Elite Dangerous | Colonisation Facilities & Markets

Coriolis so 15000ish equivalent population ... it's half-Refinery (which produces Tritium) and half-Extraction (which doesn't) ... so effectively only 7500 population working on the Refinery side, and Tritium is a low supply commodity.

8t is lower than I'd expect for that even so, but I wouldn't expect much over a few hundred tonnes.

(How sure are you that someone hasn't just bought it all up for their Fleet Carrier? Tritium supply regenerates extremely slowly.)
Thanks. I check the supply of tritium every day or two, so pretty sure nobody's buying it. The population has stalled at around 9,500 despite there being about eight bases in the system.

"StationEconomy":"$economy_Extraction;", "StationEconomy_Localised":"Extraction", "StationEconomies":[ { "Name":"$economy_Extraction;", "Name_Localised":"Extraction", "Proportion":0.500000 }, { "Name":"$economy_Refinery;", "Name_Localised":"Refinery", "Proportion":0.500000 } ], "Taxi":false, "Multicrew":false, "StarSystem":"Col 285 Sector YE-R a34-5"

Not sure how to interpret this though 🫤 🙂
But that's absurd, I shouldn't have to get into the logs to see how it's working and calculating.

9500 total population with a Coriolis in the system is weirdly low, which might explain the lack of Tritium supply.

(Similarly the low quantity could be low development level, but with an industrial settlement and a refinery hub and a Coriolis in the system you should have plenty of that too...)

Strange, though.

It's not really a predicament or not a predicament until we have waited two weeks, as was announced. Nobody's going to learn anything useful until that point.
Someone has to be the one to decide to see if that 2 weeks timeline is accurate and I'm not going to be that one. So someone has to 'take one for the team' and be the one to role the dice and haul. If not as expected, is that a different bug, is the two weeks not accurate \o/.

Im sure someone will, just is not a good place for your game to be in.

🛠️ Frontier’s Trailblazers update: Fixing bugs by creating new species of logic 💫

Frontier gave us new update. So… after building 4 glorious Refinery Hubs and 1 Planetary Port, I expected a beautiful, titanium-scented Refinery economy to flourish under my boots.

But Frontier said:
"Nope, you get Colony. Forever. Because we fixed that." 🧙✨

Fair enough, right? Colony is peaceful, farming potatoes and dreams.
Except… the market sells:
  • Superconductors
  • Titanium
  • Military-Grade Fabrics
  • Ceramic Composites
  • Conductive Fabrics
  • Gold
  • Silver
  • Basically everything that screams INDUSTRY , REFINERY, HIGH TECH, EXTRACTION 🤯
It's like the station's shouting:
"I’m a Colony! Trust me!"
...while handing out high-tech alloys and factory gear in bulk.
Frontier apparently "fixed" economy logic so hard… it forgot how to update economies altogether.
What i have in my system:
  • Built 4 Refinery Hubs and 1 Planetary Port
  • Built 1 majestic Orbis stations above those hubs
  • Expected a glorious Refinery economy
  • Got Colony economy instead with no logic market

🔍 At this point, I turned to ChatGPT

I asked:
"Hey ChatGPT, what’s your take?"
GPT said:
"My dear CMDR, this logic makes less sense than giving a fuel rat a mining laser. Either the economy isn’t being updated properly, or the system ignores prior infrastructure unless you sacrifice a Thargoid during a new moon."
ChatGPT even gave me better logic. Better code. Simple. Logical.

I’m not saying ChatGPT should be hired by Frontier.
…but I’ve seen worse dev decisions in 3301 😶

🚨 Frontier: Right now we have...

  • Stations labeled "Colony" selling gear from an industrial and other market
  • Orbital Stations built after infrastructure completely ignoring it
  • And no explanation other than "working as intended" silence
All this is happening while our squadron (50+ players!) is actively building a galactic-scale roleplay nation, renamed via ARX, and a full infrastructure layer.
And yet... we're left guessing how anything works, watching our investments rot under a “Colony” sticker while the market screams “I AM INDUSTRIAL”.

Also, ChatGPT’s starting to think it could create Elite code more efficiently. And frankly… I’m starting to believe it too 😅

Oh they reverted everything, it's just that the way the colonization works right now, it needs a "trigger" to do the actual changes.
So your Orbis will have that influence forever, unless you trigger it (by building in its localized area).
And the first thing the trigger does is to default everything back to "colony" mode. If you can trigger again, after that, you might obtain smth. - but that doesn't work yet (with small exceptions).
Really? I hadn't heard of this (the trigger). If that's actually the case then considering all the slots are full I think my Orbis is doomed to stay the way it is forever.

This is still a Beta according to FDev. I should think - or hope? - that there'd be multiple refactoring of every single object's economies before the beta is done, and that may well render the economies correctly.

Its been 2 weeks since i built an outpost over a refinery. Order of construction was orbital outpost then refinery if that matters. The outpost is still only selling biowaste and the like. In another system i built a refinery then an outpost over a month ago. And the commodities market is greyed out. is there any updates or is frontier still figuring it out?

Wishing upon my fairy FDV Godmother...
.. please can settlements get some love and allow them to have functioning markets, docking and system wide influence
.. please can we have, when the dust has settled on colonisation, have the option to scrap or re-repurpose an outpost or station in our system(s). Many I'm sure were put up in mistake not knowing their intended purpose at the time etc. A credit towards a replacement outpost or starport of say (for example) 50% of an equivalent structure. same tier (e.g. scrapped outpost gives 50% reduction to new replacement outpost in terms of materials needed) I think would be fair and reflect recycled materials and so on.
.. please can we get some way to cash in tier 3 credits for some tier 2 or vice versa (hands up I have 7, Tier 3 points I don't think I'll ever use!)

... thank you very much and I promise to be a very good boy

I built a coriolis last week and turned it into a working Refinery economy.
There was, however, a strange phenomenon that there was a delay in the economy influence. So a new building triggered the economy update, but the new building was not included.
If you come across the same behavior, please document it in this issue: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/75021

So... building something else in the local zone of the outpost/refinery (e.g. another refinery, or a space farm) should trigger the economy update and bring the refinery online. At least from what i have observed.

So double tap. okie dokie

This happened to me when I went to war (I'm talking about Odyssey settlements). Are you talking about orbital outposts? Maybe you are in Lockdown?
