COMPLETED CG Support Winters's Forces in LP 855-34 (Mining)

[...]And if you would rather bring guns to deal with pirates and get the RES mining bonus (20km from RES marker) here is the list of RES inside of Platinum Hotspots: https://edtools.cc/list.php?s=LP 855-34&ord=25 (Note that list may be incomplete due to newly colonized system spawning RES)[...]
Well, that's the link I used to find Delkar, which looks pretty good on the list...and since the reserves are pristine (as per the in-game system map), I believed it was a good spot..?!

Although now that I look at it, the 20% is weak compared to the others...

silly question maybe, but is there any reliable way to approach the ship from the correct side of the rings to not then have to fly through them? x.x

[..]
For RES mining, you probably want a RES that is also in a High Yield Hotspot, it looks like the closest to the Mining CG system is HIP 52780, Planet 5, Ring A which is 107LY away, and a bit farther at 131LY you have Paesia, Planet 2, Ring A.
May I ask what all these numbers mean?

Is the first percentage the coverage of the RES into the Hotspot, and the second is the yield of the HS?

Which is the best, and why? HIP 52780 vs Macua?

I would like to know too...twice happened to me...was expecting the Kumo crew hiding behind the rocks...

Ha! Found it!
RTFM ;)

Hey, did somebody confirm that the mined platinum, transferred to from ship to FC, then from FC to ship and sold at the station counts towards the CG?

The @xx% is how far from the center of the hotspot the RES is located, so 0% would be directly on the center (good) and say 95% would be on the edge of the hotspot (bad)
The second number usually between 10% and 25% is the average % plat content of the asteroids.

I mostly listed HIP 52780 because it's the closest one to the CG system that has a RES and also is in the list of known high Yield hotspots (aka the top ~25 systems we know about), but technically if you're willing to go further from the CG system (like if you are gonna store in the carrier anyways) then Macua will probably have a better Platinum Yield.

FYI, those Platinum Yields (average Platinum % content) is coming from The Platinum Hotspot Survey.

I can confirm that it does count (using the transfer option), I just unloaded 2800t from the FC and ended up in the top 10 Cmdr for the CG contribution (for now anyways).
it probably doesn't contribute to the CG (count as "mined") if the Plat was sold to the carrier or bought from the carrier, but you're still getting the 444k/t price so might as well empty the carrier anyways..

I actually read that a location of 70-85% does not seem to make a difference. But I trust your experience and will prioritize lower number.

But how comes a pt yield 15% (Delkar) makes such a difference vs the other systems 20%? 5% does not seem like much to me...

Great, I can finally put my FC to some use!
I already scheduled the jump to Macua during the day...now if the power could come back (there was a big storm here) to let me play, that would be nice :)

It would be complicated to explain with numbers/math, but when I survey a new system/ring, I can usually tell before analyzing the journal file if it's gonna be a 15% system or a 20%+ just by the time it takes me to fill my cargo, and how many limpets I have to jettison or if it's really bad, running out of limpets before I fill the cargo...

Since most won't bother mining a rock under say 20% Plat content, in a 15% average system you will end up mining about 3 rocks out of every 10 prospected, but in a 22% average system you would mine about 4 to 4.5 rocks out of every 10 prospected, that makes a difference if you assume that you need to mine say 45 rocks to fill your cargo (number picked to make the math easy) then in the good hotspot you might need to prospect 100 rocks to find the 45 to mine, but in the bad hotspot to find those 45 rocks you'd have to prospect 150 rocks which takes much longer...

(not a scientific explanation, but I hope it illustrates the point)

Very good explanation, makes sense. THANKS!

Really not sure what the issue is with Delkar. It's been taking me about an hour to fill up the Cutter. Plenty 0f 40%+ yield asteroids. I will mine the lower 20-35%ones as I get low on limpets and am just looking to fully top up the cargo racks and all ten bins on the refinery but no reason to do so other wise

Who knows, maybe I had bad luck or bad RNG.
I'm now parked at Macua. The HAZ RES + HS at planet 2A is very juicy there :)

Nice, after many tries, I managed to park my FC right next to the Haz RES + HS at Macua 2a.
The view from there is nice too :)))

BTW, I believe the hardcore miners out there are still stocking up their FC's, far from the system (I am myself doing that a bit...though I am not hardcore miner), and will unload much later.
We can't to get a real idea of what the numbers will be in the end, and we may have to wait to get closer to the end of the CG.

About that, any chance for the system to go into lockdown?

Not sure what factions own the Rhea's and the Undeniable, and how their security sliders look like at the moment?
Would suck to mine remotely, then be unable to unload the FC... :-/

Although I would not mind going on a bounty hunting spree, like for the last sabotaged exploration CG, to help raising up the slider :)
