DLC 19 Speculation

I still think its a coyote and the key art is just at a weird angle. But the tail is throwing me with a stripe straight down it and we can't really tell it's length due to how it's being held....what if it's a South America Grey Fox (Chilla)View attachment 423206
I'd love the Chilla personally. I think the ears are smaller than Chilla though. Whatever it is, Frontier did a great job on it!

Ok really thinking it is a Pampas fox if not a coyote. "The Pampas fox resembles the culpeo or Andean fox in appearance and size, but has a proportionately wider snout, reddish fur on the head and neck, and a black mark on the muzzle. Its short, dense fur is grey over most of the body, with a black line running down the back and onto the tail, and pale, almost white, underparts." ....ohh I hope we get Pampas Grass!!

That brings up a good point in foliage! I hope we get Pampas Grass finally!

Good morning, guys. I didn't watch the live broadcast, but I learned about the lineup today. To be honest, I am neither excited nor depressed, because I have always followed the Eastern wisdom of "no hope no disappointment". It is worth celebrating that our animal list has finally exceeded 200 (if I remember correctly), and those who have been wanting to get Rhea for a long time finally got their wish. At present, the only thing I am interested in this DLC is White-faced Saki, we finally have a second South American monkey. But through this DLC, I thought of something not so good. First, I feel that the current financial situation of "frontier" is really tight. The current lineup of this DLC hardly needs to make new animations. It seems that the problems of PC2 have made their human resources very tight. Second, I think flying birds will definitely not appear in PZ1. We can give up the discussion of this topic. After so many years of waiting, the birds we get are still pretty much the same, and there is no essential breakthrough, so I don't think we will get flying birds in the PZ1 era.
Finally, I have a question. If we really get a DLC with a Mexican or Latin American theme, what is this decoration hanging in the air in the leaked promotional picture? It looks like Chinese "paper cutting art". Can anyone familiar with the local culture explain it? I have limited knowledge of the local culture of Mexico and Latin America. Thanks

Those are papel picado - handmade banners made of tissue paper. They're common in Mexico, especially during holidays or special occasions.

In Mexico especially there is a custom of cut paper as well hung in banners like that in many colors, “papel picado”

But also remember that Mexico does have some Asian ancestry, so it's possible it was inspired by Chinese paper art.
I'm only assuming, of course. If im not mistaken, papel picado isn't just Mexican, I believe it's also in Spain, but still interesting nonetheless

  • American Flamingo - Caribbean/North/South America
  • Chilean Flamingo - South America
  • White Faced Saki - South America
  • Greater Rhea - South America
  • Bighorn Sheep - North America
  • Coyote - North America
  • Key Art - Clearly a SW USA or Mexican theme

I originally thought Central America was a potential theme, but the Saki is a narrow miss and the Rhea just definitely not.
Latin America is a possibility because, like Eurasia, could be used narrowly or broadly. New World or Americas are still on the table too.

If a general Americas theme, Black Bear and Ocelot are my choices for the last 2.
If Latin America, I'm going with Coati and either Ocelot or Mara - but Frontier likes oddball picks. My oddball pick would be Agouti.

And I'm not a fan of the coyote, but man it looks great on that poster. In fact, I think this is one of their best posters.

Anyone else thinking it's possible we're only getting the five and this might actually be a scenery pack? With the promised animal pack at a later date?
Getting five habitat animals in a scenery pack would certainly be a first... So I'm doubting that.

Only scenario in which that might happen is if that thing folks are speculating to be a saki is actually just an exhibit animal.

Something from the top of the metawishlist has to be in this pack. Coati is the obvious pick now that they went with saki for the new world monkey.

Ocelot i would love as well, just not as much as the mara. Plus if it is the mara will increase even more the packs variety: bird, canine, ungulate, monkey, rodent.

I feel like the coati must be in this DLC... It's the one animal everyone's been consistently asking for, and one of the most iconic choices for a (Latin) America pack.

If the coati somehow isn't in this pack and is instead replaced by the American Black Bear, then I feel like the next DLC is gonna be the final one with all the cool animals.
It would make sense: the 20th pack rounds up the animal roster with some much-needed and requested species like Secretary, Tree Kangaroo, and maybe even coati; assuming it will be an animal pack, it will bring the total number of animal packs to 10, which is equal to the number of scenery packs - a perfect conclusion for the game's life cycle.

Still, I hope it's in here
