Don't mean to be too negative but, honestly, I've never thought the Chrome/Gold paintjobs were anything special.
I mean, the effect is done very well and they look very nice on certain ships but they're not something I'm waiting to buy for every ship I own.
The SCO ships have been around for a year now and, presumably, were in development long before that.
Is it not about time we had some of the Pharoah, Salvage, Mechanist or Squadron paintjobs (not to mention the easy ones such as Vibrant and Tactical) getting released for them?
Like I said, I get that the Chrome/Gold paintjobs do look nice but I can't help wondering how many people are buying them for the new ships simply because there's very little else to choose from?

I think they look tacky, for people who are trying to compensate for something (i.e. being poor...probably).
I had to buy a ship-kit I wasn't that keen on to get a paintjob that I liked for my Mandalay, so yeah more paintjobs, how am I supposed to play space-barbies if I can't get the right outfit. Besides gold would make my Mandalay's butt look big.
I guess some people aren't bibliophiles.
I dunno.
Personally, I like the chrome paint for ships with that vintage "Flash Gordon" vibe or, possibly, ones that look a bit "Naboo".
I have a chrome iEagle and iCourier and I think the other imp' ships would suit Chrome too but that's about it.
Honestly, the best place for Gold paint is on a rapper's Lamborghini IMO.
Some people enjoy a finer depth of esthetics of how ship visually connects with environments it is in. Pretty simple and no need to judge others on own limited stereotypes and insecurities.
Can't say I like Gold but Chrome is classic.
