Why is there a lack of Exhibit Species lately?

Has anyone noticed that we haven't received an exhibit species in any DLC since the Eurasia Pack back in 2023? Sure, we're getting the Malabar Rose with Update 1.20, but it's still not part of a DLC. The Barnyard Animal Pack, Zookeepers Animal Pack, Americas Animal Pack, and the upcoming Asia Animal Pack all lack an exhibit species in their rosters. That's four DLCs in a row. Granted, the Barnyard Pack probably didn't need one, but the next three absolutely should have.

Anyone got an answer?

They dropped them in favour of building pieces so they can make a pack style that is a mix of both animal and scenery pack and that way get everyone something to work with every pack.

Specially sad given that we weren't that much new exhibits away from completing all the basic roster I think we should have. Cobra, gecko, chameleon and then maybe a tuatara, frilled lizard and giant salamander. The problem is that Americas doesn't fit with any of those (that continent has most of the exhibits since the base game, in fact), and Barnyard barely. But Asia and Zookeeper DLCs were very good options.

I somewhat enjoy exhibit animals but really the system they have currently for PZ1 is abysmal. 4m x 4m boxes for animals that you can barely see in a huge empty space like that, even worse when you add enrichment items. Really hoping that they get an upgrade in a sequel that allows us to get a lot more in the weeds with it all and customize smaller spaces for the smaller critters. For the time being, while I would have loved more unique exhibit reptiles or critters, I'm happy we're seeing a medium with the Animal Packs with a bit more scenery. Really hoping we can see a lot more of that in the future of the game / franchise.

Also I'll admit I love the idea that the Butterfly was a free update item. I always prefer gameplay / features / tools, but it's a good taste for those who don't want to get the pack just yet. Here's to hoping that the next pack, if we get one, also has a free butterfly or a moth. Would be a neat little trend and doesn't seem to be a heavy load on the Game Dev's part.

I'd love more exhibit animals too. Currently cant make a decent reptile house, there some iconic animals missing, and some regions are terribly underrepresented. I dont expect a lot but it would be nice to even it out a little bit.
Yeah.. but i don't see being fixed for PZ1. Hopefully the sequel comes with a better exhibit system and we get more variety. If you play in PC there are a lot of exhbit mods you can download though. Tona of options.

Adding more animals to a mediocre exhibit system isn't going to make it better. Aside from aviaries, an exhibit overhaul is the number one thing I want to see in a potential sequel. For the vast majority of exhibit animals the current exhibit box size is so massive it borders on comical, and it makes it really hard to see most of them. You also can't change the shape of the boxes themselves, and you can't even combine two exhibits to make a bigger one (functionally speaking anyways).

Personally, while I would love a complete revamp of the exhibit system, I have accepted and got used to the current system and I use exhibit animals a lot despite their limitations. That's why I would love to have a lot more of them. I've built several reptile, amphibians and arachnids houses, but I always have to use the same animals. I only have two lizards!
