Does this means the servers will be offline for a few hours to update on Wednesday?
Almost certainly yes, followed by the inevitable issues caused by servers not syncing up properly immediately afterwards, which will come as a complete surprise to some (hopefully different) players as usual, along with FC jump times pushing towards the two hour mark as we all decide to try and jump them immediately.
Fortunately FDev have anticipated such things and set the CG up to run for two weeks.
 
People will be too desperate to snag the colonization system of their choice.

Another possibility is that the colonisation UI changes will release but the ability to make claims will be locked behind the "suite module", and that will only be available later, maybe after the current CGs end for example. That would give players a chance to assess colonisation prospects and reccy out some systems before the gold rush starts in earnest.

Still be munching popcorn and breaking the patch day rule, of course :)

Unfortunately, this will be one of those days when the adage "Never play on patch day" will be universally ignored. People will be too desperate to snag the colonization system of their choice.

For Ascendancy, I indeed adopted the
"Never play on patch day week month quarter" rule, and I had no problems whatsoever!

I would say not by intent, they seem to want updates to finish before the end of the UK working day.
 
Hmm... I guess the "suite module" might be needed to actually deploy the beacon !? AfaIk there's no mechanic ingame that lets you actually deploy anything from within your cargo hold, right ? Except from SLFs and SRVs but these two need specialised hangars to do so. :unsure:

Or just an item that goes you in your cargo bay. Eject, target, then a special key to tell it to deploy.
 
Best hope not, since systems tend to spend large volumes of credits in aggregate and aren't balanced to be even slightly profitable.

Outgoings:
- trade imports
- bounties, combat bonds
- exploration and exobio
- mission payouts
- bartender sales

Income:
- trade exports
- fines


Maybe a small percentage or at least let the Architect manage the colony budget (income, expenses).
