Elite Dangerous | System Colonisation Beta Details & Feedback

Smaller systems seem to get no shipyard, if not accidentally (since we have had no detailed information about it) build to an obscured system. My Feedback: What an abysmal design choice. Fdev should be aware that setting up a just a homestation might be something people want to do. Not everyone is interested in building a huge system. At least enable these features for the architect...
Otherwise it is simply disrespecting player time.

The colonisation template takes up a huge amount of space but this "added land" vanishes when the build is complete. ...
Like Xenia_K said, I don't see this blue hologram outline, all I see is the green template representing the complete settlement.
I've tried to eyeball it but it hasn't worked out. It would certainly be great if the extent of terrain flattening was shown in the template.

truth be told i didnt even think to look within the bubble for unclaimed systems. i guess i should have!. i agree about the SCO, just getting out of gravity wells and taking off from surface stations its been great. thankfully the barrier of entry to get an SCO is super low.
My favourite is to slingshot from fc to construction site on the other side of the planet.

Hey folks,

Just to assure you, your feedback is being gathered and shared. It would make our lives a lot easier if you are able to keep that feedback clear and concise, just so we can better get your message across.

Obligatory reminder that this is a Beta, which means things may not always work as intended. We do intensive testing in house but our teams are bound by the mortal constraints of individuality and have not yet harnessed the power to create multiple clones across the multiverse. There are some things that only testing on a large scale can bring to light and that's what the Beta is helping us with. We've already had some great reports and feedback so thank you to everyone so far.

When we have updates to share we will let you know.

On another note, if you encounter what you believe is a bug or issue please immediately report it on our Issue Tracker as this will help investigations proceed more quickly. Likewise if you encounter any account issues please speak to our Support Team so they can help you out.
I appreciate your words above, Paul.

I understand it's a beta, even it is on live servers.

I think it's absolutely correct to care about exploits and if necessary pause even an essential issue (system claiming) of Trailblazers.

But I do NOT understand, why you (Fdev) give next to nothing information about how you intended system colonisation (is the impact of building this construction as intended? Should this be the economy resulting of the way the system looks now? Is it correct that there ist no shipyard yet? Do the points in wealth/Dev.-Lvl./TechLvl/... result in what was intended? ...? ...?) Here we would need al least some concrete documentation when beta testing for you.

And actually I do ABSOLUTELY NOT understand the problem in communicating a bit more than nothing. You made everyone eager to take part of the beta with this great new feature, and now a lot of players are waiting just to be able to claim a system, but Fdev communicates nothing but "we are working on it..." for more than a week.
I guess no one is waiting for "it'll be online again friday at 10.53h".
Just f. e. "don't expect it with next mainentance", "just some more days", "it'll take 1-2 more weeks sadly".... anything.
But saying nothing, having an extended mainenance = a lot of hopeful players, that are very disappointed now.

I believe it may have been a paper launch to boost numbers before a corporate reassesment of future plans or whatever, to get the financing they wanted for ED, fingers crossed. Thought it may be copium for colonisation to actually get developed, and be more than the most montone and boring form of hauling in the game. Hoping for that SIKE! on the feature complete bit they were saying about colonisation. Not minding that colonisation, as it is right now, is shut down, in its current state it really shouldn't be in the game.

I'm saying it in relation to the game, you offered your guide as a solution and I'm merely pointing out that it doesn't solve the issue.
... ok.... finding out where something is in demand is like, trading 101. In the case of CMMs, it's literally just a case of finding literally any high tech, industrial or military economy.

If someone can't go to the galaxy map and do that... i dunno... do i start my guide at how to install Elite and log on?

personally i would not even contemplate colonisation without access to a fleet carrier unless you have a good supply of stuff a single jump away. I see colonisation as fairly advanced game stuff, FD have been doing everything they can to throw credits at us with gold rushes and immensely profitable CGs (I got over a billion credits for 1 CG before xmas and that was ignoring profits made doing the CG).

if you are solo you really need a FC for this... and tbh its good because for me it justified me getting one.
I claimed a drab system perhaps 130LY from the centre of the bubble, flyover territory basically. Don't own an FC (am still about 5bn short in credits, doesn't look like it's going to change soon unless I go for several other extended exobio tours), and honestly with all the technical issues plaguing FCs, owning and using one would've slowed me down. I was lucky in that I had markets within 1 jump to supply me with the necessary commodities, including CMMs and Insulated Membranes, but to be fair one of the reasons I didn't pick a system on the outer fringes of the bubble was a concern over supply and having to make several jumps back and forth.

It'll be interesting how FC jump performance develops, the further out the bubble extends. New, lightly developed systems don't appear to produce much bulk (my own is just a single outpost and supply is in the single/double digits at best) so I expect the use of FCs for bulk hauling to increase - if a large enough amount of players remain interested that is.

Edit - Oh, and SCO was a real life saver. Without that ... probably would've given up as I'm not one of those who watch/do other stuff while playing the game.

I just can't get it how market influence works
Why outpost on a planet still colony 100%?
There is security installation on same orbit (military influence) and science hub on surface (high-tech influence)

They didn't announce the feature as a beta for no reason, even if you might argue that "beta" is the wrong term.
In all fairness though, Frontier very clearly stated Colonisation is feature complete, so if someone doesn't like it in the current state on a fundamental level, this will not change unless Frontier do a 180 on their statement. All I'm expecting is some number tweaks here and there, bug fixing to the same extent as for PP2.0 (heh) and for the love of new players, refining the documentation around how it all works.

Nice...
If your 'community' is larger than only 1 member (which is not impossible), that's a great way to lose that too!
It is larger, but that isn't the point. They already didn't want to come back. I'm just trying to hang on to something I have a lot of time out into, but I'm not a gluten for punishment. I'll just look to another game where things are done better.

really? how do you go about doing that?
I admit i am pretty frustrated about it as well.... but only because i am locked out whilst loads of others get to crack on and with absolutely no feedback from FD on when it is likely to come back (even a "dont hold your breath it wont be this week" would do so i can move my ship).... but at the same time that is just me, i would never try to pressure anyone else to moan about it, and certainly not to stop playing it.
I don't have to pressure my members. They've been calling for me to do it since Gnosis. I keep saying no, give FDev time. I'm about done doing that.

ok, i get that its a beta and that you are looking for bugs, exploits, cheats, and unexpected happenings of all kinds.

but what happens when you move to the all-done stage? what happens to those CMDR's that have found some explote for personal gain? what happens to their stuff?

Dunno, if YOU are demanding 'your community' (and that community isnlt just you alone) not play any FD game, just because you are hacked off, I think it is exactly the point, don't you?

You should really get over yourself, and your "community" too, probably. If you enjoy the game, play it, there is plenty to do and enjoy. If not, then don't. But acting all entitled on the forums, reddit or any other social media will get you nowhere.

We normally do things as a vote, but i have kept Elite in the community against their wishes. I'm not sure it's worth it anymore. They want to make room for something that actually works and will bring people into the community. This isn't it.
