Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Well. Someone's got to find the 4(?) locations first and log them on Verseguide with their loot pools and directions from the nearest quantum marker. Is that not exploration? :)
There is a recurring dream that "exploration" would include the ability to sell waypoint coordinates to other players in game or something vague like that.

Fly as close as possible to marker Hela's Regret
Point compass heading to 312.2°
Travel at 2.00 km altitude for 31:59 minutes at 250 m/s
You will not be traveling in a straight line! Keep steering to maintain a consistent heading
Stop when distance to Hela's Regret is 474.62 km at 2.00 km altitude
Your destination should be right below you Fly down to the surface
Your destination should be right below you Hela's Regret should be 474.44 km away at heading 135.4°

That's the problem with this sort of "exploration" content in an online community. As soon as one person finds something then everyone knows where it is. Same with things like Jameson crash site in ED or the guardian ruins or whatnot. In ED, finding these things the first time is like finding a needle in planet sized haystack, in SC, everything is so small, relatively speaking, its barely a challenge even for the first person to find it.

This sort of exploration content would have worked well before the advent of the internet... nowadays, exploration has to be different.

"the more of the facility guards you relieve of the ability to go home and say good night to their children, [the more fun you'll have]"

Do they have a competition on who gets to rile up the crowd the most?

Is it too crazy to get the impression that they're trying to knock off the romantic old backers, the "lazy cowards" with children, and their dreams of this hyper-realistic universe thing that's not going to happen? The more of them turn away and sell their accounts, the fewer the chances to get sued when 1.0 rolls out and there's nowhere to go in the Carrack or their Endeavour.jpg.

I mean, Jared should know what he edits together.

Lol, the worm spawn closets are so busted...

It started a few days back. When this patch dropped...

"Infinite spawns" is one way of removing randomness, I guess.
It sounds as if another system needs a complete rewrite:
Spawn Closets are actually 3 different entities. An area box of the proper size; which you link to a spawn closet, which then needs a spawn closet manager. They all have their own baffling settings. Devs just try all extremes to see differences and are never really sure if they see anything different. But then the most important settings are not in the editor, but in dataforge, the XML editor which controls all entities. There you you set tags to find the closets and then tags for AI that fit your needs. You also specify the numbers there. But it's also not very clear or functional. You have max spawns, max concurrent spawns, max spawns per minute and and a whole lot more, but it doesn't seem to work well. Because clearly nobody set it to infinite and yet that always happens...

He forgot a group though. In the same way he describes that there is a group of haters that are not players, there is probably also a group of whales that are not players: Pure grey market ccu min/maxer speculators and potential money launderers.

CIG´s monetization and related grey market strongly enables this type of non player whales. And given the size of alleged CIG revenues these non players whales probably drive a significant portion of those sales. Also, given the high money stakes, there will probably be a huge amount of whales opinions and posts out there that will actually simply be misinformation and gaslighting as they have a vested interested in maximizing real money profits.

Haters on the other hand do not have this real money motivation. Haters´ opinions (players or not) have therefore a much higher chance to be more genuine than whales´, or "heavily invested" related posts.

Ok I know I harp on about the audio churn a lot, but in the last 12 months they've lost:

TitleRoleTenure (months)Notes
DirectorAudio20[previous incumbent left in 2022, replacement still being selected]
Senior LeadDialogue Designer114
LeadSound Designer4
LeadNarrative Designer11SQ42
LeadMusic Designer19SQ42
SeniorSound Designer40
IIISound Designer12Both projects.
IITech Sound Designer33Both projects.
Sound Designer24
IIIDialogue Designer30
IIIDialogue Designer14Both projects.

If you take out the one long-termer you get:
Tenure average: 1 year 9 months

Something def ain't right in those departments. (All UK).

Three more Dialogue Designers have slipped away since April (avg tenure 2.5 yrs). The latest seemingly of his own volition, going by his leaving post & replies. Mainly SQ42-focused.

(CIG currently just have a role open for a Snr Dialogue Designer. They finally filled the Audio Director slot again in March. We'll see how long he lasts ;))

Still feeling very churny to me...

But hey maybe it's all going well ;). Leaver-guy hits that note:

Although I liked this line too ;)

There are plenty of moments that will stick with me — not least the endless PCAP shoots of 2023,

(PS of the people he hat-tips, 6 have left, 5 are still there, including the new Director).

Leaving out of his own volition without a next job lined up?
