DLC20 Discussion (maybe, but why not?)

You know what would be epic, and probably easy to do?
A whole set of the "regular" rocks, but instead of being a set colour/biome they're flexicolour.
The flexicolour rocks we have are too smooth to really work with the real rocks
Yeah, might be a hot take but the faux rocks kinda overstayed their welcome for me and i rarely use them nowadays. They idk, look to fake? Mainly speaking about the big ones here, the small pebbles i still use all the time.
But yeah id love a flexicolor version of the base game rocks, and quite frankly to this day i cant wrap my head aorund why they didnt do it when we got the vulcanic set back at oceania. The texture on those looks so good but they are forever cursed to be pretty much unusable because they only come in black

Imma be super honest: the more I think about it, the more that this CAN'T be the last pack.

Look, Frontier has, over the years, proven time and time again that they're aware of what the players want. Omitting aviaries and aquariums, they've gotten almost all of our requests, such as more monkeys, the top canids (apart from the Canis group and dholes), bringing up several underrepresented continents, and even several requested animals thay we thought were lost but ended up being squeezed somewhere else.

Now, why is it that we've had 2 packs where there were super key animals thay would've been very easy to implement yet they weren't added? There's no way Frontier doesn't know we haven't asked for the American black bear or coati and there's no way they don't know we don't want more fowl.
I bet that they still have some things in store for us, I truly think they do. I dunno how much further the devs will go, but at most I still see 2 more DLCs to be released and another anniversary. I feel like we aren't done yet
Totally agreed.
In my opinion, many people here are quite hasty about the game's endgame. Even with the forecast for Planet Zoo 2 coming next year, and with the uncertain Planet Coaster 2 DLC, plus the release of Jurassic World Evolution (with the possibility that it might not sell), it makes me think we still have room for more Planet Zoo DLC. I prefer to be optimistic. And since the Asia Animal Pack just launched, it's still too early to say if another one will come (we'll see what they say between now and August).

but south america also has a animal pack
No, it has not. As @Fabian already stated, the South America Pack is a scenery pack. We got additional South American animals here and there (wetlands, tropical, zookeepers, americas), but that was it.

North America got an North American Animal Pack, a good portion of the Twilight Pack, a good portion of the Arctic Pack, their share of the Americas Pack and technically even an animal in the Eurasia pack.

Don't get me wrong, I love North American animals and would not want miss any of them in game. However, the ratio compared to South America seems really unbalanced and the Americas Pack just added to that and emphasized it.

Just wanted to say; five of the animals in the Americas pack can be attributed to South America, while only one animal in the Americas pack is exclusive to North America... the pack is more South/Central America than anything else...

The point is that South America should have gotten pack either completely dedicated to endemic animals or other animals that are also present in South America.

It would be fair either way, but giving how much South America is behind in roster (compared to irl biodiversity) it was necessary.

Instead we got two animals completely outside of SA continent and third that barely grazes the coast.

You can see by the wishlists, that when people mentioned Latin America ot South/Central combo America packs, that they didn't really mean any animals that are found in Central America (like Coyote and Bighorn or potentially Black Bear and White Tailed Deer), but rather jungle or tropical animals that go hand in hand with other SA fauna (monkeys, agoutis, anteaters...) or extend into South America itself

Even then, in the Americas Pack, South American fauna dominates more, with 5 of the 7 animals coming from that part of the continent

And that's real nice and all... but looking at precedence, the closest you could ever hope to come to such a pack was what we got; an Americas Pack. Top it off with the general quality of choices we've been seeing lately, what we got was probably about as good as anything we could hope for... so to all you people screaming "it should have been Central America/South America 2/Coati+Howler Monkey+New Rig This+New Rig That+Whatever"... it's doubtful such a thing was ever likely to begin with...

I mean yeah, right now that is the case, I'm saying it shouldn't have been like that. If they needed clones to pad out the roster, South America and tropical Central America have them too.

This isn't really about rigs, as much is it about representation.

I'm not saying we should've gotten pack full of new rigs, I know better than that.

I'm saying that Lowland Tapir was much better choice than Coyote.

In my opinion, at this point the only north American animal that could bring something new would be North American porcupine - an aroboreal rodent would be really neat to build for.

There's been very little from North America I've wanted since the NA pack released, but one animal I still think would be cool to see is the Virginia opossum. Opossums are the most unique mammals from the Americas still missing from the game (quite literally from a phylogenetic standpoint), and the Virginia opossum is the species with the largest captive presence thanks to being kept in a substantial number of US facilities. If we get them, then we just need a peramelemorph (ideally the bilby) to have every order of marsupials kept in zoos represented in PZ.

I agree about everything. The Americas pack should've been a southamerican animal pack. Period.

That said there are still NA i would like. Like Fallax said i feel like the most important one is the turkey. The ones that would add variety and i would welcome because they are iconic but also different from.other NA we currently have are the opossum and the arboreal porcupine. My personal most wanted from NA are sea otter, musk ox and elk (and well birds but we know). Then you have the ABB that it is important for the region even if i don't personally wish for it, though i must admit that if we get it it'll probably be the bear i would use the most. Is more versatile.
