They suggested that they'd share more news with us during next month's Unlocked! So they got even a bit more specific than that.sounds like I didn't miss much and pretty much what I expected. PC DLC likely in April if there's news coming next month. Okay, technically next month is in three days, but I think we all know that means about a month from now.
This is definitely possible! Though, I still like my theory that Zookeeper was meant to be a bigger pack... And they split it into two packs to spread out the revenue. With the next pack having some of the more highly-requested species and actual zookeeper-oriented props. It's clear Planet Zoo is not Frontier's favorite child any longer and hasn't been for a good year or even two years. But it's a consistent seller. My guess is they were going to stop with Zookeepers, and then PC2's release was rough. They realized income on PC2 was going to be a bit under what they projected, so back to the consistent seller it is.
FWIW I'm still hoping for two more packs, but I guess we'll see what happens when the next pack comes out. Also, we have zero chance of flying birds or marine animals. It would have been amazing but if you're still holding on to that, let it go.
I mean, to be fair, the game is very much a labor of love. That's one thing I'll stand behind hard. From the jump they have taken fan suggestions and implemented them in the game. Most of the features and quality of life improvements in-game now were part of free updates because fans pushed/asked for them.A love how frontier is trying to/ tried to get the labor of love award for planet zoo on steam XD
"And now, we know our PC players have been waiting patiently for news. Well, guess what? We have some! Check out our socials soon!"I was speculating about this since October. Maybe they'll have their Unlocked host give a third disclaimer in the April livestream![]()
Still makes sense. I'd imagine they've spent 3+ years and $$$ developing Planet Coaster 2. They need to make that money back (and hopefully then-some). So focusing on them makes infinitely more sense right now...and considering planet zoo had over 3500 players active today while pc2 their new favourite child had less than half (1400)
They told us we have more news about DLC coming in April and the SteamDB is being updated constantly. They haven't left it to rot. The gap between DLCs is longer than last year by a few weeks probably but... This is the new normal. People just need to accept it, TBH.I don't know how Frontier came to the conclusion that having another wait period as long as the one between Barnyard and Zookeepers would be healthy for the community. I'm just tired at this point, I need something, anything to make me believe that they haven't left Planet Zoo to rot.
frontier is like that dad who just doesn't get the concept of communication they do so much for us and through their actions show that they are listening even if things come out not quite how we expect the only problem is they just dont know how to express themselves without action so we feel neglected even when we very much arent.I mean, to be fair, the game is very much a labor of love. Not gonna fault the full development team because the new livestream format doesn't give me the warm n' fuzzies.
At the moment I type PC2 even has less players active than PC1 (684 vs 710)and considering planet zoo had over 3500 players active today while pc2 their new favourite child had less than half (1400)
I think your memory is clouded then because there's never been a case where things were teased months in advance. It's always been less than 2/3 weeks at most, and far more often it has been a few days to a week tops.I remember at the beginning they were teasing even a free update feature(s) months before release to keep us speculating.
game launch they have been pretty bad at communication from right after DLC release all the way to the point where they would do their special livestream (which would be a release in 1-2 weeks). So essentially, every 3 months they would be silent for all but about 3 weeks of that. Their social media shares were what I call "feel good" content - nothing informational, just showing off what players had done, the community challanges, and the occasional animal picture for world "insert animal" day.The community manager though were active then at least, it was definitely something.frontier is like that dad who just doesn't get the concept of communication they do so much for us and through their actions show that they are listening even if things come out not quite how we expect the only problem is they just dont know how to express themselves without action so we feel neglected even when we very much arent.
...And even that might be conservative based on my memory. It's pretty fair to assume that when something gets teased it'll be a matter of days which is also just good marketing. Because you've got people's attention, don't have to rebuild hype, etc.I think your memory is clouded then because there's never been a case where things were teased months in advance. They would "work" in that format but given the way lorises are usually presented in zoos it would be just a bridge too far away from realism for me. They're generally housed in smaller enclosures. And I'm struggling to think of a single walk-through exhibit IRL that presents them. Doesn't mean they don't exist but... I'd hesitate to say they're even remotely common.Maybe, but IMO lorises would be fine in our current walkthrough exhibit given their similar locomotion to tree sloths
IDK, the longer the game goes on the less I care about all those things and the more I just care about the game itself and what it has to offer.I mean, I still remember good old expansion pack times in games where things would be teased long in advance. But it seems the audience was very different back then. It had a larger attention span than 2 year olds... And we had feature loaded packs, wheras now DLCs are just collectables.
With PZ DLCs it is always number of animals + 2 days = Days hyped pre release. And "hyped" is,a strong term here, it's not creating hype anymore, it's just a soulless info dumb. I miss engagement and special live streams etc.
A world without community managers is a boring world.
It is, TBH. That tortoise is pretty small IRL. I'd tend to agree they could/should have been habitat species but... The exhibit works for the tortoise just fine. Functionally and aesthetically. We have tortoises in glass terrariums, I don't think that's more realistic than walkthrough lorises
Aside from size, is all of this not also true of the sloth we have in-game?Lorises are tiny, move super slow, and aren't generally kept in walk-through exhibits. They also live in fairly small groups (2-4 adults).
Sloths aren't uncommon in walk-through exhibits. But it's a confluence of things... If slow lorises weren't potentially toxic, twice the size, and were actually common as walk-through animals? I could see it.Aside from size, is all of this not also true of the sloth we have in-game?
Obviously, hah! And I'd probably do that if they were put in-game because it's a fun challenge but... I'd much rather not have to deal with that every single time if I want to build an indoor habitat for them. Mostly because of the size of the exhibits in contrast to the animals in question, the size of the groups they live in, etc.You can turn the WTE into non walkthrough and use building pieces to "reduce" it's size. Or turn it into an indoor noctural house enclosure. The WTE would just be a way to get the lorises into the game. With the creative freedom you can then make of it what ever you want. Just like people using the wte with null walls to make the illusion of free flying wild butterflies.
