Mamba buffs?

people keep whining about how it wold ruin everything with cursed change.
On a forum where many posters think that the Panther Clipper should barely hold more than a Cutter / Type 9, rather than actually be usefully large because of 'balance'...
Yep, change or fun is not approved of.

I've never understood the self-defeating precept that nothing should be substantially better than anything else, because then everyone would have to have it....

This is kinda off topic many people would love it if car manufacters sold earlier bodies but upgraded what was under the hood.
Classic cars have the coolest and best designs with a lot of personality.
For sure we would. My (bad) try at comparing it was intended into another direction, though. And to stress it again: Nothing holds us back to slap an SCO into an Asp Explorer or an Anaconda. They are pretty neat with it.

There is an abyss of distance between 'barely more than a cutter/Type 9' and '2000/more than double'. Change and fun is approved of. In fact, I would be comfortable dropping one of the Cutter's size 8s to a 7 IF they get access to the 1.5x cargomax modules.

Mathing, a Type 9 could go to 1110, and a Cutter could go to 1050 (or 858 if you drop one 8 to 7). Cargo still goes up for everyone, but now you have to decide about what shield you throw on the Cutter if you do multi-role.

Bonus of the Type-8 also potrntially getting a cargo boost, with the size 7.

A behometh of a ship that is substantially more than double the volume of our biggest ships (allegedly) ends up with an empty volume of 1200+ is a little odd, but, as I pointed out earlier, most folk here are pleased, it is just other social media, and their own stream, where players are not best impressed by their decision.

I'm sure the ship will sell for Arx reasonably successfully, so FD won't feel inspired to offer better in the future. IMO the previous ships were mould breaking enough to purchase Stellar versions on release. But I shouldn't complain, this, on release, saves me real money.

I actually think the problem is that the new ships since the python 2 are all a little bit too good. I support a mamba speed buff, it's lost its identity with the Cobra V and Corsair being so fast, it has those massive thighs, it should be the fastest accelerating ship in the fleet.

Volume has no relationship to cargo capacity in this game, except for the smallest of ships. For example, the Clipper's (the smallest large pad ship, volumetrically) model has a volume of nearly 47k cubic meters...if only ten percent of that was suitable for cargo racks that would still be upwards of two-thousand canisters, with plenty of margin to spare for cargo handling.

But then, no space for the luxury swimming pool, jaccuzi, lounge, bar, sushi bar, fitness center, etc...
Until they are done with this one, didn't you know that the Imperial Clipper is the very reason ship interiors are still work in progress at FDev offices?

Yes indeed IClipper must have a basketball court inside, that's the explanation why a much smaller ship like the Corsair can carry 80 tons more than it

My Bitdefender went nuts when I visited this forum page (this one you are looking at now), lots of suspicious connections from your domain. Naturally I don't believe you are doing anything malicious, you maybe got an expired certificate or two on your webserver? Something maybe being triggered by that broken link in your sig...

is this chrome doing weird precaching stuff from the signature? I don't see any links in the page source to that domain with signatures turned off. That domain's certificate is indeed invalid, though.

I think it's just trying to load the signature, though the signature link is to facebook, I don't really know what chrome or bitdefender thinks is going on, I too cannot find a refernce to the actual domain on the page source, it's odd, but probably no coincidence that the link is broken and BD thinks there's a cert mismatch.

I'm on Brave browser with Ublock and his signature is getting blocked automatically.

Back on topic. I am interested if the next ship after the Panther is a combat oriented one and if that also makes several other ships obsolete.

[Sorry off topic, yes my pic and signature linked to my web page, which does not have a cerificate installed, sorry for that, it is harmless though fyi]

Back on topic Mamba still frightens me

I fought one yesterday.
He was pretty much constantly reverskying (i.e.: FAoff + flying backward), making it very long for my frag Python 2 to catch up.
In the meantime, his 3 (!) wingmen were hammering me.
Needless to say, I lost.
So yeah, the Mamba has its top speed as an advantage...

Been advocating for them, people keep whining about how it wold ruin everything with cursed change.
How do you do that? What I generally see from the ones that are the loudest about buffs are suggestions that would just turn all the ships the same. The character of something is not just in its streangth, but also in its weaknesses. This is also a game where more powerfull definitely doesn't mean more fun. So unless the buffs are made with thought, attention, and care for each and every ship, I rather they don't touch them at all.
