Elite Dangerous | System Colonisation Claims Unpaused

Last sunday is almost a week ago, slots are not a problem today nor are jump times, try it and see for yourself.
You don't have to convince me of anything, mind you. I'm just saying that some people were upset because the live beta interfered with their regular activity, and continues to do so in various ways. The jump times were just one aspect, another was downtimes, login problems, colored snakes etc.

Major updates for online games almost always led to increased downtimes. You better get used to it now or you're going to have a miserable life.

We are not talking about the downtimes during updates, but the downtimes because of beta problems. Not every online game is doing that. Also not every game is online to start with. So the impact on anybody's life is minimal, I hope.
But sure, the fact that many gamers - especially in the online category - are like you and willing to accept the concept of testing in production and its corresponding disadvantages for their play time, is certainly contributing to the situation that many studios can get away with it just fine, as already stated.
As long as it comes with fast movement, I am personal fine with that, too. As written before: others here are not so happy with it. Maybe they have a miserable life because of that, but they sure also have a good point.

If you're waiting for a Colonization Contact to go live in a system that has an Empty Triangle (as opposed to the completely filled in triangle) the Contact won't become available until the point where the triangle is filled in.

It is not known if Catelyn Voss still controls the Consortium, or even if she is still alive. Some rumours assert that she spent much of her personal fortune on progenitor cells, allowing her to artificially extend her life and maintain control of her criminal empire.

Others insist that she has retired, and is now living a life of quiet anonymity in a remote corner of space.

I have personally never played another AAA game that breaks down as often and as suddenly as this game does.
Star Trek Online? I think they still doing overtime on patch days...
Guild Wars 2 runs very stable, but updates tend generate more, smaller updates to fix the little bugs they created...

Just because a queue wouldn't work very well, especially for this game. If they implement a server queue, they'll pretty much have to leave it in forever. That would be just one more thing for players to complain about on the forums every day.

Just letting it crash out and self-equalize continues the status quo, requires no new work, requires no money spent on man-hours, and requires little to no explanation (as they are obviously doing right now).

A publicly-traded, AAA game development company frequently known for screwing their players would probably lick their lips at the bonuses of that latter proposition.

(and that post is fighting a straw-man argument; "noone [sic] can play" is entirely a lie, since some people can play. As for those who can't play taking a permanent break, well, they can't really play while in a queue either, can they?)

Though in that sense, 'letting it' crash out is not exactly the same as purposefully using it as a prohibiting factor. And none of the arguments against a queue system are good. "People would complain" I assure you people would complain less with a queue system when the servers are overloaded than with the game being unplayable with disconnects for a majority of players.

Sometimes there's too much activity and servers can't cope. If it has happened to games like League of Legends where I've seen queues a few times over the years, then it can happen to any other game too, Elite included

OK, I'm in coriolis station recently built and there is no colonisation contact. How's that possible. Station is wernervonsiemens's progress in Col 285 Sector YQ-K c9-9 Bug or exploit? Checked again, it's a bug, the contact is there now.

Still others opine that Voss is long dead, and that control of the Consortium passed to one of her lieutenants many years ago. The truth may never be known.

The colonisation contact has gone from greyed out to just not there on my outpost. Is this a bug or a new feature? I hope it can be fixed because i was daisy chaining

Now it's Ivory Cobras.

"Seeing pink elephants" is a euphemism for hallucinations caused by delirium tremens or alcoholic hallucinosis, especially the former. The term dates back to at least the early 20th century, emerging from earlier idioms about seeing snakes and other creatures.

Game was glitchy earlier today. Then it seemed to figure itself out for a few hours. Now I'm back to more Mauve Adders and 3min travel times between stars. Nvr seen this before. C'est la Vie
