Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Funniest drama reaction to date...

This is what happens if 'toxic backers' chase out the original marketting manager... the company ends up hiring an ex-Activision 'Monetisation Manager'... and we get crap like this.

(They're completely in earnest. Reckon Sandi would call them a precious snowflake ;))

Runner up points for this 'monetization improves testing' take ;)

Putting it behind a paywall makes testing new tech easier. Put it in game for purchase and we’ll see servers crashing left and right because someone found an exploit with bomb racks

It's quite funny that people are saying that Flight Blades are a sign CiG are desperate for $$$. I'd say a better sign of that is monthly new ships this year (and far more than that this month).

I do wonder if the point of the Flight Blades was mainly to annoy the community to get wider coverage of the Idris / Invictus free fly in the wider game press. Need new $$$

It's interesting that this new monetisation trickery is getting reported outside of the usual bubble of creators that can be bothered to talk about SC. But I'm expecting Roberts (or one of his lackeys) to come out with a reassuring "hey, guys, chill out, they'll be available to acquire in-game eventually, this is just for the real ones" post, and then all the angry whales will go back to suckling contentedly at Chris' bountiful teat.

Nobody should be surprised they do this. And nobody should be surprised when it earns them Chrisloads of money.

CI's business model is to climb up the ladder of monetization audacity.

I think this is the biggest counter to the whole "but its a tradeoff, you get more X in return for less Y".

If that was the actual feeling out there, then there is no way they would have sold like hotcakes.

2.7 million taken in today.

Clearly a lot of people don't like it, clearly a lot of people will still splurge.
