Powerplay 2.0 - Will pledging to a leader prevent me from mining, bounty hunting and doing missions?

I don't understand enough about Powerplay but I am interested in the +100% bounty payouts and -30% ship weapon costs perks now available through Powerplay 2.0.

This is the system (A) that I live in:

I have found a nearby system (B) for Bounty Hunting missions:

Q. What happens if I pledge to Federation (Jerome Archer) and do Bounty Hunting missions in System B and then fly back home to System A? Will I be attacked by Empire (Arissa Lavigny-Duval's) ships or refused permission to dock at my home station?

Q2. Does System Allegiance come into Powerplay at all? How can System A be Federation and Controlled by Arissa?

Q3. What happens if I pledge to Empire but then Arissa loses control of my home system to, for example, Jerome Archer?

I wish I understood Powerplay better. I do a bit of exploring, mining and missions but I don't want to be locked out of any systems because I sign up for Powerplay.
Is that how Powerplay works? Does it negatively affect you if you move around between systems? Is Powerplay meant for people who stay put in one system?

Thanks

You home system? Surely that’s a role play thing so it would be up to you how it affects your CMDR.
What I don't understand is if a different faction controls my home system than who I am pledged to, does that affect my access to stations, missions etc?
Thanks for your reply

As far as I know, your allegiance has zero effect on whether you can dock at any station (with, perhaps, the exception of stronghold carriers of another superpower, I haven't tested it.)

Why do Federation and Alliance only have 2 leaders to choose from? Doesn't that make it easier for Empire and Independent to control more space, in space?

Looking at the Powerpoint 2.0 map in-game, Felicia Winters has control of most of the systems near me.

I enjoy bounty hunting, running missions, a bit of mining and some exploring and Felicia's perks, apart from the glory of an Independent society, seem pretty weak for the gameplay that I enjoy.

Felicia Winters: +100% salvage profits, +100% minor faction reputation gain and +60% trade profits for food and medicine in Winters-controlled systems

Vs

Arissa Lavigny-Duval: +100% bounty payouts and -30% ship weapon costs in Lavigny-Duval-controlled systems

Does this mean that instead of earning 20 million for a resource site bounty hunting session, I would get 40 million? plus ship weapon costs are cheaper.

Q. Why would I choose Felicia over Arissa if I enjoy PvE missions and bounty hunting? What can you salvage in Elite and why would I want a Minor Faction rep gain?
It looks like Felicia is set up to support Traders and Salvagers, would that be fair? Whereas Arissa supoports Combat.

Minor faction rep gain increases the value of missions you are offered and is instrumental in gaining Imperial or Federation Superpower rank.

When PowerPlay first dropped (I forget now, was it a preview for partners only?) the npc's from opposing powers were extremely aggressive (e.g. I got jumped and killed by three while happily minding my own business filming a video down at a planet crater in Sol). A lot of concerns were raised about being able to engage in group meetups and other social activities while pledged (especially since unpledging loses all your PP rank progression). On that back of that feedback Frontier dramatically reduced this aggro (in fact I’ve had zero attention from enemy powers since then) but it's still possible I guess that they may turn that dial back up at a later date.

Some things to note...

When mining it is best to mine and sell in the same systems and in systems that are controlled by the power you are pledged to. You will get paid and earn merits. While prices very, it usually pays pretty well and it pays to check the station prices before you leave. Sometimes other stations in the system will pay more. You get a lot of merits for mining so since you enjoy it, it's a great way to rank up.

I have yet to see a ship from another power in a res zone when bounty hunting, even in another powers system.

If a ship is pledged to another power scans you, it will attack you. If you fire on it and you are in another powers system, you will be fined, if you kill them you will aquire a bounty. You will not get notoriety and can pay off the bounty at an interstellar factors.

At the end of the day all the powers are broadly similar. If you have a home system and plan on sticking there, might as well pledge to whoever's local so you get merits for just doing whatever it is you normally do.

The only real difference basically boils down to "you get some amount more credits for doing a particular activity" and once you get far enough in your career credits start getting thrown at you through a firehose.

Archon Delaine is the only one with a bonus that actually meaningfully affects my day-to-day flying in any way besides "number go up somewhat faster" - being able to just ignore the crime and punishment system and not worry about incurring a speeding fine while I'm notorious is extremely convenient.

The odd thing is none of them act as if they are on the same "team". Aisling pledges will attack lavigny pledges, etc.
If you study the ancient history books that document the (proto-Federation) 21st-century USA, you'll notice that internal division within the big empires has a long and checkered history 😁

My analogy is that when I drive by the army base on the way to the air force base, they don't shoot at me.

I chose Li Yong-Rui because he seemed least likely to ask me to do illegal stuff. He does seem to have dodgy ideas occasionally though.

@OP - Will pledging prevent you from mining, bounty hunting and doing missions? No, not at all.

It will most probably prevent you from doing many of the actual PP activities though, because it's buggy as hell (power CZs not spawning where they are supposed to spawn, holo adverts missing, "kill x enemy ships" type of weekly tasks sending you to systems where the spawn probability of such NPCs is abysmally low, merit payout of rare trading and escape pods is still disabled, etc etc).

Li Rong Yui ((?)always get this name mixed around)...was the best if you didn't like combat. At least back in the day, as he paid out a handsome exploration bonus but not one that came without risk. You either had to quickly farm the needed merits, in order to earn the following week's bonus (if I recall) and then go off and explore for the better part of the week and be back in time for the cycle, which didn't give you a lot of time to really go out and explore and cash-in for (had to keep it relatively nearby (about 5000-10000ly or so, if a casual player), or? You had go and do your weeks-to-months worth of exploring, then come back and partake in powerplay while holding onto that data and hope you didn't die, then wait for bonus day the following week, if I recall.

I remember one of those ways being scary, especially after I had heard the sad story of a CMDR who said his goodbyes to the community and stopped playing because he forgot to enter solo mode on his return trip back to the bubble and had 2-3 billion in exploration data (under the old unbuffed exploration system). He got interdicted and killed by another player in one of the Bubble systems. He admitted it was completely his fault but respectfully was done with Elite, as it had taken the wind out of his sails. Till this day, I'm surprised you still lose that data, yet? You don't lose your combat bonds or missions rewards. If anything, lose those other things and keep people's month's-to-year's worth of exploration data lol. I'm completely fine with losing my combat bonds and missions, it makes you play more carefully and there's risk. You start to look at your bonds grow and you nervously go, "errr...I better hand all this crap in now before I don't have a choice later..."
