3.9 will be deleted again? when is the final headstart without whipe??

It was always stated from the very beginning that there MIGHT need to be a wipe during gamma should something serious enough to warrant it.

That has transpired and MB has confirmed that we should all assume that there will be a wipe.

All backers already have a head start. In new ships, money, start locations or just simple time and practice.

Please stop with the hyperbole of "we have been lied to again". I'm not interested in derailing another thread with my views on offline and this is not you being lied to its simply a sensible decision.

I have been playing since day 1 of Alpha, recently took a break to be fresh for the launch, I am more than happy to wait a few more weeks if it ensures a better game. So chill people...

God sake. Gamma can shove it up its own exhaust then. Not grinding again only for FD to gimp another wipe on us. Been doing this since alpha 1 so enough is enough. Thought we were getting this as a head start and I'm almost certain it was a tag line for people buying into beta recently.

From a gameplay POV a fresh start at the 16th makes all the sense in the world. Your headstart is your knowledge of the game, and ability to fly the ships.

May I ask WHY you have been GRINDING during an unfinished game? Doesnt make that much sense to me.

Ummmmm to get better ships and equipment to do this "testing" thing. If you haven't been doing that it doesn't make much sense.

Sadly, I didn't take a screenshot of the beta sales page. Does anyone have a screenshot or the exact wording of the list of benefits afforded to beta backers?

I played the game. Trading, piracy, bounty hunting, exploration - and any mixture there of you can think of. This was to test the balance of the game, and not to test how much scrap I could stow into a Type 9. I ended up having raised approx 2 mill credits since beta 2 (where I had to make a clean start due to tech issues). I was entertained all the way, and never did anything just to get credits. I plan to play the game in the same way I think.

Our perception of gaming seems to be different. You like big toys, I like flying i space. But I hate grinding as much as you do, and then didnt do it in the first place.

Full wipe from 3.91 to Gamma. Gamma is released to give the alpha and beta backers an head start in the game. So there won't be a wipe after Gamma anymore. Whatever you buy, find or steel in gamma will still be your's in the full release on the 16th of December. It's all in newsletter 50.

Reading the above quote from David makes no sense, in the newsletter they stated that gamma is there to give backers a head start as a thank you from Frontier.

A friend of mine suggests that people are upset about wipes, because some were planning to grind up accounts/characters to sell on ebay at launch.

I can't see that working.. Why on earth would anyone buy an account with ships and credits, I know some modern gamers are lazy but that's ridiculous :)

Nothing about this was mentioned in newsletter 50. According to dev posts over the last few days it looks like there might be a wipe on release. :)

A couple of days ago I raised the possibility that there might need to be some form of wipe on release (or during gamma). This might be a full wipe, or it might be a partial one. That became complicated by people wanting a definitive answer, so the safe answer is yes. However the reality is until we've received enough feedback from gamma we don't know fully what might need fixing or tweaking.

Most likely its against the EULA anyway, but every online game has its "ingame assets to real money" conversion/black market. One form or another.

If a wipe will be necessary, it would be cool if we may keep the credits earned so far. But well I understand that this can't be foreseen.
