Elite Dangerous | System Colonisation Claims Unpaused

Constant mauve adders.
Guess this weekend is a bust.
They better fix it for next week when I've got time off work to play.
I hope it gets better this weekend. I am away next weekend so was planning on a decent shift. failing that FD needs to pause the timers as players losing 10s of hrs of progress and credits due to bugs their end would not be right

At least you can “do something” I’m just entering and exiting… over and over.. I usually love that sort of thing. Waiting for this contact to come online is the worst gaming experience I’ve ever had in my life.
I feel you - although if I could not have claimed yesterday, with the other 4 Systems i still would have enough to do ~ 800 Kto....

I'm just curious why there's a "without a proper queue" comment added in. I figure a queue system is far more reasonable than purposefully bricking your game so that noone can play in the hopes that enough players get frustrated enough that they take a break that could become permanent.

It's just so out there as an idea I insist it's hard to tell if it's meant to be a purposefully ridiculous joke or not
I for one would much rather have a queue to get in so I know straight from the start if I should just go and do something else than just have my active session terminated at random intervals.

@Paul_Crowther . OK, I'm utterly fed up. Which is the correct grind, cos I'm obviously doing it wrong. (a) fly to various starports, find a colonisation contact that is enabled. Ask to colonise valid, available (green) system, get red box "system claim unsuccessful". (b) ask repeatedly to same effect. (c) relog between each ask (d) try a different starport (e) try in horizons. (f) relog repeatedly. (g) just ask random colonisation contact for random one-star system until you find the one that you personally are actually permitted to colonise. Whats the mechanism, please. Obviously not all CMDR's are having the problem so clearly i'm doing something wrong.

So did someone able to actually colonize system cause for me nothing work tryed different systems from many surrounding stations it saying "Claim unsuccessful"

Hoping someone from Fdev is watching this thread. There seems to be a problem with the servers atm. for the past hour I, along with several other commanders have been Dc's from the servers, receiving connection error messages before we are all sent to the login screen. Is someone there aware of this issue? No word for the past hour from the team and no announcements as of yet. I hope someone sees this and responds or make a PSA about the issue.
They made an announcement that they were load testing the servers and monitoring the situation, that's why it's a Live beta.
Both Fdev and you and I are testing the servers, Patience

yep. I had to bail on the system I wanted however my 2nd choice had a working colonisation contact. I had 4 or 5 drop outs when trying to deliver the beacon but once I managed to stay connected it all worked. this was around 4:30am UTC (I woke up early and decided to give it a shot. also my carrier only took 15 mins to jump

O7 Commanders. I tried playing last night but the error messages were endless. If I go out to the guardian area or 500lys outside the bubble for some exploration will the error rainbow snakes stop?

Has FD actually responded to this problem or are they leaving us alone with it over the weekend?
Oh seriously it has imporved quite a lot since some hours ago - at that time every 30 - 120 sec an Adder came along.
Id you are referring to the claim-contact, they initially upon switching it on stated that they preserve the possibility to switch it off anytime if necessary

Pause your stupid update and pull it off the live servers so the rest of us can play without being interrupted by this broken POS!

Put it on a proper beta server and test it thoroughly before reimplementing back onto the live servers.
And have it all go to pot just as it is now as the mechanics that worked for the couple of thousand total each day that did the beta cannot handle ten times as many.
They did mention it was a load test.

Said load test does seem to be failing under the volume and impatience of the players however.

The load should taper off I think, fatigue and the ever lengthening supply lines will leave their mark. Even the FC jump times may lengthen again - it was back to 15-20 minutes just half a day ago.

What the System Colonisation Beta is not
  • A work in progress
I was puzzled by this when Paul posted it on Feb 25th. New features in any piece of software are invariably imperfect and need some work after first release. All the more so in ED, in my experience.
The last few weeks have been an indication that Colonisation is 100% a work in progress...

Not Work in progress = Feature complete. This means...
No npc help added for credits. Observing stations during construction quarter/ half complete. Rather than one magically appearing at the end. That sort of thing. No other frills will be added.
Does include, tweaking some numbers, and possible optimisations and fixing bugs, that's it.
