Elite Dangerous | System Colonisation Beta Details & Feedback

Hi, I obviously checked if it could be my internet so I run fast.com 55mbps next to it and a download something with a limit to 100 kb. I never in the 1300 hours I played now had this kind of problems and now I have it 3 days in a row since the colonisation got unpaused. Today I gave up and watched motogp in a stream of 1080 so that my internet is causing the problem is highly unlikely. I am not the only one who has breaking down after couple of minutes getting the adder cobra error codes
mate you might be completely wrong - Until just now I played 14 hours straight in a row without any disco, lagg, unusual FC-Spolltimes or whatever.
That you can watch some stream doesn´t prove your INet settings are 100% suitable for the SSL/TSL connection Elite wants....
But as you seem to be convinced - keep on whining

Instructed to build a satellite. Got a scientific installation instead. Maybe that's the same thing?

It apparently counted. So off to the next facility.

Would be nice to be able to convert Tier 3 points to Tier 2 points. Solo players will likely not be able to utilize all the tier 3 points alone. I don't have much planetary space so I am building mostly Large surface settlements. This means I am using up my Tier 2 points and getting tier 3 that won't likely be used.

There's an unfortunately confusing thing where the roles of installations and the object names of installations have an overlapping but mostly unrelated set of names, following the translation into English.

So your installation has a "Scientific Installation" model, but a "Satellite Installation" role.

Okay. That’s been probably dragging me down. I noticed a surface industrial port was really doing nothing as far as offering products to sell but I have focused on getting the system to show up as Industrial. So sounds like I need to now place some mining settlements. I think they work as both extraction and refining right? I was wondering if that was not the case.

Question develops then, does a nearby extraction system do the same thing by creating trade routes?
I feel like I'm being taken advantage of to achieve nothing that Random system generator could do and we're not being told how it works, what use it is, how things interrelate, where you need to put things, and doing a hell of a lot of grind and getting 5000 credits a week (for owning an entire system) for the privilege. I feel as if I should be sat in a corner wearing a cone hat.

I still can't build my military hub due to a bug that doesn't accept I've already build both prerequisites in the system. As I can't imagine only three commanders ran into this bug until now, so I'm asking again for votes at:

I feel things are getting mixed up in that issue, but due to the nature of the voting/contribution system in place, one has to favor mass over quality to be heard.
As I have to fear the doubling in construction point costs with my tiny system being full, I can't finish my port until I can place this hub. This is really annoying as you've already invested much into a single system to reach this point.

Okay, I am really confused now. I built a Large Security Settlement (Minerva) and now it shows as a medium but can land a large ship...
minerva station shows med.jpg
I just finished another security station, a meduim (Bellona) and now it shows up as a small station
bellona shows sm.jpg

and finally the layout for Bellona vs what I ended up with...

thats not bellona.jpg

Can anyone explain or had this happen? I am done with building for now. Rescources were for correct settlements but got this instead.

Suggestion:
Can we get a filter in the Navigation panel on the ship that can show only the bookmarks?
Or sort all of the bookmarks for a local system to the top of the list regardless of distance
Or leave just the bookmarks and let us filter all other items off
I got around that by bookmarking the individual stations I needed with a couple of words first to indicate which economy or particular commodity. Then use the bookmarks from the Galaxy Map whilst the ship is launching to set the destination. No need for Nav Panel!
Save me some clicks and key presses please by allowing filters or sorting. Time is money and hauling is the game.
Yeah, how is one keypress to get to the System Map actually different to one keypress to the Nav Panel?
The reason is that with all of the hauling that needs to be done and systems with high supply of materials, there are tons of FCs and possibly other settlements in between the source and destination that need to be scrolled through.

You can filter the Nav panel down to just stations and settlements which narrows it down enough in most systems, especially since if you do bookmark one the bookmark shows up on the panel.

LOL... they need someone to go through and actually standardize the language. In settlement to building terms I think Tiny = Small, Small(+) = Medium, Medium (++) = Large. I think that is correct. Clear as mud right?
Yes, Frontier needs a chart taped on the wall that all their developers can reference. Evidently nobody looks at the binder.

Also in normal language isn't:
Outpost - a little shack in the wilderness
Setllement - a small village
Port - a larger location designed for the comings and goings of lots of vessels.
Hub - a centralized location. Often including a port.

O7 Commanders.

I do not know if my system is bugged or I am doing something wrong. If it is the former, I suppose I am not the first, but I have not found anything searching the forum.

I finished earlier today the main station in the system I am colonizing. I went to a satellite nearby and selected a place for a surface settlement, the game told me to go away and back again. I have done it, I have also exited the game and entered again, jumped to other systems, doing an FSS, but the construction site does not appear in map or game even after 4 hours.

I have then started construction of an orbital installation and neither that appears.

Both constructions appear in the Active counts below the map, but I cannot deliver any building goods because there is nowhere to.

Surprisingly, Inara shows a surface station in the system, although with almost no data: https://inara.cz/elite/station/697963/

Bit of an aside... but one thing i find... i dunno what the feeling is... bemusing?... is how incredibly dependent on goods from Refineries this stuff is.
I pondered that for a while this afternoon, whilst ferrying the last of both kinds of composites from my choice of four surface refineries less than 13 ly away. (Inara? I never even met 'er!) In fact I slightly overdelivered on CMM by mistake, and had to flog that off to an Industry station in an extra hop on the next trip.

What else would you build a space station from if not composites and metals?

It's somewhat a flaw that the service economy is badly represented in game; obviously you do need the best of the best in terms of command and control systems, but those don't bulk many actual tonnes...

Another example where the economy is skewed I guess because the High Tech goods prices all need another zero on them really.

I wonder if there's a bit more diversity that could be added to requirements, without increasing overall volumes?
I still think it's odd that mats aren't involved at all.

I guess to my point above, a whole new cargo which resembles "Avionics" would make some sense. Only available at high-population High Tech. Because that's kind of what you need in space instead of "Machinery" because Space Is Hard.

I had the same problem. After 1 or 2 days the construction site appeared.

Yep.
Large Surface Settlement = Medium (++)
Medium Surface Settlement = Small (+)
Small Surface Settlement = Tiny ()

C'mon, its obvious. /s
LOL.. I hope you are kidding.... if not this is crazy!!! I would have just made 3 more trips to get the large. What I am really wondering about now is what did I get in Security points for this??? I was supposed to get 4 points for the "meduim" that turned out as a small. Did I just get 2 points or the 4?

Anyone know how to make a station with a lot of tritium for sell?
Drop a T-9 full of Lithium-6 into a neutron star, that should do it.

Or more seriously, looks like you need a big Refinery/Extraction economy. I'd guess you need to do all the right things for that and make sure it's in a system with a good amount of Tritium hotspots and think carefully about where you put the Facilities.

Looking at Inara the near-top systems for Tritium are all Refinery/Extraction not just Refinery. (The top 5 are there because they have huge populations which is a different effect and you're not going to get a Trailblazers colony to 5 billion any time soon...)

He's not kidding, it happened to me too. In my case my medium agri station was flagged as small - then I landed my T9 on it without problems. If you believed all that you read in-game you'd go crazy 🙃

or the (with specialized ships/suits) explorable Water-Worlds - which would be much easier for FD to do.
Game-mechanics like Exo-bio, some 20-30 spiecies in different shades....
Instead of a fighter bay you have to load a submersible/dinghy-bay and a new scuba-suit for the pilot.....
Including heavy grind-engineering for a noise-supressed harpoon ;)
actually, by the naming "Vanguard" of the next update - i guess they are opening COL 70 Sector.....

For all those that said T3's could not be done solo...

I have done the "impossible" to 99.7% accuracy. I DO NOT own a fleet carrier. My options were to truck all that cargo 60k ls away from the sun to the primary port at the edge of the bubble. It is doable, a massive undertaking as a single person, but non the less doable with the current sim. I had 1w 1d 18h and 37min left to complete it. Therefor I completed it in less than 3 weeks.

Now what isnt shown is the hauling burnout was strong. That was 364 trips in a T9 with a size of 744. Each time at 60k ls.
To achieve it. I was spending all my available free time, and then some, on just trucking to make that happen. That meant coming home from work, doing minimal chores or traveling, and focusing on just trucking alone with Crunchyroll on the other monitor to help the sanity.

Again. It is not ideal for everyone. Only take the task that you can allocate proper time. I went big during the gold rush an hour after the first colonization launch and paid for it. I initially didnt know what i signed up for but with the system I claimed, I was not gonna back down. My stubbornness and determination (and very supportive wife that understands hyper focusing a goal) is what got me here.

Im gonna finally go rest now. Fly safe everyone O7
