Elite Dangerous | Colonisation Facilities & Markets

I wouldn't build any economy influencing facilities before the 2 week deadline for "reversing the unintentional change" has passed, and then add half a week of "grace period" for that. So, not before next weekend. And even then, there's a good chance that all econ. influence is completely broken even if the planetary influence is reverted everywhere.

My own plan is to complete a commercial outpost around an empty planet by next weekend, see what economy it ends up with, and then place one econ. influencing settlement on the planet. If it works out as it should, continue with established plans; if not, keep waiting for official comms about what's going on.

What's missing at the moment is the trigger for the economy to recalculate. We will see what happens when you build something new at the moment.

Still waiting on feedback regarding whether economy calculation at the moment actually triggers or not. There were some reports, but as long as noone builds, we won't know when it works again.

I’m sharing a setup that worked moderately well. After many frustrating attempts and more than 70 structures built completely in vain, this one almost works. I'm sharing the planet and structure details for your future builds and general reference. I'm not satisfied with the results, as the economy is still extraction-based. At least it produces a moderate amount of steel, titanium, and other materials used for colonization.

The economy at the station is at 0.9 Extraction and 0.9 Refinery, but extraction predominates. I suppose that's why it doesn't produce more stock. It's still not the solution we need, but I hope it's helpful.

Your Coriolis and your Ocelus under construction are in which location during construction? Location 0 or 1? It seems to me that location 0 is always close to the planet. I had 2 free locations. I built my Coriolis and my Outposts several times in location 0 (closest to the planet) and once finished, the remaining free location (Before 1) becomes the free location 0. I apparently still don't understand anything about locations. Should we build in the location furthest from the planet to recover all the influences and markets below.

So i just build a Refinery Hub at a new Coriolis.
No change in the market => economy influence still not working at the moment.

Did those locations happen to have rings?
From my experience, if a body has rings, if you try to build something in slot 0, it will create another empty slot 0 or swap with it, maybe because it wants that slot 0 reserved for an asteroid base.

Did any of your builds in this location with your Extraction/Steel economy happen in the last week? - i.e. are any of these recent builds and do you get steel as well?

I found the opposite to be true. I purposefully tried to place a normal coriolis in slot 1 in orbit around a gas giant but the colony ship automatically placed it in slot zero which is, tbh, a right pain to get at for hauling.

It is currently best to concentrate on one economy type at one planet.

Mixing economies has no beneficial impact. Only exception so far: noone know how to produce certain commodities, like CMM Composites. Or getting a refinery contact. For cases like that it might be feasible to build one special building.
Industrial settlements have refinery contacts. I placed one on a moon, with nothing in the orbital slots.
It has a refinery contact. Oddly after last Thursday it also produced CMM Composites, and then stopped 2 days later.

Torques me off that I can build a planetary outpost (with large landing pads -- not settlements) that only offer three items on their markets. Takes about 37,000 units of delviered materials to build. This should change so they offer the same variety of items as an orbiting outpost. Inconsistent, and I think wholly unacceptable situation.

Yes, that is what i mean. There is no reason, why you would ever want to mix an industrial settlement with an extraction. UNLESS you want a Refinery contact.

And these are things ... Where some communication would help. I mean... What is the point of the Hubs?
What is the point of the small settlements? Why build something that takes up a slot, costs almost the same, but has little use? Ok, roleplay. And refinery contact.

Why would i ever build a Hub instead of an L Settlement? Same benefits, market, no negative stats, 2 T3 construction points instead of 1, higher economy influence... Are thsy just straight up better? Or do Hibs have a benefit we dont know about? Why would i ever build a civilian hub? Whats the point of a hub without economy influence, landing pad and market?
Are we really supposed to build an oupost for 9 hours, then a hub for 4 hours, and then supposed to know what magically is supposed to happen?

Why would i ever build a medical installation instead of government or science installation? If i want Hightech the research station is better..if i want SoL, either government or an M settlement are better.

The rules of the game we've been given do not make sense. It's like having chess pieces but neither the starting lineup nor the rules how they move. With what we are given we put the white figures on the white tiles and the black ones on the black tiles.

And when we do something, we dont know whether it works as its supposed to, or does nothing because it's broken. Because we arent told what the expected results are, and without an expected result, you cannot test.

Hey Frontier did you fix the economy of new buildings? Can we safely build for easter holidays?
Ive seen 2 reports today from people their economy fixed after a new construction.

Cant confirm.

Finished a Refinery Hub yesterday, and the Coriolis around the planet shows no economy influence.

Was the Coriolis finished as well during the last week, or was it spinning already?
Not operational yet. But has market.

Edit: we built working economies in non-operational stations before. And economy influence was quasi instant before.

I have coriolis built after the patch 9th. Its 100% colony.
Waiting for it to activate fully.
Its in slot 0
Waiting for wednesday "server update"
Waiting for thursday maintenance
Waiting for friday possible "fixing"

After 7PM UK time friday Im gonna build to test if it works.

Me too, great minds..and all that :sneaky:
If the Coriolis gets activated, I'll build a Research Installation next to it, because the planet underneath it's non-landable (that's another experiment-> see if it matters anymore).
