Elite Dangerous | Trailblazers Release Schedule

Indeed, I have.
And l'll do it again. The wonders of small companies with limited resources.

I have backups, but I'd rather not rely too much on them, as our backup infrastructure is mainly made of cardboard and ewaste.
well, I was talking about building steelplants - one does not rollback a 1500 tons Converter or a 6000 tons Blast-Furnace ;) Good Luck with that.....
No risk , no fun! (But a heck of profits by the taken shortcut - and the customers always happy because of saved time in Project)

Starting to look like we won't get the patch notes until the update is ready to be downloaded to our PC's, so when they say "released alongside the update" maybe that means alongside the time the update is released to download. Pity, I would liked to have spent a bit of time reading and studying them before that.

Just finished backing up my journals, star cache and bindings, suggest you all do the same, you never know with such a big update!
thx for the reminder - nearly forgot!

Yup- I cant imagine spending all that time to bother with putting a station somewhere. For heavens sake we have too many stations as it is. Fdev should have deployed their resources on advancing atmospheric planets and on player built cities and homes. It would be cool to see a player(s) build a real planet based society and civilization on a terraforming
planet 50,000 LY from Sol - that others could go see. Huge mirror glass sky scrappers, land-based ship stations, homes depots/stores, trees, ponds, flowers, meadows, lakes, etc..
WelI, played Sim City 2000 and got bored with 3000 when it came out. Never bothered with 'The Sims' or Sid Meyers civilisation type games since then.

Your point is well taken, but Sim City is not a space based game. ED has the potential to spread intrigue and mysteries across a galaxy filled with billions of planets.

hold your horses and add more time for

  • wait for update process
  • being lucky to... log in and join the game

Remembering Beyond or Fleet Carrier updates... hours of hours of not being able to launch the game, ugh
I thought the way round that was to launch the game the instant the update completed, or wait until a really low traffic time the next day.

If the download is big enough you might still have plenty of time before the Play button appears on the launcher.

Yeah! I thought they usually released the notes when the servers went down. No?
Based on years of previous updates the notes usually come out
  • During the week before the update
  • Just after the servers shut down
  • About the time the update becomes available for download
  • On a bit of their website at some point for us to discover.

There's games like TTD that make putting in industries worth your while even though you don't directly make money from them. This is even more so in OpenTTD with city growth scripts and modified industry chains.

In Elite the benefit is too remote unless a lot more is added to logistics or other gameplay to make the indirect gameplay worth it.

I firmly think the reason this is a "beta" is because they have no idea what the associated costs should be because there's no gameplay benefit to balance the numbers against and it's just based on the imaginary value players will put on system colonization which is unknowable because things have to be developed in secret without community feedback during development.

^^ much this - although there is a faint possibility that FD in future plans to implement parts of their management-sims logic into it - the programming and ai´s are there, just need a new paintcoat (renaming objectives/things from Zoo, Coaster etc.)

Well... reading all these pages, the time for waiting is over, now the time for wailing has come! ;):alien:
Fdevs, we love you 👍

  • there are already more than enough terraformed ELWs to hold a population several times that of the bubble
  • population in general seems to be stable rather than growing
  • there is similarly no shortage at all of raw materials, food, energy, etc. within the existing bubble
In everyone's experience with human history, the main rule has always been this: more than enough is never enough.
