Planet Zoo: Asia Animal Pack | Available Now!

About bug fixes, Frontier, there's one that's super annoying and it's that guests won't use picnic tables anymore.
I'm gonna have to open a ticket, and if anybody else has that problem please vote on it or whatever (I've never opened an issue ticket before).
I'm gonna do 1 last check by verifying the files, but if not, then imma open a ticket.
Otherwise, making food courts is gonna be pretty useless. I noticed it aroind the time the Americas pack was released, but since I didn't play much I didn't think of it

I've already purchased this fantastic DLC!!
The animals are incredible!
There are LED pieces for making signs that can be quite useful, but not so much the glow-in-the-dark flower pieces. 🥳🤩

However, I'm very disappointed not to get the coveted Indian set in Flexicolor.
It's something I've wanted for a long time due to its great applications and flexibility in our builds. ☹️

It's great that the community is alive and well again, but the only downside is that the distribution of Japanese raccoon dogs needs to be corrected, which is an obvious problem.

Updated Greater Rhea habitat sign to reflect the correct conservation status, Planco and scientific names.

I can't be the only one who felt like this while reading the patch notes

Unfortunately, the updated sign shows again the wrong biome icons despite that being corrected in a previous update.

Apart from that, thanks for the new dlc and update! Already bought even if I won't be able to play in a few weeks.

frontier need to fix the Japanese raccoon dog map problem ASAP.
I don't know which parallel universe the people who made this map came from.
At least in our universe, Japan is not that big.
You can't keep making this kind of serious mistake that offends players from other countries.

I can't wait, I am so pumped to try out these animals, the lack of hyrax so far disturbs me, but everything else us great

Honestly the elephant giving us. A new sign for the elephant is nice, especially one that focuses more on the Asian elephant then the african one. Besides this I don't really feel much towards the Bornean Pygmy Elephant.

The others though, I am so excited to final have the black buck and nilgai for India mixed habitats. The Père David’s Deer is great for conservation and looks, though I wish the Antlers looked little more branch like.

The Badger and Tanuki are pretty good, bit then we got the star of the show, the Lion-Tailed Macaque, such a useful, unique, and cool animal, still would've prefered a Langur but oh well I am happy ether way.

Frontier often bases their maps on the IUCN, and the IUCN still has the raccoon dogs lumped as the same species, so I can see where the confusion came from. Hopefully it'll be fixed in the next patch.

EDIT: Here's the IUCN map for raccoon dogs, exactly matches the one in the Zoopedia

Regarding the Japanese raccoon dog, I think this is somewhat similar to the issue with the takin, that is, you cannot be vague in the key places. For example: if you make a subspecies, then follow the subspecies, if you make a species, follow the species. You can't give us a subspecies, but in some places, it becomes a species.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It is something that we are aware of and will be resolved in an upcoming update. Appreciate your patience.

Congratulations on the release of the Asia Animal Pack!
I immediately watched the new animals together with Japanese fans via livestream, and they were all absolutely wonderful!
However, there are a few issues I’d like to point out.

1. Distribution of the Japanese Raccoon Dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides viverrinus)
When I first saw the distribution map, I thought, “Maybe they intentionally showed the full raccoon dog range, regardless of subspecies, to raise awareness of invasive species issues.”
However, as many others have pointed out, if the species implemented is the Japanese raccoon dog, the distribution should be limited to Japan.
Including China and the Korean Peninsula, despite clearly labeling it as “Japanese,” is disrespectful to people from those regions.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It is something that we are aware of and will be resolved in an upcoming update. Appreciate your patience.

I’m very glad to hear that this will be addressed in a future update!

That said, it's a bit complicated—some scholars argue that raccoon dogs from the Asian continent and those from Japan should be treated as separate species.
Furthermore, Japanese raccoon dogs can be divided into two subspecies: the Honshu raccoon dog, which ranges from Honshu to Kyushu (the one featured in the pack), and the Ezo raccoon dog, which is native to Hokkaido.
If only the Honshu raccoon dog is represented, the distribution should be limited to Honshu through Kyushu (excluding Okinawa). If the Ezo raccoon dog is included as well, then Hokkaido should also be marked—in either case, only Japan should be highlighted in pink.

2. Misinformation about raccoon dogs on the official website
On the DLC announcement page of the official website, there is a serious factual error regarding raccoon dogs. The page states:
“Japanese Raccoon Dogs are also the only canid known to hibernate.”
But in fact—raccoon dogs do not hibernate!
They do spend longer periods resting in dens during winter, but they do not enter true hibernation like bears do—they wake and move around.
Please correct this before the misinformation spreads.

3. Japanese name for the Borneo pygmy elephant
I mentioned this before the release, but very few Japanese people refer to the “Borneo pygmy elephant” as 「ピグミーゾウ」 (“pygmy elephant”) or 「コビトゾウ」 (“dwarf elephant”).
Most people simply call it 「ボルネオゾウ」 (“Borneo elephant”).
I understand that translating animal names can be quite tricky.
Still, I hope it can be corrected in a future update for a more academically accurate presentation.

Side note:
I haven’t seen the raccoon dogs climb trees yet.
While it’s true that they don’t climb very often, the current frequency might be a bit too low.
Also, I have some thoughts about raccoon dog latrines and other aspects, but if I start down that path, I’ll never stop—so I’ll leave it here.

In any case, congratulations once again on the release!
I’m sorry to trouble you with this feedback during what must be a very busy time, but please know I’ll continue to support your work!
