraction of what it is now 🤷‍♂️

I get 64 merits for killing an opposing Power Anaconda armored & armed to the teeth. I shouldn't be getting 72 merits for killing a single Power SLF.

This latest round of deactivations just makes it not worthwhile to even play PP 2. What merit rate were y'all expecting as developers? If your intent is really less than 1000merits/hour as it seems from you nuking everything that earns faster than that, then no meaningful change in the galaxy will feel attainable by an individual commander. I'm not putting in 3 weeks of full-time work (read 40 hours) to acquire every new system and I'm not going to spend a year's worth of full time work to not even get a system to stronghold.

You've removed all effective levers for some powers, so why should we bother to play the rat race waiting for our next method to get whack-a-moled?

Rares was the right pace for merit acquisition, a few thousand every half hour. You should balance other activities to that measuring stick.

Conventional trade could very easily be balanced by using
Merits = 0.1(1+profit/purchace_price)((log(profit))/2)((log(demand))/2)*tonnage
This yields around 5000 merits for a VERY ideally targeted cutter load of conventional trade which would require in depth market knowledge and BGS state manipulation to fabricate whereas a more typical trade route would just be 1-2 thousand merits.
Additionally, the current practice of (base merit value)*(tonnage)^0.5 is RIDICULOUS and just encourages one-ton transaction spamming in which anyone trying to optimize merits will just get RSI from the thumb twitching. I know y'all love doing that with BGS transaction math too, but that just made the political leaderboard point exploit. It is trivial for anyone playing the game more than a week to get a type-9, just map the merits and the influence to raw tonnage, please.

Exobio rates at present are a joke; please just make it 20-100 merits per scan. 60 merits for a terraformable water world for carto data is actually reasonable and seems like a good point of comparison.

I'll also mention that the merit transactions also resulting in + inf for <system controller> has made BGS unplayable for any group trying to be intentional about their minor faction. I feel like this would not be the most difficult thing to uncouple, so I hope y'all are looking into that.

Angry rant over, probably won't play Elite until I see the next patch notes hoping for something good...

Let's introduce new gameplay with PP 2.0 where players can earn merits by trading rare goods and collecting escape pods. Let's think about it and test it well. Our best people suggest that most efficient ways of earning merits will be most popular. That might be the case, let's deploy and see.

Oh no! Cmdrs are trading rare goods and collecting escape pods to earn merits! How that happened. What to do, what to do. Let's block it, yes. Then we will think about it some more.

What should we say to Cmdrs sitting on few K of rare goods in their carriers? They surely spent a lot of time collecting it in support of their power.
What should we say to Cmdrs sitting on full load of escape pods in their cargo? That must have taken hours to collect.

No mercy for 'game mechanic abusers', punishment fully deserved.

Yes. Set a goal, achieve it as fast as possible. Set a new goal, do the same. That is how some people are wired and if I am being honest how you get ahead in both life and the game. Some people would rather experience more of the game vs languishing over a single aspect. Some people like to race cars, others take leisurely drives through the country side viewing the scenery, to each their own.

Brining it back to PP 2.0. If FDev nurfs the merits gains they force everyone to the leisurely drive model, which is not fun to some. If they buff everything else, then everyone can choose to progress at the rate that suits their play style and personality.
