Game Discussions Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

I clicked before I looked and I suspect that I only pre-ordered the standard version...there's no option to upgrade to gold either...yet. I'll wait and see before I refund and buy the gold version.

Edit: I take that back, checked my purchase history and I did indeed order the gold edition :)

Maybe you can email the developer Warhorse Studios or Steam about how to upgrade. You could also buy the expansions later, but that will cost more.

Check my edit...I bought the gold edition after all. My first option was to refund the purchase if I had only bought the standard then replace it with the gold...but I discovered I'd actually bought the gold edition in the first place once I checked my purchase history on Steam :)

Would you say there is significant character development and other background from the first game, that would perhaps be a great benefit to have before embarking on the sequel?

KCD 1 is a coming of age story of the protagonist. Important characters are introduced with some key events. However, you can watch a story summary on YouTube or wait for a sale of KCD 1. If money is not an issue then get both KCD 1 and 2. Based on the previews, the sequel will be better in nearly every way.

  4. Winter - Mystery Ecclesiae

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 preload times

KCD 2 can be preloaded several days ahead of time for those on Xbox, but only a day or two in advance of release for anyone playing on PS5 or PC. Here's when the game is available for preload on each platform:

  • Xbox Series X|S: Tue, 28th Jan at 08:00 PST / 17:00 CET
  • PS5: Sun, 2nd Feb at 08:00 PST / 17:00 CET
  • Steam: Mon, 3rd Feb at 08:00 PST / 17:00 CET

For reference, that's 16:00 GMT on these days for the UK. Preload file size is 77.3Gb on Steam which will be the main meat of it, can't remember if there was mention of a day 1 patch besides the final (usually small) activation download needed on the 4th. The preload is a small boon for me since I have to take the ferry to Kirkwall on Mainland tomorrow morning to buy a new 3t trolley jack for the workshop, won't be back until after 18:00...no such thing as a quick trip to the shops up here since it's 3 hours on the ferry each way...

It's playable on all platforms at these times world wide... :)

  • 08:00 PST in US West (4th Feb)
  • 11:00 EST in US East (4th Feb)
  • 13:00 BRT in Brazil (4th Feb)
  • 16:00 GMT in UK (4th Feb)
  • 17:00 CET in Central Europe (4th Feb)
  • 18:00 SAST in South Africa (4th Feb)
  • 19:00 EEST in Eastern Europe (4th Feb)
  • 00:00 SGT in Singapore (5th Feb)
  • 01:00 JST in Japan (5th Feb)
  • 03:00 AEDT in Australia East (5th Feb)
  • 05:00 NZDT in New Zealand (5th Feb)

According to some reviews the total map size is doubled versus KCD 1. Windows Central: "its open world is one of the most alive-feeling settings I've explored in a game. It's also a massive one, with double the total square mileage of KCD's map and well over 100 hours of side quests to play through."

The open world of Map 1 Trosky is accessible after the main quest Laboratores. Map 2 Kuttenberg is accessible with Main Quest 13: The Sword and the Quill. You can travel between both maps via a loading screen because the regions are ~70 km apart.

All this excitement has reminded me I never finished the first one. It's been so long I've forgotten where I'm up to and how to fight, so I've started again from the start. I'll play through that and then get number 2

You don't have to finish KCD1 before playing KCD2. The sequel explains the prequel story in the beginning and you can make a few choices on how it went.

So while I'm "stuck" in KCD's DLC Theresa quest KCD2 came out and not only nailed it but is already considered a classic and first big gaming hit of the year 2025!

Albeit not perfect and with it's share of bugs the love and passion is clearly there to see and it not only iterated and refined many aspects of the first game but expanded upon many gameplay and choice factors giving it more depth and colourful approach. Also, it runs SO SO well in old machines. CryEngine just showing it's teeth and showing how powerful and performant engine it is to it's doubters.

Some preparation for next chapter (spoilers ahead)

One thing I haven't noticed in my 60-odd hours of play in KCD2 to date is bugs...bar the odd NPC clipping into eachother (which I saw once) it's been absolutely faultless from the first time I fired it up and well deserving of the 10/10 score I'll give it 🤷‍♂️

I added a mod from the Nexus to remove the 30fps cap on the cutscenes (same as I did for KCD1)...besides that...nothing to report except hours and hours of truly immersive gameplay. It runs at 120+fps @2k, all settings at ultra on my machine where as KCD 1 still struggled to hit 60fps on my last playthrough a few weeks ago.

Warhorse nailed it out of the gate...

The completely chance encounter in a country pub that 90% of players may not even visit that generated the side mission to help those 2 minstrels in the video was hours long...awesome content.

Just bought the first KCD, not my normal cup of tea as far as games go, but I do enjoy swinging a sword at folks and love the comedic brutality of games like M+B bannerlord :D
Looking forward to playing it tbh, will pick up the sequel if I enjoy part one haha :D
