DLC 19 Speculation

Not fully confirmed but i dont see this being any other monkey. The big bushy tail hanging down seems a pretty trademark saki thing
Yeah, I'd say if that flag doesn't look like Saki, then it doesn't look like monkey at all. I think people that "saw" Owls and Vultures are closer than Howlers and Tamarins.

I understand people wanted different SA monkey (so did I) but this is Saki

Tbh the biggest argument that this isnt a owl, vulture etc is that why in the nine hells would you not put that smack dab in the front and center.
Like chances are if you had that it would have the same marketing value alone than the rest of the animals combined

The Saki’s a weird choice over the Howler, Spider. Squirrel Monkeyz or even a tamarin

But, it’s a New World Monkey so there is absolutely no way I’m unhappy we’re getting it. Better this than no NWM besides the capuchin
I can totally see why.
You can dodge all the hussle of dealing with super complex new animations and prehensile tails shenanigans you would have with the howler and especially spider.

So if you consider uniqueness, ease of making and captive presence the saki is pretty much the ideal choice

It's an incredibly common in captivity new world monkey; I'd say it's a logical addition to the game and not really that weird.
Fair points. I personally still think it’s a weird choice but definitely not a bad choice.

It seems to be a good, within realistic possiblities, DLC. Two birds and 1 primate is already amazing.

Im really happy with the saki, rhea & american flamingo, all of them are very welcome and high on my wishlist!

Not that interested in the coyote and bighorn sheep but they might grow on me. I must say the coyote looks really good on the cover, so there's that!

Im pretty convinced the last South American spot will be for the coati (although if it’s the Brazilian porcupine I may actually lose my mind)

For the North America pick, Black bear seems like a good choice, but I feel like we’re not considering a major player:

The Bobcat. I know a lot of people won’t like this one but it is the cat of this region and a pretty popular name. I personally wouldn’t mind it as I would like a medium sized cat for the Americas, I know more would like the ocelot but doesn’t matter to me that much.

In a vacuum I'd be ecstatic for the bobcat but it's a somewhat tough sell when we've already got one North American "clone" carnivoran confirmed, and the ocelot is on the table too. Personally I wouldn't mind getting it alongside the coyote one bit, but I would prefer the ocelot.

Yeah, I was wanting the coyote and Bighorn much more a Few years ago than I do now, but they’re not bad inclusions IMO

Honestly aside from NWM and American birds, the two open spots will determine if I love this pack or just like it a lot

Personally this is what my ideal outcome would look like:
  1. Coyote 🌟
  2. Desert bighorn sheep
  3. White faced saki
  4. American flamingo
  5. Greater rhea
  6. Patagonian Mara
  7. Muscovy duck

Now obviously a third bird has never happened before, and I am sure many of you are surprised I picked the Muscovy over my beloved baby! The answer is simple though, the Muscovy has a farther range, is super common in zoos, and I think will fit the theme of the pack better. All while providing good interspecies enrichment for a whole ton of animals. The Patagonian Mara is a no brainer to me with the Rhea being announced.

As much as I want the coati, we have had a lot of them as of late. I also personally want these two more.

Still the white nosed coati is easily my #3 option for animals I wish could be in this pack.

They kinda go hand and hand though. We’ve got the dog of the desert, now we need the cat. Plus if the last 2 animals are South American that would make the ratio 5-2 which isn’t really balanced if it is Americas. 1 of them almost certainly will be North American. I would prefer the black bear, but frontier does love cats..

Muscovy Duck would be amazing! I'd be happy with even one of any of those three (coati, mara, duck) showing up.

I think the Bighorn is "suffering" from the same thing as the Blue Wildebeest.
Pretty much everyone agreed that the Blue was the wildebeest that should have been in the base game instead of the Black.
Same goes with the Bighorn. Once it's included, most everyone will use the Bighorn over the Dall Sheep, but there's just a bit of grumbling that we had to use 2 animal slots to get it.
I think the grumbling has a bit more merit for the Bighorn because Dall Sheep took up a DLC slot, while Black Wildebeest was in the base game, so it's more excusable.

I get that it is disappointing when people don’t get the lineup they are hoping for but I really do not understand why people say that an animal pick is “wrong” or “unnecessary”.

It is ok to complain but just say “it’s not what I want personally” because it’s entirely subjective.

So it seems that everyone thinks the coati has got to be in here (species is debatable but it's probably more likely they go for the more popular one).

As for the other mystery animal, the mara and ABB seem to be the front runners. Which of the two is more likely? Do you think there will be an attempt to do an event split of North and South America?

Coati, because it's way more popular. If people had to pay for ABB, there'd be a riot😂

No, but honestly, the only contenders for the next anniversary would be the ABB or the Nile croc or the blackbuck
