DLC 19 Speculation

What is your guy's dream final dlc? Here's mine:
If my dream final pack, then selfishly it would be:

2. Ethiopian Wolf
3. Indian Wolf
4. Himalayan Wolf
5. Eastern Wolf
6.Red Wolf
7. Coyote
8. Coywolf/ Eastern Coyote
9. New Guinea Singing Dog
(Yes, I did stick 2 more habitat animal spots in there just to finish off all the dog/wolf-like canid recognized or debated species.)

Edit:
Totally forgot the jackals. facepalm
10. Golden Jackal
11. Black-backed Jackal
12. Side-striped Jackal

Or American Carnivores pack:

No interest on jackals or tanuki?

Aw, dang. I knew I was forgetting something. Yeah, I want the Golden Jackal, Black-backed Jackal, and Side-striped Jackal as well. And I do think the Tanuki and Bush Dogs would be nice additions as well but I don't want them as much as finishing off all the wolf/dog-like appearance canids.

None of our birds have flying animations, yet they fly in real life. That's why I questioned the necessity for all of the pack's birds to be flightless IRL when something like a turkey or an ibis would be equally viable in the game
I would personally prefer Scarlet Ibis, Roseate Spoonbill, Bald Eagle, Great Blue Heron, Great Egret, and various species of macaws if flying birds could be included so I could have realistic birds for the North and South American sections of my zoos.
On the topic of potential packs based more around a general theme/gimmick rather than a region of the world… here’s a silly pack idea that’s been rattling around in my head for a hot minute.

The Big and Small Animal Pack - featuring animals that are either the largest or smallest members of their respective groups!
  • Southern elephant seal (The largest pinniped and carnivoran. Common in captivity? Not really. The perfect headliner for this pack? Absolutely!)
  • Giant armadillo (The largest armadillo, obviously. Would presumably be based on the existing armadillo)
  • Coconut crab (The largest terrestrial invertebrate! I’d call this one a resource sponge since it’s a wholly new type of habitat animal, but really, this thing can’t be any more difficult to animate than something like a tortoise.)
  • Southern pudu (YES, technically the Northern pudu is the smallest cervid, but the Southern one is what I see on everyone’s wishlists)
  • Black-footed cat (The obligatory non-pinniped carnivoran. We have the smallest canid in game, why not the smallest felid?)
  • Rock hyrax (Included not because it’s the smallest of its group per se, but because it’s arguably best known for being closest related to the literal largest living land animal)
  • Exhibit Animal: Honestly there’s too many good candidates for this spot. Here’s a list within a list.
    • Brookesia nana, the smallest chameleon
    • Parson’s chameleon, the largest chameleon
    • Atlas moth, the largest moth
    • Phobaeticus chani, the longest stick insect(? An undescribed species from China might be longer)
    • Bee hummingbirds (WTE), the smallest bird
What do you guys think? It’s kind if a meme-y pack, sure, but I tried to include a few species that get discussed semi-frequently here (pudu, hyrax, chameleon) while also making it somewhat realistic to what Frontier would do (reused armadillo, cat, and maybe pinniped rig). I think this would be a fun little deviation from the norm.
I actually really love this idea. It's super creative and something entirely different theme-wise.

White-faced Whistling Duck! YAY!
Seriously, what's the probability we get anything substantial tomorrow?
By substantial I mean anything other than "next console bundle" or "we're working on PC stuff to be released in the future."
My most wanted animal is Bat-eared Fox. I don't expect to see them though. What I'd personally be excited about:
  • Black-backed Jackal, Ethiopian Wolf, Bush Dog, or Tanuki
  • Southern Pudu
  • Elk
  • Black Howler Monkey would be cute
  • Grey-crowned Crane
  • Civet or Mongoose
  • Barbary Sheep or Desert Bighorn
  • Musk Ox or Walrus
  • Ocelot
  • White-tailed Deer
  • or an Asian antelope such as Blackbuck, Nilgai or Arabian Oryx
Of these the one I almost expect to see is: Ocelot!

As @AndyZoos mentioned earlier, it's entirely depended on when the release would be.

If PZ's next DLC gets the traditional Easter release slot, then it's less likely that we're going to get something major in terms of announcements like we had with the Zookeepers pack. That teaser was made public in the Unlocked stream of September, with the pack being released in October. Easter is in April this year, so that would mean it's quite early to get a teaser of that significance (compared to previous years).

So then the question becomes how likely it is that PZ gets the Easter DLC slot. Well, there's no console version being released (which took the slot last year), as far as we can tell it's very much implied that there's no new PC2 DLCs on the horizon until at least after the May update so PC2 isn't taking the slot to release a DLC either (and it's unlikely for the update to take the slot as it's always been used for paid content). March has another console bundle release planned for PZ and from the past few console bundles we seem to know that Frontier doesn't release a PC DLC and a Console bundle in the same month (which is perfectly reasonable when you think about it); so it's unlikely that we'll be getting a March release for the PZ PC DLC.

So honestly, the more you look at it the more it seems logical that PZ will get the Easter release slot for its DLC, which would mean that it would be quite early to get a bigger tease the same way we had last time. I'd say you can count on the biggest section of the Unlocked being spent on PC2 and probably Elite, with PZ getting a small section as always and the majority of that is probably going to be spent on the console bundle. I'd reckon that if we're lucky we'll get a bit more than the "We're working on PC stuff as well", but I'm honestly not counting on it.

  • Marine Iguana (VU) [I would like to see the subspecies from the island "Española" added. Because it is the most colorful subspecies]
I find marine iguanas fascinating, I wanted them but I believe people on the forums suggested the iguanas are too difficult for captivity due to dietary needs. Know of any successful cases of marine iguanas in captivity? Regardless that’s a good coastal dlc

No there’s no cases of them in captivity but man are they cool and I would love them in the game and don’t care about captive presence lol

We have no idea. It's very hard to predict what's going to happen since the situation is constantly changing. For example, for Planet Coaster 2, we were in a situation were customers were mad at Frontier for releasing new DLCs with the base game being at terrible conditions, so Frontier had to say that they would focus on free updates first. However, now that we've had some major updates and the game is much better, people are already asking for new content for Planet Coaster 2. Maybe Frontier could see the Easter slot as the perfect moment to release a new DLC for PC2, since that period of time seems to be the one that brings more players to the games, so the best time to try to relaunch Planet Coaster 2 (which will have received 4 major free updates by then and people would be happy for new conntet to play with during the holidays). So, if Easter is given to PC2, and we have a PZ console bunddle in March, where do we put PZ computer? Postponing it to May seems crazy, especially with all the constant activity on the files on SteamDB (even on weekends). Early March for computer and late March for the console bunddle? That's a possibility too.

So what I'm trying to say is that we have no idea what's going to happen. The livestream can be very boring or very surprising. I would recommend everyone to watch it just in case, but being aware that we might not get anything to avoid big dramas is they only talk 30 seconds about PZ.

Actual reason is because of Equador/Galapagos goverment not allowing any native animal from Galapagos to leave the islands, apparently they are't that hard to keep.

Regardless, i think they would be a great addition to the game... as habitat animals

Ah I see
Wait then how about Galapagos tortoise? Were they an exception before that ruling?
The iguanas would be cool, idk I’m just weird about being realistic to zoos in real life

Galapagos tortoise aren't a exception, they simply happened to had a estable population on zoos before those rules were implemented, something that other Galapagos animals failed to acomplish.

If this makes it better, The marine iguana are more realistic than the titan beetle, considering that 1>0
