Thargoid invasion - Next target systems?

Any idea what order of distance to expect for one Titan jump?
From Col 285 Sector BA-P c6-18, its signal is moving exactly to Qinganu!

Ouch and double ouch 😲

Checking the data I collected a couple of years ago, their initial hops were often 50-100 LY apart, but they reduced to mostly 10-20 LY when close to the bubble.

The next question then is how fast is it moving, and so when will it reach Qinganu? Previously they tended to make a hop every couple of days, which would give a pace of just 30-40LY per week, possibly catchable in supercruise even without SCO assistance ... but I'd guess that Cocijo might be going a bit faster this time?

(Just taking the line to Qinganu so far, the most obvious targets in that general direction are Sol and Mbooni, with about the same "miss" of 30LY on each. But extrapolation from Taranis' first hop would have missed the entire bubble by hundreds of LY, so isn't at all reliable)

I was in BA-P c6-18 about 10 minutes before the hour and it was already around 210 million light seconds away with the counter ticking up a few thousand every second, I think. Though I’m not exactly sure if they set it off to depart the moment maintenance began, or only when it ended.

I don’t have very good feeling about Qinganu - or any other populated system which might find itself in its path on the way to… wherever it may be going. I think (may be wrong) one of the Titans passed through a populated system prior to arrival - Taranis? - but unlike then, I don’t think the passage will be as comparatively uneventful this time.

My only ‘complaint’ so far is that we don’t get to see the same flare as before their arrival. And @Aleks I think that they were actually labelled “Rogue Signal Source” pre-U14 while Unidentified Interstellar Anomaly was the community-assigned name (may have originated from Canonn’s report on them).

If it set off at 7am, then that would give a speed of roughly 11000c, which would reach Qinganu at about 2pm, since Qinganu is only ~280 million Ls from c6-18.

If it set off later than 7am it should already have reached Qinganu...

If it teleported to the midpoint at 7am and then started travelling normally as a visible Stargoid, that would give a speed of about 4000c (which is a better match for your readings) and an ETA at Qinganu of a little after 5pm.

Taranis did pass through Swahku very shortly before coming to a stop, and the lack of damage to Swahku for those few hours probably wasn't relevant...

An economic route plotted from Col 285 Sector BA-P c6-18 has Qinganu as its first jump of a quite wiggly line to any system around Sol direction; as with my suspicions about how the previous external attacks worked when they had no populated options within one jump, I suspect it is using the Universal Cartographics route system!

If anyone is tracking it system-to-system, an interesting comparison will be with the Universal Cartographics economic route:

Credit to the economic option, my combat Python 2 has enough fuel to get all the way there.

I have a funny feeling about Dec 10, ED's 10th anniversary with the last Titan headed this way.

If the Cobra mk5 appears on the store with AX weaponry.....

A bit early as we are still in December - but ...

The Twelve Days of Thargoids

On the first day of Thargoids, my sensors did reveal,

A lone Interceptor on my shield!

On the second day of Thargoids, my ship began to shake,

Two Cyclops drones, and a lone Interceptor on my shield!

On the third day of Thargoids, my hull began to crack,

Three caustic clouds, two Cyclops drones, and a lone Interceptor on my shield!

On the fourth day of Thargoids, my AX rounds did soar,

Four Scouts swarming, three caustic clouds, two Cyclops drones, and a lone Interceptor on my shield!

On the fifth day of Thargoids, the Thargoid roared at me,

Fiiive heartsss exposed!

Four Scouts swarming, three caustic clouds, two Cyclops drones, and a lone Interceptor on my shield!

On the sixth day of Thargoids, my wingmate saved the day,

Six plasma bursts, fiiive heartsss exposed!

Four Scouts swarming, three caustic clouds, two Cyclops drones, and a lone Interceptor on my shield!

On the seventh day of Thargoids, the Witchspace lit the sky,

Seven wakes detected, six plasma bursts, fiiive heartsss exposed!

Four Scouts swarming, three caustic clouds, two Cyclops drones, and a lone Interceptor on my shield!

On the eighth day of Thargoids, my hull repair was late,

Eight drones attacking, seven wakes detected, six plasma bursts, fiiive heartsss exposed!

Four Scouts swarming, three caustic clouds, two Cyclops drones, and a lone Interceptor on my shield!

On the ninth day of Thargoids, my limpet had a glitch,

Nine frameshift failures, eight drones attacking, seven wakes detected, six plasma bursts, fiiive heartsss exposed!

Four Scouts swarming, three caustic clouds, two Cyclops drones, and a lone Interceptor on my shield!

On the tenth day of Thargoids, my Guardian tech held fast,

Ten interceptors charging, nine frameshift failures, eight drones attacking, seven wakes detected, six plasma bursts, fiiive heartsss exposed!

Four Scouts swarming, three caustic clouds, two Cyclops drones, and a lone Interceptor on my shield!

On the eleventh day of Thargoids, I heard a human cheer,

Eleven AX ships firing, ten interceptors charging, nine frameshift failures, eight drones attacking, seven wakes detected, six plasma bursts, fiiive heartsss exposed!

Four Scouts swarming, three caustic clouds, two Cyclops drones, and a lone Interceptor on my shield!

On the twelfth day of Thargoids, the battle reached its end,

Twelve Commanders fleeing, eleven AX ships firing, ten interceptors charging, nine frameshift failures, eight drones attacking, seven wakes detected, six plasma bursts, fiiive heartsss exposed!

Four Scouts swarming, three caustic clouds, two Cyclops drones, and a lone Interceptor on my shield!

It was a mistake adding Taylor Swift on the gold disc in 2906.
We need to "Shake it off!"
We'll either leave them breathless, or at least with a nasty scar.

Daniel Boone, a famous frontiersman from Kentucky in the early days of the USA, was once confronted with a Grizzley bear while he was hunting.
Reportedly, Boone looked the bear in the eye. Taking out his knife, he was reported to have said

"Bear, you are bigger than me. You'll probably win this fight. But I swear, you'll remember this fight for the rest of your life."

The bear thought it over and backed down.
