COMPLETED CG Defeat Pirates in Planetary Rings of Dhan (Bounty Hunting)

Tier 1 reached: only the top 10 commanders get a rank E module.
Tier 2 reached, top 25% get it, top 10 get it as well as rank D.
Tier 3, top 50% get the rank E, 25% get E+D, top 10 get E+D+C, etc...
Maybe for the top 10, when a super high tier is reached, add an item that only ARX can buy?

That would definitely increase the motivation to actively participate.
I disagree somewhat with this idea.
Cosmetics in this system is a good idea. But modules not.
the modules should be a given, then the tier achieved determines what cosmetic bonuses we could get (after all fdev pulled a lot of them out of the shop so they should have LOTS to give out again) and on which bracket we get the cosmetics.

Some of us have work! And getting gimped on modules that might be useful for performance cause you had to work an extra shift is a lot worse than losing out on a cosmetic that you could buy using arx you bought using your bonus paycheck.

Ideally I'd prefer this module and any other interesting/novel/useful pre-engineered module to be a tech broker unlock with a high price...
Giving incentive for newer players to participate at least a tiny bit to get the module without grinding to get a hefty material price... whilst veteran players can play more determined into things to get skins that have been removed from the store for their old favorite ships.

Just any of this will be better than the UTTERLY DUMB versus CGs we had eons ago where "ooh but only the cg that wins gets an item! and the majority of players don't even know which item is which so they ended up supporting the bad one! Weeeeee!". No. Never do this again. This rips the community apart as people become disgruntled and refuse to participate in future CGs and refuse to interact with the community.

also cosmetics can be sold again.
netting income for the company.
whilst making pre-engineered modules an ARX purchase would be Pay to Win and drive away players.
And making pre-engineered modules limited time things ultimately causes severe FOMO and people just quit the game entirely to avoid the stress caused by FOMO-marketing and never buy arx again cause they are not playing the game.

I flat out refused to participate in the whole Titan bombing FOMO-fest. I only bought arx again after it was done.

I kind of get your point here.
But is there another way to motivate players to participate actively?

I ended up in the top 50% after two short bounty hunting sessions (I was actually primarily there for PvP, but ran out of opponents at some point and decided to join some commanders at the RES).
It has now been 3 days I did not participate and am still in the top 50%.

This tells me that most of the participants are just not interested to actively participate, and I do not blame them.
What's the point? Getting an extra 50 millions? You can get this easily outside of the CG already.

The rewards should be something that players are fighting for until the goal is reached. Not just participate once, get it later.

I absolutely do not wish EVER to access Youtube, FB and X for ingame notifications about a game which has it's own official Forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHY IS THIS SO?
You won't, if the same is published everywhere. Stick to the forum, while others stick to the social medias.

And judging by the last two emails about Colonization and Corsair, Working mailing list.

I'm glad that they're being conscious of the power draw issue of A-rated utility scanners by providing us with the C-rated version as well, but also... why not just rebalance the power draw to not double with every grade up from E? They're easily some of the highest-power-draw equipment in the game as a result of that weird balance choice.

There's so many things that make me ask "why not rebalance this?". It's been 10 years, I think it's okay to start tinkering with these things instead of leaving them be.

Cosmetics. Again. I am happy this cg is running 2 weeks and giving lots of people time to get in and get the items and cosmetics...
But moving said cosmetics(instead of modules) to other participation brackets makes things more lucrative.
I.E.
I really battled to try get those gold azimuth skins... before the whole titan clown show... I only got high enough to get the silver skins...

I don't know how long you've been playing this game but getting into the 50% bracket is honestly incredibly easy for A LONG TIME. With getting into the top 25% a struggle. As some people have in past signed up, did one contribution cause then they get a bit of credits at the end but also get to do something different from their current thing... a "welcome distraction"

Also at the current tier the 50% bracket get 200million o3o not 50mil. (Sorry XD)

I've contributed a bunch already (I am in 50% bracket) but today will probably go get some materials and maybe do a tad bit of "liberating" an odessy settlement of their goods... then go get my enzyme missiles unlocked.
Cause...
Ya know...
There is a lot of other things happening in elite.

Unfortunately some of the ELITE elite community have been very stubborn for years, hence for a long time lack of any new ships or new modules. The general positive reaction to SCO drives, and new ships adding flavour, scream out that a rebalance would be a welcome sight. Even if its a very minor rebalance like 2% higher energy consumption on shield boosters and -2%energy consumption on KWS.

Personally I'd love to be able to do some engineering on SHOCK cannons... they're damn good fun! With the only real drawback being somewhat limited ammo and the basic synthesis to reload then is real expensive on materials in the long run.
(But this is a discussion for a different section of the forums maybe so I might ramble on about my love for shock cannons elsewhere)

Before balancing the modules you need to balance the ships !

Before balancing the modules you need to balance the ships !
I probs should have added I mean rebalance modules and ships! Sorry. The SB and KWS was an example.
But if we wanna get going I'd vote for giving the Asp Scout 2 more small hardpoints. It would turn it into a very feisty and maneuverable combat ship comparable to the vulture!

[...]I don't know how long you've been playing this game[...]
I started playing back in 2015. And I can tell, sadly, that the CG's have not really changed since back then. Same old stuff getting recycled year after year.

I meant the EXTRA 50 millions one gets by moving to the higher bracket. Not really a substantial motivation since money is just too easy to get in this game.

[...]I've contributed a bunch already (I am in 50% bracket) but today will probably go get some materials and maybe do a tad bit of "liberating" an odessy settlement of their goods... [...]
Funny that you mention it, that is exactly what I have been doing for the last 4 days. I wish some new kind of CG's (other than shooting pirates, CZ ships, scanning moons, or hauling goods) would reward some Odyssey gear or mats...that would be useful.

That is my point. Most players are not interested in actively participating.
And again. Moving the cosmetics to the ranks and brackets would somewhat help this.
But the modules in the ranks becomes problematic.

And again overall... There is a lot in the galaxy... and some people are probably only participating in the CG cause they're sick of hauling cargo for colonisation and need a break
(tis probably why its another "combat CG this soon" is cause people are probs still blown out from the hauling and would not appreciate another hauling CG)

Alternatively... Make the modules available via Tech Broker but at a substantially high price, with the ability to receive free ones from community goals. you could go 6 hours grinding for materials but oooh! if you get in the top 50% you get 2 free KWS and in the top 25% you get 2 free KWS and 2 free Power Plants!

Or arx. give 200 arx to the top 10 commanders and 100 to the top 25% and watch people FLOOD in who don't have spare money but have time on their hands. (I think you said this earlier too... sorry if I am miss remembering, I'm not the best at language and my memory is a bit bad. I am much better at 3d modelling)

Even if its a very minor rebalance like 2% higher energy consumption on shield boosters and -2%energy consumption on KWS.
I'm not implacably opposed to rebalancing but it would need to be done with some care to avoid breaking ships that are already sitting in hangars. I'm sure this has been discussed ad nauseam in past threads of course, but simply put: an increased power consumption for shield boosters would cripple some ships (e.g. if no power priorities are set) so they can't be flown at all. Nobody's idea of a fun game to return to your ship and find you can't fly it...
give 200 arx to the top 10 commanders and 100 to the top 25% and watch people FLOOD in who don't have spare money but have time on their hands.
ARX might be a viable reward but only at much higher numbers than this, given that anyone seriously participating in a CG will already earn the weekly free 400 ARX in a tiny fraction of a week.

Yeah pretty much my thought. Would need to add a couple of 00's to make it worth while.

I'm looking at the top 10 threshold getting pushed into the stratosphere and wondering if any of those guys are getting burnt out by now. Increasing the tiers available has basically turned it into an endurance contest 🫡
