New ship: Panther Clipper

Hi All :)

We'll need a Crystal ball for this....(joking).

Current prices.
Corsair...Stellar 33,000 ARX.
Corsair...Standard 16,520 ARX.

Panther Clipper Stellar 00,000 ARX ?
Panther Clipper Standard 00,000 ARX ?

Please change the figures into the expected price in ARX that players think they'll be on release! ;)
And keep that crystal ball out for a moment and speculate the price of Panther paint jobs as well!

Paint jobs currently standing at an average of 6000 ARX or 10000 ARX for 'specials'.

Jack :)

I swear, if they pull a Nintendo on it, I will be disappointed.

Panther Clipper Stellar Edition: 33,000 ARX
Panther Clipper Stock Edition: 16,000 ARX
That is what it will most likely be.

However, we can expect to have the following happen:
Panther Clipper Stellar Edition: 45,000 ARX
Panther Clipper Stock Edition: 20,000 ARX
This would be pulling a Nintendo on it, and frankly, it will damage Player Trust in the Company.
Now, as for Cosmetics, if they want to make a 25,000 ARX Paint Job, they are welcome to do so, as that's a Cosmetic Item.

An (Un)Expected Curveball:
This might be one of the first Ships to get Three Dedicated Versions on Release Day:
Panther Clipper Ultra-Stellar Edition: 50,000 ARX
Panther Clipper Stellar Edition: 33,000 ARX
Panther Clipper Stock Edition: 16,000 ARX
The Type-9 Trading Jumpstart may get a Price Reduction to keep it relevant so that Small-Wallet Users can buy it.
I'd be very happy if they did that, even though I already own one myself.
If they made the Type-9 Trading Jumpstart Edition 10,000 ARX upon the release of the Panther Clipper, it would be good marketing.
They would be demonstrating that they don't want to take a dump on the little guy.

So, what would an Ultra-Stellar Ship even look like:
We could expect that they would come up with some sort of Fancy Paint, and other Cosmetic Options.
We could also expect that an Ultra-Stellar Edition of the Ship would have a longer Jump Range, or otherwise be more heavily Optimised.
The Stellar Edition would therefore be likely to lack a Class 5 Guardian FSD Booster, being limited to only having a Class 4 Guardian FSD Booster instead.
Other than that, there may be a Retro Skin released for the Panther Clipper, given her Reputation from previous Games.
If they did that, many of us Fossils would be very happy about that.

So, what does the Future of the Panther Clipper look like, and what do you think the chances are that they'll pull a Nintendo on us?

(Seriously)...I would presume the price for the Stellar and Standard editions would be the same as the Corsair's...any deviation from that this year upward of those current prices will probably create a massive tsunami of salt!...(I should think). :)
Another thing to consider is...will Frontier apply for example a yearly increase in overall prices to cover the cost of inflation, and if they do consider it when exactly within that year should the increases be applied.
I personally think a small increase yearly seems acceptable (all round), but having that increase tied in this year with the release of the Panther would not be a shrewd move. Better to really do that when all the new ships have been released this year, then some weeks / months later apply the overall increases.

It wouldn't bother me either way as it's not critical to me personally, I have choices, but a deviation (unless it's below current prices, which I can't see happening unless we're talking of or including periodic 'Sales') that coincides with the Panthers release, as I've said, wouldn't go down well with some players, as the reasons are pretty obvious! ☺️

Edit...forgot to add...An Ultra Stellar Panther at 50,000 ARX ?...Now that's a thought...🤔...it might have some possibilities there.:sneaky:...(y)

Jack :)

I can just imagine if they did that, it wouldn't be any normal Tsunami, it would be ushima level Tsunami.
The amount of people who would go full on Chernobyl on them would be insane.

As for a 50,000 ARX Ultra-Stellar, I would support this, in the Event that there was:
- The Standard Edition - 15,000/16,000 ARX
AND
- The Stellar Edition - 33,000 ARX
Providing people with options, equal to their Budgets.
Many people have already purchased the ARX to do it, myself included.
They are expecting a 33,000 ARX Price Tag, so will be annoyed if it goes above that.
Equally, there are those (again, like myself), who have prepared for the Price to be higher, but would expect a lot of bang for their buck.
Personally, I expect it to have 2,048 Tons of Cargo Space, and would not be very happy if it was loads below that figure.
If it releases at only 1,024 Tons, and they still want 50,000 ARX for it, I will literally tell them where to shove it.

If it releases at 2,048 Tons of Cargo Space, with a Shield, Class 5 Guardian FSD Booster, and all the other Trimmings like an Advanced Docking Computer and a Supercruise Assist Module out-of-the-box, then 50,000 ARX would be an easier thing to swallow. That said, by doing that, and taking it that far, it would no doubt cause a lot of Imbalance for about 3 Months until it was released for Credits for normal Players to buy.

What I expect they will do, and this is mostly for balancing reasons, is that they will likely only give it 1,536 Tons of Cargo Capacity with a Shield.
I want it to be 2,048 Tons of Cargo Space personally, and if they allow that to happen, even at the expense of a Shield, then I will be OK with that.
Frankly, for Colonisation, we need the 2,048 Tons of Cargo Capacity, it's that simple.

Fdevs, make it 2K and just name any price.

Don't tempt them, we don't want to be paying 50,000 ARX if we can help it.

I hope the Panther Clipper MK 2's cargo capacity is around the 2100 Tonne , or similar to the original ship in FE2. From a game point of view it sure would be nice to batter this grind into something less tortuous, and from a sales pitch point of view anything less than a cutter and a cutter and a half cutter is a waste of time from a hauling point of view. I'd imagine huge disappointment if this isn't a mega hauler tho and if the number of cargo it can haul isn't 2100T like the mk1, then go higher not lower fdev - HIGHER
Payload =/= cargo capacity.

In a different game. Where we didn't build the systems.

Now, here, we need a true breakthrough in haul capacity, and PC is able to provide.
A different game that people keep directly referencing when talking about the cargo capacity of the Mk2. I'm not saying it can't have a large capacity, I'm saying people should probably manage their expectations a bit and stop pointing at the 2100t figure to say "look they did it there so they should do it here", especially when it is a misinterpretation of what the figure actually meant.

The ship in FE2 could only hold 2100 tonnes if it wasn’t fitted with any sorts of engines or weapons. Those all used part of that capacity.
The best way to give a similar but higher capacity would be to make it hold 2560 tonnes in the five optional size 9 slots that are its only optional slots.

I agree, entirely...

But a scummy 2K isn't going to make me even remember where my wallet is - if we are going BIG, then BIG it must be!
Allegedly the dimensions could hold 100K+, so having 6K isn't a big ask, is it now?
Not sure if being sarcastic!... however other than making any other large pad trade ship in the game utterly redundant then no.... not at all!.

it would also be the absolute nailed on definition of P2W for any trade CGs which may be in the game whilst the ship is locked in the cash shop.

Anything that costs money appears to be considered P2W, apparently, so good or poor some will scream about P2W regardless, it is the way, after all!

edit deleted.. missed your 1st post

that said i aint buying it regardless of how good it is............... but will 100% be getting it once in game.

all my ARX goes on naming my establishments on "my" colony

Facetious... ;)

ETA: But my wallet still won't open if the capacity isn't actually worthwhile. (and 1500-2K is not, in my opinion)
From where I'm standing 1.5-2k is a huge increase in what we have.
I'd be chuffed with 1k.
In fact I'd be happy with something that flies better than the cutter/t-9 and has a similar capacity.

I bought a new Yonex Vcore tennis racket yesterday...that's def pay to win :D.

Wouldn’t it be funny if they released a “ruggedness” ultra ARX only edition that had 2 extra Utility slots and two extra class 5 military slots and 10 extra hull hardness.

TBH, I just want a ship that can land on a 9G planet fully loaded (The Type 9) to actually have 9G of acceleration fully loaded.

Ships that articulate etc should have some benefits.

Ships should have a maximum landing Gs vs weight profile with ships like the keelback and the Mandalay with their flippy boaters boosters having better gravity well handling
