Okay so animals look amazing as predicted, there is a singular plant that’s useful (to me at least) which is the bare Chinese lanterns, the rest of the pieces are pretty much unusable, and the update is just the butterfly.
After watching Leaf's video, here are my thoughts:
• the raccoon dog doesn't look nearly as bad as it did in the reveal Image. The mod is still leagues better in my opinion but the actual animal in game looks fine.
• the elephant looks amazing, and so do all the other animals
• we actually did get the "evil and intimidating Nilgai" sign, which is funny
• ...ANOTHER festive scenery set...? That can't be the only thing Asia has to offer. Also, it's our third festive set in a row. It's really a shame that exhibits were basically abandoned in favour of this... At least the banana leaves are cool, and some of the new panels are great.
• the butterfly is a good addition, but really that's the only thing in the update, which is a shame

There is a problem with the distribution of the Japanese raccoon dog. It is not distributed in China, Russia, South Korea, or North Korea.
In addition, they are not found in Mongolia either.

Strangely enough, the "regions" section on the right only mentions Japan
I'm convinced somebody will notice this soon after launch, so to avoid this being a big deal in the launch thread tomorrow, we might as well take it here today instead.
The illustrated range map for the Japanese Raccoon Dog seems to have been mixed with that of the Common Raccoon Dog. Under regions it only says Japan, so here it seems to be correct.
I would have sent the team an email earlier so they could get a chance to look at it, but I forgot. Now you know at least

It's him... The evil and intimidating Nilgai
He is adorable
So after seeing the animals in-game (through the YouTube vids. I dont have the pack yet) here are my thoughts:
- Blackbuck just looks cool. I can't begin to describe how awesome their coat looks. The jet-black on top, the white on the bottom. I can't wait to use them
- The nilgai is something I initially wasn't interested in, but it looks so weird that I gotta. And the melanistic coat in particular is amazing. As Leaf said: cookies and cream. Now I want Bluebell ice cream
- The macaque is... oof, how should I put this... AMAZING! (gotcha, didn't I?) Yo, that thing is awesome sauce smothered over cool beans. They look so good, the true PlanZo lion
- The honey badger is very nice, the trot is adorable. I never knew they had melanistic or leucistic (albino?) variants. Very cool
- The tanuki is everything I wanted. Fluffy, iconic, and a climbing canid (gray fox, you will come to me one day)
- Borneo elephant looks real good, better than the Indian. The gray also contrast nicely against the pink-tan of the Indian. It has a few better details than the Indian elephant, and I'm tempted to use them in my next build
- Pere David's deer looks very nice. The antlers are quite beautiful and it's cool to have a semi-aquatic deer other than the moose
- Malabar rose butterfly is nice. Not much to say but it adds some variety to our butterfly houses and I think that's it's nice players without DLCs can use the WTE
Same, but the bamboo pieces are nice
What binomial did they assign to the raccoon dog? Can't watch videos at the moment but I wonder if that might be related to the map gaffe.
Nyctereutes viverrinus, which is the japanese species
I gotta say that all the animals looks fantastic so far, quality is certainlly high here compared to Americas.

Okay, I am Sorry, this Nilgai female look STUNNING!!! This Pack may be my favorite of all time, maybe. I really laughed when I saw the Nilgai Sign, haha. Kinda weird interspecies Enrichment's. Blackbuck not having with the Indian elephant is sad, since they are sharing habitats in some zoos, so why not. Kinda funny is the Enrichment between the Deer and the takin. How should that work? A mounatish Habitat that is also a swamp thing? IDK, does not sound right for me.
Overall this Pack is a 10/10 for me, even the elephant looks incredible, although not needed.

That's so odd. I was expecting it to be the outdated Nyctereutes procyonoides viverrinus with the range they used.
In real zoos, this kind of mixed breeding is quite dangerous. Male takins are not easy to deal with, especially during the mating season.
In fact, it is not uncommon to raise PD deer and greater one-horned rhinoceros together, and the environment they require is also similar.
I find it ugly and out of place compared to the other signs. Should have added the "for me", cuz it's nothing deep.
