Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Stu found the oddest move rationale yet...

PKejKDP.png

Then move all the topics to offtopic then, because by this yardstick none of them further the development of Star Citizen.

So Heavy_Bob shared the GrieferNET kill stats for ships flown vs account age (Jan 2025).

There are various difficulties with interpreting the data. (The system doesn't track uniques, so some kills will be duplicates. Players could have ground their way up to ships rather than bought them. Etc).

But one thing that stands out is: The base starter ships really aren't dominating in the first 30 days: Lots of 'punch above' starters instead.

Interesting to note how quickly the F8Cs start to appear after 30 days too.

Only other trend with any weight I noticed was that hardly anyone's flying alien ships. (Or if they are, they're disintegrating before anyone gets a chance to shoot them ;))

Various issues occurring at server boundaries:

Bonus mesh for quantum snares:

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/1igpzi3/does_the_snare_work_in_40/

There are 2 issues currently.
You can only snare ships on the same server. Server to server won't work.
The snare will also randomly stop working, but you won't know. On your end it will be on.

De-fuelling:

The other day I was running the Save Stanton event and I ran out of fuel between locations because the servers didn’t communicate that I had refueled.

The workaround I found for this was to store my ship after refueling. I never had the issue when doing that but it happened twice if I didn’t store the ship after fueling. The 2nd time it happened, it dropped my fuel to 40% when I crossed a boundary and I was able to reroute to somewhere close and top off. Frustrating bug but it’s definitely an issue with the servers communicating with each other.

QT drop outs & loadout resets:

Honestly, this guy seems to be fairly confused. But on the other hand, who can blame him ;)

Trying to QT anywhere in my Taurus, it may succeed for a few hundred km but the ship drops out and may or may not go back in without intervention. My Cutty Black behaves normally and if I fit all ballistics to the Taurus it works fine, so this is 100% a canon in-game problem.

A bit more study revealed that switching the weapons off works. Some of the time. Then I noticed that the weapons are switching themselves back on in qt and that is what's dropping me out of warp. Sometimes it refuses to work even with that. So after more frustration I figured out disabling life support and weapons generally fixes the issue. Until the next time I have to qt anywhere and then the whole thing starts again. I have a hotkey to disable weapons quickly but there's no facility to do it for life support so its off into the MFDs for that. Having figured all this out I can fairly reliably solo VHRTs with a LOT of faffing about.

This is the most tortured way to say 'Derek Smart was right' 😁

Little did I know that while a certain fellow shouting '90 days tops' would be hilariously wrong, that scam artist who sold early access asset packs to his vaporware mmo on steam might ultimately be right about this scam artist selling vaporware off steam. Knowing what we know now I'd warn everyone away from either one's future lies and scams.

Generally loving how much CR-seeing is going on under the 'epiphany' post though ;)

Another one from starcitizen_refunds, you lot are starting to panic aren't you, lol.

LOL. Yes, sure, we're really panicking that the "game" is in the worst state its been in in a long time.

Hah, just watched the video - 50% of the game budget... and pre-sales. On the nose.

A small bit from Zyloh´s post that has not got much attention yet:

That means dedicating all our resources to improving stability, addressing critical issues, and delivering meaningful quality-of-life updates.

While some may think CIG cancellation of the free fly is good news and "a small step in the right direction", in fact this is the perfect opportunity for CIG to rationalize no meaningful new features or content for the foreseeable.

Players: "But, CIG, you said you would still continue adding more content in the PU and new features in parallel preview channels, in addition to focusing on bug fixing and QoL!"
CIG: "Yeah, sorry no can´t do anymore. Got to dedicate all our resources to improving stability! See you!"
