I think you've all missed something with this ....

All shipyards will now stock one additional ship

ALL shipyards will now stock one additional ship. There's only one or maybe two (that I know of) that stock every ship, famously Jameson Memorial at Shinrarta Dezhra. So for ALL shipyards to stock one additional ship, means it has to be a ship Imperial and Federal stations can stock as well as Alliance.

Now, you could say it's the Cobra mkV and while that's technically true, Frontier (ie Paul Crowther) have not worded it like this before with the Mandalay or Type 8 or Python mkII or the other pre-built ships. It also wouldn't show up for every commander, only those who have purchased it from the store. So why put a line in the patch notes for something not everyone would see?

I have a sneaking suspicion a certain other currently exclusive ship is not going to be quite so exclusive any more.

This update introduces a brand new ship for early access, the Cobra MK V!

Thursday 12 December Release Schedule (Times in UTC)
  • 7AM - Servers offline for maintenance
  • Cobra Mk V will be available on the store in advance of servers being online
  • 12.30PM - Servers back online and update 19.03 available

  • Added pre-built ships:
    • Cobra Mk V Stellar (33,000 Arx)
    • Cobra Mk V Standard (16,520 Arx)
Ships
  • Module storage increased from 200 → 600
  • In world holo-screen adverts now present for Cobra MK V
  • All shipyards will now stock one additional ship

Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed decals and ship IDs displaying with a border/background on some Mandalay paintjobs
  • Adjustments made to Mandalay Black Friday paintjob
  • Fixed missing hitcheck on Python Mk II Spacehawk spoiler
  • A fix has been implemented to resolve a number of issues related to carrier bartender transactions. Is there any news on when rare trading and escape pods will be enabled again?

Well, my thoughts: That is simply a small mistake, and it should probably read "store one additional ship" so that we can have one of each ship on a station (sans Cobra IV).

Otherwise, what ship would that be? Cobra Mk IV made publicly available? I doubt that. An unannounced surprise ship for 10th anniversary? Well... Let's also consider that it does not make much sense to have a ship available in all shipyards. Which ship would that be? Only option that makes sense would be an SCO-capable Sidewinder Mk II. ;)

Plus every Stronghold Carrier, now, which adds tens more.
So for ALL shipyards to stock one additional ship, means it has to be a ship Imperial and Federal stations can stock as well as Alliance.
It doesn't have to be the same additional ship at each shipyard and almost certainly that will be left to the incomprehensible whims of the Outfitting Sim to decide.

There was a very similar line in the Beyond 3.3 patch notes
Added 1 more ship and 2 more utility stock slots to all markets
when the Mamba and Krait Phantom were added. The mention of utility slots (to make sure the new Pulse Wave Scanner made it into outfitting at least somewhere) similarly.

So why put a line in the patch notes for something not everyone would see?
I expect there's been something similar in the internal logs for most if not all releases and it just depends on what else is being mentioned and how long they have to prepare the patch notes and translate them into English as to whether it actually makes it onto the public release notes.

Any news about rares and escape pods regarding Powerplay?
