Elite Dangerous | Update 19.02 - 28 November 2024

Paying somebody to fix the mistakes they made by accident is only an incentive for them to make more mistakes.
I 100% agree with your statement. I'm also all ears if you have any better ideas as to getting Frontier to fix these bugs. If asking them nicely and voting for the issue for over a year doesn't do it, then waving money in front of their noses isn't such a stupid idea when you actually think about it. Some people aren't willing to wait in blind faith for years for fixes to egregious, game-breaking, immersion-shattering bugs, especially considering Frontier's track record.

I would however seperately argue that continuously justifying, enabling or condoning someone making mistakes only shows them that there are no consequences, thus encouraging them to make more mistakes and never rectify them :).

Power NPCs yes. But I'm not talking about them- I'm talking about BGS non aligned NPCs, security- the actual sec forces that work PvE wise.
Please test it before correcting me. I actually found more of "BGS non aligned NPCs, security- the actual sec forces that work PvE wise." than Power NPCs.

I'm not talking about dropping on signals. Just throttle down to 30km/s. Drop. Profit.

But it is not like they don't fix antyhing, just other bugs than you want now. Maybe is there a real reason, like some bugs need to be fixed bofer others, maybe voting isn't only important thing to decide. Maybe they see something in the back end we can\t see... I have some bugs I want to report later, but at now, I think the best priority is to let the game growth with new players to make it better in finacial way to have possibilities to develop for next years.

We all know that between Ody and the end of 2023 it was very hard time for Frontier, and it need at least the same amount of time to raise again.

I have tested it- you drop (at a rival system), wait a few seconds and power NPCs in wings appear..who barely shoot and most often run. This is not signals, you can do it anywhere and its silly...and yet these NPCs (who do barely anything) are worth far more-, a wing of these docile NPCs is worth 800 merits a pop. This is a vestigial leftover to when PP2 was tested by streamers and were attacked wherever they dropped in rival territory.

Compare that to a high sec system where you have to select suitable NPCs and have a few seconds to attack before sec drops in and starts shooting. If you have to do this often, you then have to carefully count kills and ensure you are aware of ATR, since they have specific states where one shot summons them instantly with you auto targeted. And each of these NPCs? Worth 40 odd merits.

There are consequences. Players constantly complaining in the forums, in social media and abstaining from buying ARX are a better incentive for them to fix their mistakes. Especially the last one. Vote with your wallet.

Rewarding someone for doing a poor job isn't the way forward, even if there's plenty of examples IRL for exactly that🤭

After whaling away for years spending hundreds of Euros on full priced game/DLC and associated cosmetics, I did eventually vote with my wallet after (in good faith) purchasing the deluxe-early-access version of Odyssey (close to 50EUR at the time iirc - for a DLC). That was in April 2021.

FDev haven't seen a single cent from me since, for multiple reasons, but it seems plenty others continue to support them despite the recent Arx shenenigans (their perogative, their money), so in the end if they can keep getting away with delivering a product in the state they do, why would they change their ways.

I don't think it's a money issue either but a more fundamental company culture one. Doubt they'll ever change their ways and we either eat it or leave it, I'm afraid. Ten years of experience with them has made me come to that conclusion.

Frontier, please consider fixing acquisitions starting control score when they go above min control threshold. This (bugged since day one), combined with a lot of hauling merit methods still being disabled after 2 weeks is now causing non-combat powers to shrink and fall noticeably behind on the squadron leaderboards, or wasting a lot of merits doing the same work twice when there's a contest.

Ever since PP2 released any merit over the ~122k min control score is a complete waste - the new exploited systems starts at 0 and a single UM merit away from dropping. It does not feel that is the intended design, otherwise the bar would be maxed at min control score rather than what would seem like surplus progress to increase the starting exploited point of the bar, leading to wasted merits.

Add to that a complete lack of a control system list. If a controlled system list isn't in the plans (the scrapped "War Room" from the deep dive), there should at least be a basic galnet report of acquisitions and changed states by each power from the previous cycle.

I've heard those void paintjobs are more of a dark purple when viewed in the light xD
With all the grooves and curves of a Mandalay - it's going to be glorious! :D
Get Sparkly Pink. It looks exactly the same in total darkens.
That is also not available.
Actually there is.
...
Midnight - yep, Void - nope, there isn't.
I am waiting for chrome.... no I am joking, but I wonder how Mandalay will look in the "other metallic colors", ebcasue my Mandy really need new painjob and I still can't decide :D
It sure does, haha. Chrome PJs are always nice!

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but a progression blocking bug exists in the initial powerplay objectives when joining a faction. The objective to sell rare goods to aquire systems simply doesn't work correctly. I've tried 3 different goods to 3 different systems in aquire. This has been verified with other commanders in oddesy general discussion.

Nor me. I wouldn't mind if they would at least acknowledge some of the bugs. But just upvoting the issues, with no idea if anyone is listening, does not convince me to spend more money.

Okay, as the Void Black for the Mandalay was clearly an oopsie, what's up with the removing Void Blacks from the store (even if temporary) and only giving us Midnight Black anyway?

I was looking forward to buying some Voids and some Midnights, since the BF sales the Voids just went from the shop, which is kinda odd seeing as that's when people will be buying stuff... Very much like myself.

So think about that. All things you mentioned are only big issue for old players. New players come into the game now, they see the actual state, and actual prices for comsetics... and are like: "ok fine, stull better than well-knowing other game in space" :D :D :D
But tbh, money are here and now. And only that counts for possibliity to pay workers to do the job done. It is like fresh start, and because old players turned away from the game (I don\t care why ATM) Frontier need new players living now and here, not in 2021 or even 2014. It is sad truth, but this is how world works.

And for me it is fine as long as I see that something happens in the game. And we can't say it is nothing, just because they choose other path that some players want.

So I just keep my fingers crossed for frontier.

Did they remove the void black for Mandalay, or just didn't add yet. Patch notes said about void, midinght and some metallic paintjobs, so I think it is just a matter of time. Black Friday tommorow, so we should see the new blacks! :D
