Today is a special day, marking the 10-year anniversary of Elite Dangerous!
Thank you so much for joining us on this epic journey. We can't wait continue it with you in 2025!
The future does indeed look quite BRIGHT!

Heck, i only just joined this incredible game & passionate community around 7 months ago , but tbqh i sorta feel like i might've joined at perhaps the best, or one of the best, chapters in history.
SWG (
Star Wars Galaxies ) was to me the preeminent
"sandbox" , but unfortunately it's original form & pure intent (
designed by creative genius Raph Koster ) fell by the gaming wayside and, despite noble emulators, for many years i was personally left with a drastic digital VOID. However, 7 months ago for me that void was not only filled by this
Elite Dangerous but also in some ways even surpassed!
That ^ screenshot , simple as it may seem, is actually one perfect example what this game has to offer:
Something familiar ( planet w/ rings on the right ) . Something found ( alien debris on the left ) . And something forever ( those stars in the beyond ) . o7
So THANKYOU for providing such a vast & dynamic, well,
space to play within. And thanks also for that joyous
10th Anniversary recap VIDEO ^ too! It's so easy around here to yell & rant at "FDev" this and "FDev" that , often forgetting how truly dedicated & determined PEOPLE these Frontier Developers must be everyday they work on EliteD . Sometimes in my 7 months here i've wondered why the FDevs don't post nor participate much ( ever ) here on these official forums , but honestly it's probably better they don't since yes they're busy coding & designing, etc. , but also because it maintains the mystery and makes videos like today's all that more cherished imo.
Speaking of which, in the video toward the beginning section, one of the devs mentioned something about how players first figured out "nanite torpedos" effect upon Thargoids and all that ... Does anyone remember specifics about that time for the community? Like, who/how did players first discover the "nanite effect" or whatever? Is there an old thread about it somewhere from that year or first few days of player's nanite triumph?
Anyways, i'm gonna get a bit pollyannish here while i also steal
a phrase from
today's video: In only 7 months, this game has made such a wonderful
"narrative scar" rippled upon my gaming soul that i hope it never heals! At least, not until the next momentous incarnation of EliteD sequel in say....5, 10 years from now?
