10 Years of Elite Dangerous

If I drive an old car with a top speed of 100 km/h, my engine doesn't pull any more than that. I change the engine to a more powerful one, and keep going at 100, because if I do 150, my car will just fall apart.
Are we arguing this point on basis of lore or common sense? It's a game mechanic. And a good one. Wanna talk lore? How about the fact when you 'die' you eject from your ship and ride a FTL ejection chair to a station? How about the anaconda hiding internal space despite its mass out of the big ships? How about the fuel for SRVs being separate/different from the fuel for ships? How about modifying lightweight components to be more armored but adding 0 mass to them because most engineering things are multiplicative?

This is just a few of like a million examples. So I think we got other things to worry about if this is a lore discussion. But personally I wouldn't nitpick on something like that in this case since at least we got something awesome and beneficial out of it. Also FYI - you could MAYBE do 150..for a split second..before things went bad.. Kinda how in older ships when you use SCO..your heat goes up..and will mess up the ship if not watched..

Food for thought.

I didn't quite understand you, the whole conversation was about what I noticed (for me personally) at short ranges (I play PP2 and I have it so) flying on old ships I used very little SСO I was not comfortable with it.
But on the new ships I often use SСO and it is convenient for me.
And all this does not apply to taking off from planets.

I got it, but with no stats, just the marketing bits, so it seems a little hit and miss at the moment.
I haven't received it so far, but I wonder how account resets would impact it. I wiped my save maybe 4 times over the years? In theory it shouldn't matter if they use the email account as the basis as opposed to the CMDR name, and just aggregate data accordingly.

Hey folks,

If you didn't receive the email on your playtime it likely means one of the following:
1) You are not subscribed to the Elite Dangerous newsletter/Mailing List
2) You haven't played enough to generate a lot of data (Unlikely for the forums I know)
3) Your inbox wouldn't accept the email (i.e. Spam filters, inbox full, sticking post it notes on your monitor doesn't count as email)

Unfortunately if you did not receive an email and haven't received new emails after sorting any issues with your inbox settings, then we are unable to resend them.

We've been discussing this over here:

I think it's dependent on how you set up the newsletter emails. I applied via a news article page, assuming it'd link the email addresses, as I'd not received anything since creating an account in 2017. When I checked my account settings here, the "news and update" emails checkbox was unticked.

unfortunately that is not true. I definitely am subscribed to the newsletters, but I don't receive any - last one was like two years ago or so. Also, there is no way to unsubscibe and re-subscribe to fix potential issues anywhere in the user preferences on frontierstore.net or the user portal.

Hi Paul. I'm playing since Premium Beta, I have always been signed up for newsletters and was receiving them in the past, but at some point they stopped. My mailbox 100% did not treat them as spam.

Yet I've still not got the email...

May I ask why not? I wasn't aware of a mailing list/newsletter before and I have tried to sign up yesterday when these email summaries were being shared in our squadron. Are you saying that no-one else will get a summary now?

Also played since beta, was also signed up to newsletter ages ago - but stopped receiving them some time ago. Definitely not treated as spam. Have not received email.

Could be that I'm not subscribed then, I remember I used to get emails to my game account address (which was created when the game launched, so not recently) but seem to remember the emails stopped at some point a few years ago, though I don't recall actively unsubscribing. Oh well.

Edit - checked my email inbox, last newsletter I received was #319 in 2021.

Weird, I have emails from Frontier including this, but not the one with all the stats. Just checked and I'm all subscribed, so what's the issue. Having played for ten year+ (Beta backer) I would be interested to see the details:-

Short ranges using SCO are still hugely useful, I have often used it jumping around the moons of gas giants for DSS'ing, getting a quick boost away from the gravity well is so useful, so even over distance of 50ls to a few hundred ls I still find it a game changer on old ships, incredibly useful, and really if you don't like it over short distances, you haven't actually lost anything with the old ship, it still does exactly the same as it does with the old none SCO FSD, really not sure what your problem is.

so we nearly wiped them out in encounters 🤷‍♂️
they drew ist blood in 84 an i can hold a grudge if i want too..........
if they apologised for there actions or showed any sign of remorse it may be grounds to consider lifting said grudge
and hitting our birth system is not exactly grounds to consider lifting it
i tried to let bygones be bygones and after them pulling me out of warp with there new toys and disabling my ship i did not fire a shot
and let them have there show of force not that i had much choice at that time
but then they got frisky yet again and grounds for a new fungi based weapon may be an appropriate response to there recent activity

Have you checked your email preferences?
Could be that you're subscribed on the mailing list but not on your account; I think that's what happened to me. I had to check the "news and updates" option this morning, despite receiving the generic email yesterday.

I had an issue a few years back where I had some forum problems with emails and alerts, if the forum was trying to send to many some of them bounced back from my email address, it resulted in my forum account being blocked due to bounce backs, took me a week or two to get it sorted through customer service. After that I turned off most notifications and alerts except the ones I considered important. It may be they have instituted less rigorous correction for bounce backs and instead of your forum account getting blocked they just take you off the lists, hence your cessation of mailouts.
