Funny you should say that.
When I first saw the teasers for this, with a guessed outline added, I thought of this:-

It's about time. The Python has been lording it over the other mediums for far too long.
As a Python mk1 fan, it’s about time something might finally come along to challenge it. It’s had the crown for hundreds of years now. But I’ll believe it when I see it.
After so many years without new ships (in a game about spacesships) I'm happy to every single one. This one is beautiful tho
We had 4 new ships in 2024 though. I wouldn't call this ship beautiful, but a few tweaks could make it pretty.

It has been boxed in in quite a few ways by now. There have always been superior medium combat and explorer ships, and we got even more of those now. The medium pad cargo crown has been taken by the T8. The only thing the P1 has left is it's ability to run ice cold on a low emissions powerplant and still run a decent loadout. That leaves the niche of smuggling. The Corsair will probably take even that from it. It will be able to avoid scans by speed alone.
Given how little they have so far changed the ship from the concept art, I highly doubt they are going to do a change this large.
(I think the only change I have seen was that they, apparently, added a floor window to the Mandalay cockpit after the concept art was published. But I don't remember that lack-of-floor window even being visible in the concept art, so who knows.)

And with the powercreep in the new ships, I guess we won't talk about the iClipper any longer.
The Corsair is propably faster, has more cargo and is SCO optimized

Its quite an odd one, it sits between all Imperial vessels but given how the new designs have evolved its not that unsurprising.
After the Cobra Mk5 and now this, it seems like we're getting frequently requested ships so there's hope for the Panther Clipper yet, maybe.
