Visited Central Florida Zoo to talk about Bald Eagles in my newest video! I go to the zoo around the halfway point, I spend the beginning near a conservation area for Bald Eagles. Check it out above if you can! Any likes, comments and subscribes are appreciated but not required.

In May, I am going to be traveling through Pennsylvania and will be staying in Pittsburgh. I would have loved to see African wild dogs that were there untill the incident a few years back.
Regardless I will finally get to see the National Aviary located in Pittsburgh. Can you call it a “zoo”?

Today I visited the Hellabrunn Zoo in Munich. What an amazing park! I've spent a little more than 6 hours to see it all. I've been lucky and managed to see most of the animals. The only major animal I didn't see was the Eurasian wolf. I'll try to share some pics when I have some free time one day.

So, the Houston Zoo opened up a new Birds of the World section. 3 aviaries:
  1. North American songbirds
  2. African bird
  3. South American birds
We have vultures, grey-crowned cranes, hammerkops, flamingos, and spoonbills. Lovely area.

Also, the Carruth Natural Encounters building is closing. It's a shame, I have memories of little me going through the piranha tunnel. But, if I'm not mistaken, that area is meant to be replaced by an all new Madagascar section

Today I've visited Stuttgart Zoological and Botanical Garden. My main goal was to see the quokkas and fanalokas.
And I was lucky, I'm sooo happy. :giggle: First time ever for me seeing these species.

A bit of quokka spam. Incredibly cute!

And fanaloka. Such a beautiful and fascinating animal.

Currently on my little Berlin trip. And ticked of the first Zoo of my list today, which was Zoo Berlin.
Didnt manage to take many picture unfortunately, manly because my phone just doesnt really take nice pictures and because im more of a see and take in rather than photograph kinda guy.

Anyways, had a great visit and saw alot of very cool animals and got blessed with alot of active out and about animals. Maybe it was because there were very few people at the zoo, despite it being a beautiful day with no cloud in side.
Some of my Highlights were the chevrotain and rufous elephant shrew, to really cool animals i didnt count on actually seeing.
Made friends with a cassowary who was super interested in my for some reason and a crowned pigeon who just sat down on my shoe while i was in the free flight hall of world of birds.
Also saw the pandas active with their two cubs which ofcourse were stupidly adorable. Same for the pygmy hippo calf.
Also some close encouters with a sleeping tiger, lion tailed macaque and a bathing rhino, all right up beside the glass.

Today marked zoo number two on this trip: The Tierpark Berlin.
Now that i have seen both i can appreciate the decision to keep both of berlins zoos after the reunification of the country.
They both very easily stand on their own as a fully fledge zoo and both do really have a unique vibe to them.
The zoo has this very stereotypical city zoo vibe, where everything is alot more compact and on a smaller scale du to space restrains.
Whereas the tierpark is way more spacious and natural, like there is so much "empty" space where there is just forest its crazy.
And one cool thing they manged to achive is that their animal collections dont overlap much.

But one thing i really wish is that they maybe relocate some animals out of the zoo into the much bigger Tierpark. The great apes were the first one i thought of. They are currently in the primate house which doesnt really hold up to modern standards (but they are going to redo it, which is great). So ideally they split them up and keep orang and bonobo at the zoo and move Gorilla and chimp to the tierpark.

Especially since all the new stuff they build in the tierpark is super cool. The alfred brehm house is a perfect example of how to repurpose and old building into something new, the himalaya trek is incredible and the new african elephant habitat they are currently building looked insane from the sneak peak i could get on the construction site.
And with all the potentially available space im super curious about how that park is going to look in like 10 years.

Saw alot of cool animals. The highlight definetly was the aye aye, but it was also cool to see the big focus on rare hoofstock which they have a huge collection of.Like pzewalski horse, onager, kiang, somali wild and mountain zebras is a pretty respectable roster of wild equids for one zoo to have. Dont even get me started on the deer haha

They also have Grevy zebras, or am I wrong? 😅
But yeah, they have much wild equids

The zoo has grevy zebra and i dont think i saw a second zebra enclosure. Could be wrong tho
Both Berlin parks have the grevy zebras. In the Tierpark they live together with North African ostriches (these with the red neck), wildebeest, eastafrican Oryx and the Thompsons gazelles.

Could it be that what previously was their enclosure is now part of the new elephant enclosure? Otherwise i might have missed that one

I guess you missed it, because the savanna, where the grevy Zebras and other species live, was finished in 2023, would be kinda weird, if it is now part of the elephant enclosure. Did you see the giraffes? The Grevy zebras live beside them, if I have that correctly in mind

Tierpark Berlin has always been one of my favorite zoos, and the AB house is one of my favorite zoo buildings. With the renovation of the elephant house, their Africa section can compete with the best Africa sections in the world. I previously found in a "2035" plan that they have many grand plans, and I hope that the bad global economic situation will have less impact on this.

Yeah, if they keep going with the quality of their new stuff the future is going to look good!
