Bug. Cannot destroy rival power members in weekly assignment.

I have weekly assignmets that described; 'Destroy 9 rival Power members in HIP 24336.'.
HIP 24336, have no rival Power at all. I've search NAV Beacon, Resource Extraction Site [High], no rival Power ship. So my assignmet cannot be completed.

Yeah, it gets ridiculous. This week I had 3 assignments I was unable to fulfill: deliver power goods from one system to another (known bug), destroy rival power members (same as here), and scan megaships. The later one is not impossible per se, but since I have already scanned a bunch of them before, most I find in systems don't count anymore.

Encountering a similar problem with the weekly assignment order 'to go to another system and commit crimes there', as only certain bounties count towards this...

Same problem. Can't complete the 'kill rival power members' missions because I just can't find any in the designated systems. I've tried everywhere. Please fix! Hacking the holoscreen adverts was impossible to complete also because it was in a system already under my power's control and the screens weren't targettable as they are in other systems.

It happened to me two weeks ago, a weekly assignment of killing enemy power ships in a specific system of my power, it was impossible. I patrolled the system several times and didn't see a single one. That should be adressed for finishing it in any system you want.
Also, I hate all the weekly asignments asking you to do things in a specific system, because I want to do the asignment in a system in which my power is pushing in the cycle, not in a random system.

I don't mind it to be specific, it should just make sense. Like you wrote, it should be according to the power's current strategy, not random.

Yes - both of these seem to need either another Power's system to be relatively near (so some of the screens start out hacked for the other side, and their NPCs show up). I've got one this week which is going to either be impossible or sufficiently tedious that it's not worth the bonus merits.

It's difficult to determine at the start of the week what the Power's current strategy is, though - everything starts at 0-vs-0.
Location-specific goals are picked to be (mostly) near your current position, which should give some chance of them lining up with whatever you were doing last.

(So there's a workaround - if a fiddly one - for at least some of the "impossible" ones: log out in a contested border region so that there's plenty of systems you might be able to undermine and acquire nearby)

How do you look for rival power members?

Only sites with any action in the system I was assigned are mining sites.
I managed to pic up few signals "distress something something" but those were completely devoid on any action.

System? I am in ... huh... no idea. I logged out. I'll update later.
Power? Empire and that Spanish guy with a funny hair. Denton P...something.

One quick way is to just drop out of supercruise. Seems like most of the time a wing of Power-pledged ships will spawn.

Very true for me so long as it isn’t the system the power has specifically directed me to eliminate opposing powers in for the weekly task, in which case they do not spawn anywhere (3 times now).

System LTT 135
That might be too deeply embedded into Patreus territory to really get rival power members showing up - it does sometimes give these missions for systems which are "too safe".

Looking around for "Power ..." signal sources might work (Convoy or Weapons Fire more likely to be good than Wreckage)
Alternatively if you can figure out a way to lure N players from other powers to the system it's possible that killing them will count.

Until Frontier sorts out the bugs in mission generation you can reduce the chance of being affected by always starting the week (ending the previous week) near a border between your Power and someone else.

I only got into PP because the game started to become really boring and repetitive. I thought I can get something interesting out of PP. Looks like it's just more pointless grind.

Thanks. That's a good hint. I did not think about when I parked by ship.

For anyone else, who is in a really "quiet" system and cant find rival power members.
Scan the NavB, get back to super cruise, look for Power* signals that make sense and have threat level >1, good luck.

Be aware, friendly NPC's (edit: Just remembered, I am not in solo, so...) will slap a bounty on you if you even scratch them. Ridiculous. I know.
Earning are absolute crap but you will get the brownie points ;)

I have tried various methods.
Once you arrive at the target star system, it seems easiest and most efficient to repeat the harperspace in/out near the main star rather than searching around.
