DLC 19 Speculation

Yeah, in a different world this would a neat addition to an americas/latam pack.
But as is the pack is already pretty heavy on the "clones" for me, so im really hoping the last 2 spots are something fresh.
Me too, but knowing their love for ungulates and uninspired clones we can easily expect another one in that pack.
I would love to see coati so actually if we get it I’m fine with everything else.
It would not be the first time when I’d buy the pack just for 1 or 2 animals I really like.

Eh, if i'm being honest there's nothing less exciting in SA right now than a wild camelid, they don't really bring anything new or exciting from the table other than being literally the wild version of the alpaca and llama, and because we already have the two domestic i don't even thing that diversity is a good reason to have those.
Sorry but couldn’t disagree more.
I think that guanaco or vicuña would be great but not in a pack full of clones like this.
Wild species are not just versions of domesticated animals and having llama and alpaca should not exclude their existence in the future roster because they are so much more.

Maybe, but building an enclosure for them wouldn't be that much different than the llamas and the alpacas we already have in the game.
If we're to do any kind of ungulate, a pudu would be way better, in my opinion

If there's another ungulate in this pack, the white-tailed deer or South American tapir would be the most exciting for me, followed somewhat distantly by the southern pudu and elk. A wild camelid is so far down my list of priorities that I'd definitely be a bit miffed to see them.

That said, I'd also be perfectly fine with no further ungulates. I still think American black bear and Patagonian mara would be the dream duo, simply because it saves the coati for a hypothetical future rainforest pack that doubles down on SA representation.

Is frontier becoming self aware of their ungulate obsession?? 😱 character development
I mean honestly it was carnivores before Arid right? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think people cared that much about getting them until we got 5 in one pack lol. Which was then followed by hoofstock heavy Eurasia and Barnyard. But weren't people unhappy with all the carnivores? I remember that being a critique of grasslands (honestly one I can get behind).

IIRC, people weren't too happy about the ungulates in Wetlands either... Back then, quite a few people thought the water buffalo was weird and that the Nile Lechwe was unnecessary.
I'm honestly really glad we got them - although I would have preferred the domestic species. That's how I use the Wild Water Buffalo anyway

I'm sorry but with how much these last two slots could make or break this pack for me I really hope we don't see a second/third ungulate taking up one (or worse) both of them. The same goes for carnivorans, unless it's the coati. Give me a rodent, a second monkey, a reptile, or (god forbid) a third bird instead of the group that's been utterly spoiled for the past while now.

I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out we get one or two more, but I'd sure as hell be disappointed.

How would people feel if we got the 3-banded armadillo in a slot? Because it's clear that a carnivoran or an ungulate would break it for most...

Personally, the 2 I'm hoping for (assuming all our predictions are true) would be the Argentine black-and-white tegu and also the Patagonian mara

Would break it even more for me. At least with another carnivore or ungulate they'll look different like the vicuna/guanaco are different from the other 2 in the sense that they're not domesticated. But an armadillo is just such a narrow group to give a second species to, I don't think we really need variety in that category. There are zoos with such versatile ungulate collections, so with every new one we get we can make ours a bit more unique, but with a second armadillo? hmmm

I think one armadillo is enough and I'd be a bit iffy on it, but a mara and especially a tegu would immediately shoot this up to one of my favorite packs. Both of those would be insanely good additions.

I would welcome a "short-snouted" armadillo happily, not only do I find them more appealing to build for given I tend to gravitate towards realistic rosters within European parks I also think that they are different enough from the nine-banded to be interesting inclusions for the game (The fact that I have worked with six-banded armadillos and I consider them to be the cutest little guys helps me to form this opinion though lmao).
Although I do agree that a mara, an agouti, a new world porcupine, a tamarin or marmoset, tegu,... has more value for the roster as a whole, I'm okay with never getting another armadillo for that matter.

Rating animals by additionality, I don't think another armadillo (other than perhaps the giant) would add much. You see many ungulates in zoos, you see two species of flamingos in some, but you don't often see two types of armadillos, or at least people wouldn't notice it much. It would be too similar to the one we already have, which may be less common in zoos but far more recognisable to a general audience.
