COMPLETED CG Defeat Pirates in Planetary Rings of Dhan (Bounty Hunting)

I'm looking at the top 10 threshold getting pushed into the stratosphere and wondering if any of those guys are getting burnt out by now. Increasing the tiers available has basically turned it into an endurance contest 🫡
Well, some players like hauling stuff endlessly, some people like popping pirates...that, or a leaving their turreted Type-10 AFK at a RES in solo...
 
I'm not implacably opposed to rebalancing but it would need to be done with some care to avoid breaking ships that are already sitting in hangars. I'm sure this has been discussed ad nauseam in past threads of course, but simply put: an increased power consumption for shield boosters would cripple some ships (e.g. if no power priorities are set) so they can't be flown at all. Nobody's idea of a fun game to return to your ship and find you can't fly it...
Oh yes the poor FerDeLance mains from 2014 would be deavastated that their SAME build over the last 10 years has now been broken. The FDL no longer flyable due to a 0.1mw increase on shield booster draw resulting in their 4068 shield boosters now needing a monstrous 406.8mw more power output! Oh won't anyone think of the FerDeLance mains!

But as mentioned somewhere else before... if your ship build falls apart cause you NEEEED 8136 shield boosters then you are not good, you are terrible at this game, learn to adapt, Something other than shield boosters exists.

But the shield boosters(and kill warrant scanners) were actually just a quick example of "tiny knock on an overused item and a tiny bump on an underused item"
But it really baffles me how quick people seem to jump this odd knee jerk reaction when rebalance is mentioned and shield boosters too...
And a rebalance doesn't need to be on the power consumption of a module!
Can be range, angle, so on.
A great way to nerf shield booster spam would be maybe a gimballed guardian plasma charger! Weaker than the fixed variant but of course does absolute damage to human ships, nessesitates more agile flying or the use of chaff to scramble gimballs and situational awareness to know you can't sit still and rely on 16272 shield boosters to fix your skill.
We saw a huge buff to hull tanking introduced way back with the introduction of module reinforcement packages making hull tanking very lucrative.
Though these last two things were modules that were ADDED and not existing ones rebalanced, but ADDING something is also a good way to nerf other things via existing.
Plus. This is the thread for the CG for pirate hunting and mentioned shooting pirates in icy rings. It aint threat 7 pirate bosses, it aint thargoids, it aint a high intensity warzone. It might be better to move debating on module balance to another place.
 
I'm a bit ambivalent about them extending CGs with new tiers (which FDev have been doing more and more frequently lately).

On one hand it's nice that everybody gets more time to participate, as not everybody might be available to play, or participate in the CG itself, for the first few days. It also gives more of the CG for those who enjoy it.

On the other hand, it also removes the satisfaction of having completed the CG fully. They usually add so many tiers that it becomes essentially impossible to complete them all.

Wouldn't mind as much if they at least removed the whole "If the final target is met earlier than planned, the campaign will end immediately." bit.

Or at least changed it too: "If the final target is met earlier than planned, the campaign will end immediately. Unless it's during FDevs standard hours so we can extend it manually to ward off those complaining."

I seem to remember several (mainly Rare Trading CG's) that finished on time when we were only a few hundred tonnes short of maxing out the tiers. No option was ever given to extend those.
 
Am sitting on my balcony and thinking, getting some sunshine before I go work.
I think the issue is the players are more dopeamine based brains and not adrenaline based brains.

Hence why so many have said "omg why would I want to do pirate hunting cg or equip a Kill Warrant Scanner" cause at the core they only want to see "number get bigger".
Some of the best fun I had in elite was a type 10 hull tank, with 4 large missile racks, 3 medium packounds and 2 small dumbfire launchers, only 400mj shields, and the A rated double engineered KWS and just RIPPING through pirates in a haz res like an insane beserker. I received a lot of hull damage, but I had no down time from waiting for shields to regen and the special KWS making getting 100k 200k 500k extra on each kill suddenly shooting my profit margin higher and higher.

A real blood thirsty rage for 30-60mins. Then fly back to a station for repairs and missiles, stand up for a glass of water. Then back at it.

The second people mention shield boosters and cutters I fall into a coma.

Even when I am trading I fly the ship myself, cause I like flying! Elite isn't "bigger credit number" simulator, its a space simulator! Credits is nice but I'm here for fun! And the double engineered KWS helped for the fun!

For this one, do I just hand the bounties I earn as normal to contribute?

Collect bounties in Dhan system. Go to Kidd station. Make sure you have signed up to the CG in the mission board section. Go to contacts and hand in the bounties, (do not hand your bounties to power play contact)

Edit: very short but should cover it. Also its bounties, not bonds. No idea of the individual knowlage on the game so want to add that just in case

At least this time the extension is over a four day weekend so lots of extra playing time.
Egg related chores aside that is.
 
Cash: You turn the CG mission in after it ends, or you wait 2 weeks
Other: You wait for FDev to distribute the rewards, which can be quick, or can take days

An even better change would be "if the final target is met we salute you and leave the CG still open so people can still participate and fight over the top 10 position, but additional collected items will not increase the global rewards."

The "goal ends immediately" leads to FOMO fallout coupled with a weak bandaid to try resolve the FOMO by adding more tiers... and some companies have slowly realised FOMO tactics in gaming is bad for overall profits and longivity of the game.
Fdev are at least TRYING by adding the tiers... but could do a lot better with a redesign of the system.

They could also tweak the figures to be based on the actual CG duration. EG make a 2 week CG like this one go for 500 billion as the baseline rather than the usual 250 that it’s been for a while (for bounty hunting goals).

… and they seem to have the figures where if the CG sees reasonable participation it seems to go [complete] around Monday-Tuesday without an extension, but that could be an incorrect impression/observation on my part.

Probably a stupid question but... Is there any particular faction we need to kill for? Any particular missions I need to get, or is it just a case of hang out in a haz res with cargo & wait for them to pounce?

the value "receives 75mil" is the reward you will get once the CG finishes
whilst the top %% is based on EVERYONE in game who participates.
INSUFFICIENT CONTRIBUTION means ZERO bounties were handed in.
B (top 50%) there is highlighted, meaning you will receive the global reward (the KWS and skins, when fdev hand them out some time next week (probably saturday next week)) and the credit reward of 200mil.

Faction doesn't matter, they just need to have big red "WANTED" letters by their name. (Easier to find in a HAZ Rez sight) they will give a bounty voucher that can be handed in by KIDD station.
Make sure to sign up to the CG in the missions tab at the KIDD station BEFORE you go hunting.
