And who's asking for an all-powerful effect? I'm asking for the effects achieved to not be undone through manual intervention by FD.its not because you don't agree with reality that reality has to change in order to accomodate your narrow view of things
its not a "lie" that players can have an impact ... there was the lockdown, players can submit reports and the CG was altered. Thats an "impact". it never says that players will be all powerfull and the entire universe will bo down to the actions of a few to flatter their personal ego (which seems to be your point of view). And surprisingly that is ... not true.
So why couldn't CG participants adapt? Also, the fdevs did not "undo everything on a whim" they did like any decent MJ would do. react and adapt to a situation by driving the narrative towards a plausible and likely directions that gives power to the players to resolve.
Which is functionally removing the effect. Today, the CG was going to end. That's not going to happen now. Imagine if this was a war, and one side was going to win, but now "Nope, added another 5 days" which is plenty of time to change that outcome.THEY did not remove the lockdown, but left PLAYERS agency to decide what would happen with the lockdown.
PLAYERS did not change the CG date. FD did that.you seem so angry and ed off because PLAYERS are undoing the action of other PLAYERS.
My argument is that FD shouldn't have extended the CG. If the lockdown was targeted, this takes planning and effort to get the timing right. That's now been overruled by FD by extending the CG.You want to take back control of the system and prevent explorers to retake it for the corpo? Convince PLAYERS to side with you instead of whining because there are more (again) PLAYERS fighting against the lockdown than for it.
Honestly your whole argument seems just emotional and does not hold much under scrutiny
Made it!Can you all commanders stop fighting already?
Whoever are responsible for the lockdown got Fdev to talk about them on the front page, and managed to nicely set the returning explorers in panic mode.
We now have 6 days to get things back to normal, attracting lots of combat players in the area, and leaving it up to the players to fight for what they want.
And me? I was also on my way back and planned to safely/boringly hand in my data today. Instead, I'm going to fight in the system now crawling with PvPeers, trying not to get my data blown up in the process, which is...SO MUCH MORE FUN!
Can you not realize that everybody wins in the end?
It's also FD who say that CGs may be affected by state changes.
So I guess that's a lie.
Has it? What else has been going on since 30th Jan through to now that FD has sought to intervene in, or could have but didn't?What do you mean it's a lie? The CG has been enormously affected by state changes! When was the last time that a CG has been affected this much by it?
The tone and I suspect the basic motivation does seem rather....... adolescent. This why I prefer to play solo.Don't shoot @Rubbernuke , it wasn't his team that did this

What people do is up to them, although I do like the idea I have a secret group of players at my command to unleash on the world.Don't shoot @Rubbernuke , it wasn't his team that did this

But has it though? By extending the deadline all FD done is negate the consequences of the attack itself- which should have been that it (the CG) was cut short because it was attacked. FD could have crafted a 'revenge' CG somewhere (say, tracking down an NPC faction) and let people loose.I love this unscripted plot and how it develops. It's a shame that the gaming media and community isn't aware that there is a game where the story unfolds through the actions of the players, whether intentional or not.
player agency in the story of elite has been covered by gaming media (when it was still worth something) and it is what brought me to elite. i think i started following this game after an ign article about appearing thargoids and mention of players being able to affect the course of the galaxy really hooked me up.I love this unscripted plot and how it develops. generally i agree, but that isnt fair to all the people that took a hit from fdev, shrugged it off in silence and won their game back. you just dont hear from them...In reality people love an emergent BGS until it affects them and people start whining.
only if you spell it with your firegroupsSo a very warm "Frontier Unlocked" to them is appropriate I guess ?![]()
Like I said, the CG should have been frozen out at 5/6 and then that consequence used, because the time constraint is, well, a constraint- until it magically isn't.generally i agree, but that isnt fair to all the people that took a hit from fdev, shrugged it off in silence and won their game back. you just dont hear from them...
i for one am (almost) always happy for more incentives and opportunities to play the game. pity all the other things are making me turn the game off pretty quickly even when i get to play.
Player kills don't cause or effect Lockdown.Don't shoot @Rubbernuke , it wasn't his team that did this
