New ships: 2025

I want...nay demand:

A Guardian vessel that benefits from guardian modules being used in it

A Thargoid hybrid that (shock!) leverages Thargoid components

An Asp Avenger based on the Scout that is the ultimate fighter and bestest ship

An SLF 'pack' based on Elite 84 shapes / ships

SLFs with class one drives so they can be space scooters

I bet it will be a medium Saud Kruger passenger ship. Hopefully we'll also get new meaningful VIP passenger missions (perhaps as part of PP2).

The Moray Starboat originally had underwater/submarine abilities. :)

Yep! We probably won't have that kind of environment any time soon, but if/when we do, it and all existing Saud Kruger ships would make sense for traversing it.

Good idea charting it like that!

I think we can cross off Small Trade, as it wouldn't bring anything to the table without more 'small pad only' installations and perhaps something like a rework of rare trading.

Small Combat I could see up to two ships. Small Exploration is possible – my Moray is sort of that, but not entirely. A ship that's too focused on being just a small explorer might overlap the DBX too much.

Large Exploration would be good. The Mandalay is a bit of a Han Solo ship and explorer Anacondas have this retrofitted utilitarian vibe. A premium 'five year mission' expedition ship could be a really nice complement. And I think there's definitely some room in Large Combat/Multi-Role, yep.

It should wait for a bit but I also think there's still space in Medium. A dedicated medium size mining ship could be great, and I'd be interested in a competent multi-role (non-explorer) pirate ship in the 'small Medium' Asp Explorer type size.

Why didn't Corsair take those seats?

I use a Corsair for mining, but a dedicated mining rig is something we haven't really seen yet. It'd have, in my book:

1. A strong distributor but limited hardpoint selection that's not as viable as the Corsair for combat.
2. Optional internals really optimised for a mining loadout. Higher cargo capacity than the Corsair but lower than the Type-8, but particularly able to fit a bit more than 192t in a mining loadout.
3. An industrial look.
4. A cargo hatch right at the front of the ship for optimised collection. Fun idea here is an offset frontal cockpit and the cargo hatch just to the side, so you could see the collectors returning.
5. Engine stat priority is 1) lateral/vertical thrust, then 2) acceleration, then 3) top cruise speed, at the cost of pitch/yaw/roll and boost.

As to the second, the Corsair doesn't compete with a multi-role Asp Explorer, it competes with a multi-role Python or Krait. I'm more imagining a Class 5 PP/Distributor ship, and it being the Constrictor.

Well I'm a miner now on T8 (lately noticed that my patience is only enough to fill 100-150 tons) and that's half of what you described.

As for the multi-purpose pirate I don't agree at all, Corsair (even the name) is the way to go.
